hi bros. it's been quite some time since i logged in.. :D

recently, i withness a ritual whereby a group of devotees formed a circle and place their valuables (watches, wallets, rings etc) in a red plate. e taoist priest then did some rituals and the best part was when he crack jokes about the valuables (or rather he said some auspicious stuffs about them). it was certainly amusing and eye-opening. :D

may i know what's this ritual called? is it "hian po"? and what's the reasons for this ritual? :P

Based on my temple tradition: During the celebration of our Dieties birhtday, the priest (Sai Gong) will invite (thru chanting) numerous dieties to our temple for the celebration. After the invitation ritual, he will perform the " Hian Po " ritual, purpose of this ritual is to bless whatever personal items such as watches, handphone, key pouch etc being " Hian " for prosperity, safety and smooth sailing, hope my explanation is correct, correct me if I am wrong.
