Voting coming again.

How you feel about that?

Your area needs to do voting?

(Note: No sensitive wordings, No "shooting", No bias)

kangtangman - April 21, 2006 04:27 AM (GMT)
Bro,

Its difficult to achieve no shooting! as this is will definitely bring some implication somehow. Just talk to an ordinary Taxi driver, those who own provisional shops or those who work in the lower salary folks :( ... lots of shooting sure come out one. :D

So better not start any of such "political" posting better. sure got big & small eyes one.

Recently the government is encouraging open dialogue.

Our PM and Mentor had conducted open dialogue with the younger generations to bridge the G-gap. So dialogue is healthy but must be constructive.

Our Mentor Minister ( Mr KY Lee ) have not lost any of this mental quickness (judging from his instant responses to questions 'fired'!).

It will be interesting to hear the views from different spectrum.

This Election is a very interesting and closely watched! Our government is fielding a young team!

Most young intellects shy away from politics in fear of losing their freedom and publicity. Thus it very encouraging to see so many new faces in the PAP lineup.

Of course this will also be a good time for the bookies as well???

kangtangman - April 21, 2006 01:40 PM (GMT)

Every single votes is of importance but prior to your casting out this vote. Its best to ask yourself how much have your existing one does in improving your daily life? and how much would the newcomer be able to deliver for you? is it worth your vote to allow them to try; especially for those newcomer.... we wouldn't know until you gave them a chance to try so don't judge the person before they even perform. I feel that most Singaporean had failed to see this, every time when they cast out this vote. :)

javewu - April 21, 2006 01:47 PM (GMT)
if my area needs to vote, this wil b my veri first time doin voting.

Hi sis,

Which zone are you in?

I'm in Sembawang GRC. Past few Election walk over because Dr Tony Tan so popular no one dare contest. But this Election our beloved Dr Tony Tan had stepped down to make way for new blood and surely going to have some firework here. But frankly, I think it's a no contest as people here are very loyal to PAP...like me :)

I see this is a watershed Election for PAP.

Singapore future vision is to be a First Class country. This will necessItate good n strong opposition party. Hoped that by 'letting' in some oppositions we don't end up like country where the oppositions are so strong that they create havoc (not necessary to name these countries as there are news everyday).

However, I think Singapore have come of age and the time is ripe for this new challenges!

Wise move!

Think it's the 'lesser' educated class that will vote for the opposition. Not because they like the opposition but they just want to vent out their frustation. But isn't this a very unwise move? If all with problems voted for the opposition, then Singapore will be in a mess...creating more serious problem thus more frustations? Most immature people will just do that! *sigh*

Only those who travel abroad will know how safe and secure Singapore is.

Hope those people will vote with the mind and not vote with their heart :P

oshgosh - April 26, 2006 01:27 PM (GMT)
personally, i think that Singapore is too small to have too many opposition in the gov..
unlike big country like Malaysia/US where they are talking abt ruling by states, our small little country is seperated by GRC/wards.. therefore, if the opposition really win the GRC/wards, there is nothing really much they can do as PAP is still the gov.

anyway, do you think Singaporeans are really interested in politics? i seriously doubt so.
would we really watch the news to see what is happening in the parliment? :P
we always like to complain that gov this no good that no good but do you really think that it will be better if opposition take over?

after watching the dialogue sessions between MM Lee and those young fellows, I really cannot understand what the young people are thinking now... i was very shocked and sad by those questions that were posted to him..

sorry if I have offended anyone.. I am not a member of PAP or whatsoever..
I just hope that people can appreciate what we have now as compared to other countries.. :D

Hi Oshgosh,

Did you watch the post-view last Sunday on Channel NewsAsia.

These 'youngsters' aired their experiences after their meetings with our PM and Minister Mentor. Due to their 'higher' educations and exposures, I think they expressed what the new generation wants and hope. Good to see our society so open and transparent. Which country's PM will sit down to have such open dialogue with their 'younger' subjects?

oshgosh - April 26, 2006 02:20 PM (GMT)
I have missed the show on CNA.
I think the post view show was conducted after a lot of viewer feedback that the younsters were rude and impolite.. that was my initial feeling too when I watched the dialogue sessions..
I think they can't compare Singapore with other countries and expect Singapore to be like them.. What do they really want to see.. people making fun of the president like nobody business or people fighting inside the parliment.. :P

i apologise again if I have offended anyone.

kangtangman - April 27, 2006 12:18 AM (GMT)
I read with concerns on remarks that lesser educated folks would want an opposition or vote for them. Such message are actually from the local media and it basically goes to show how comfortable our educated people are today with our environment knowingly or unknowingly not acknowledging that our daily life is a struggle. Especially so when comes to concern on medical as well as cost of living in our country. In my view the reason for them to vote opposition is basically I think most people find it tough to survive or staying afloat in our daily lives itself.

If you have travelled well you would know how other countries works in helping their citizen, though security is one factor of consideration. I believe those are of remote cases where its blown out of propotions....

A lot of media that mentioned we relies and dependant on our government seem to drill into our people mind. Just a check with you folks here, are you married? do you own an apartment? How much of your salary goes into bills? are your job really secure? how many foriegners do we have in some our jobs here? why is it that all bills are always up and never down? how many people Are really out of jobs?

Though those youngsters on the forum with MM may appear to be rude, but I believe being young they fail to phrase their question in proper manner but nonetheless are pertinent to our future. Though I agreed we shouldn't make fun of our leaders in public as such democracy is really out of hand and context too, but one good leader should also listen to the public comment of his work(s). Look at our previous President Ong Teng cheong, his legacy was well liked and he indeed had thought for the citizen in some of his recommendation during his office holding here.

Though we can say here that we can't or shouldn't compare our country with others but many times we are comparing with other countries by our government from time to time. Don't forget where we are today is not only because of our government but also with the cooperation of the citizen here. If we were to compare we should compare in all aspect not on selective aspect. Though I am full in support with the government here but some of the things which they said seem contradict from time to time.

Should I offend anyone here, my sincere apology but I just thought that in view of such topics we should look at a broader view and all aspect of our daily lives instead of specific concern(s).
