Do you think that Taoism's culture, teaching is "growing" in Spore?

Are they doing the so-called "right" thing?

from wat i noe, in spore, not all taoism organisation or associations are doin their veri best in promotin the taoism culture (may in media or other forms)...

mayb they hold back due to a few reasons:

1) most ppl tink tat taoism r involve in SS
2) most temples or tuas usin Taoism's name r not doin their job properly
3) name of taoism is too commonly use or so-called wrongly use
4) etc...

frm my own view, i tink in spore, some of the legal organisation shall try to help in the promotin of Taoism (s Taoism is the only religion tat can accept most of the other religion in tis world, tis more or less wil teach the ppl to hav a big heart to accept).

some of the teachins do bein practise by ppl in normal day's life...

I agree to some extend that the association as well as the organisation had not done much in promoting this religion, as it seem that such information are been passed-on to those whom they deem fit. Unlike other religion they would hold weekly education classes or praying session that invites the mass walk-in into their religious premises.

Though Taoism may project some link with the secret society but most of all the general public fail to understand the true meaning of Taoism, myself included. Since young our parent and our parent before them basically brings us to the temple and pay our respect to the deities asking for better health or better luck, etc. Not knowing what is the purpose of praying, just pray for our well being, isn't it?

Unless today all the Taoism folks whom has the knowledge to share the true meaning of Taoism and the fundamental idea of this religion through seminar or classes or even promote into community centre, then the message would better be transmitted to the masses.

All those sintua(s) folks who are helpers or mediums, in my view they only know a fraction of Taoism. Afterall the information that they have learnt from are fraction too, as the senior in the sintua(s) felt that certain information could only given to those whom they deem fit. Unlike buddhism and christian they send out their teaching to mass seminar, to bring across the idealogy of their religion to whoever that may be of interest to... its like a farmer who spread all the seeds into the fertile land, for those who landed in the soft soil they will grow. For those who landed on the hard land will only grow to some extend and dies of. While those which landed on the rock will not grow. Lets step back and think about this concept apply to bring Taoism into the masses.

i tink its time for some of the taoism organisations, etc, to tink abt such topics.

not just having dinners, exhibitions, but also talks, sessions, classes to promote tao n oso the rite teachings of tao.

I agreed with bros here that most of the Ki Tong know a fraction of Taoism.

Most people always think that Taoism is like associate with SS, Tang Ki, eat staya, yew keng.. etc...

Look at all the politics in the temple between Li Si(s), Medium that cheat on devotees, Ki tong with lot of tatoos on body, all the helpers also with tatoos. and long hair and smoke like chimey...and everybody is like having a party during the da ri zi.. all the Toh toa also like passing the ling qi and huat suo around.. like nobody take it as a serious occasion... Sin Tua poping out like mushroom.. rare god also poping out from nowhere..and no youngster want to take over from the older generation instead setting up own tua...yew keng,, more and more commercialise...see who can invite the most KT..

All the above is just my view for nowsaday... and with all the above what do outsiders think of Taosim...

Dear bro, you are telling the truth, and me personally do agree on what you have post. those who felt being offend are those who have done things in a so-called "not correct way".

To save the culture of all Tuas, the return a "good name" to Taoism, we or the Taoism Society need to put in quite alot of effort.

Actually during my retreat few weeks ago, i did do some survey on how people outside Taoism feel about the Taoism in Spore.

To be honest with all of you here, their respond is something that really hurt me deeply.

"Taoism are something that I cant tolerate, I see so many Pai Kiasa round temples and God's birthday celebration, look like some fightings are going to happen..."

"Taoism, maybe not Taoism, I shall say the mediums.. most of them are just putting up a show, I don't see a need in consulting mediums when you have illness like flu, headache or ever cancer. Can God(s) really help you to remove the cancer cells?

If yes, how many can they save?"

"Cheaters, just know how to use tricks to cheat the devotees' money, I'm not going to believe in them..."

So, can you all see how the name Taoism reflects to the people outside the religion.

Do you think that we or the Taoism Society really need to do something to "save" the Taoism?

We do need to do some deep considerations....

These statements will surely offend 'new' & 'younger' kitongs/mediums and be hotly disputed. But sadly it's true in many cases! Personally I was victimized on three (3) occassions! Fortunately I was cheated of only a few thousand in each cases. I ran very fast once I smell somthing fishy! My first posting on sintua.com was "How to complaint", was the third occassion that I was victimized. If not for my deep deep affinity with Dua Ya Pek, I would not have anything to do with taoism, let alone these 'mediums'?

However, the grass is alway greener on the other side of the field? Such happenings is not solely found in taoism and I understand that these are the doings of human - not deity! It is not possible to stop such happenings but we can all do our best to 'expose' these people (not so straight kitongs/mediums) so that others won't fall victim.

Do agree on the very 1st statement that you have made, but it seems to be "very true" in all the tuas you go...

Now that we are not putting the blames on the young or new kis, but actually the main person you need to blame is the Master.

Why? I think i ever make a post in sintua.com that actually all these are created by so-called the Masters of the Kis.

They are using the curiosity in the youngs and the new kis, "bluffing" them on actually they are appointed by heaven to come down to the mortal world to do "Kew Say (helpping the needys)", they have certain power that our youngs dont have, etc...

So do you believe?

Have they understand the word or phrase about "Kew Say"?

Actually i can answer for them, they DONT understand.

So many kis i have met before, regardless age, race, gender, they just knowing of going down to big celebrations, just for the sake to jump, performing the rituals that their "bosses" want, perform so-called "kew say" for the human, going for yewkengs, etc. But when you ask them about the true facts they doing, they are in a blank.

Maybe someone can answer me this, if this going to carry on, how long can culture of Tua last? How many years can people still continue to believe in Taoism?

Let's ponder on these questions.
