Vegetarian Food Offered-

*we do not offer uncooked food to the gods. Neither do we offer dried vegetarian food to the gods. Unless we pray to the Jade Emperor ( Yu Huang Shan Di ) where we offer raw pig and goat as sacrifices, we prepare raw food such as chicken, duck, prawns, live crabs and meat as a set to honour the Jade Emperor.*

hello, may i know why is it written as Nan Yue Kang Tai Ye in the Central Altar?

limruihe_90 - October 20, 2007 05:24 PM (GMT)
Hi REBORN,

you're welcome.

the temple is not open to public as it as owned by an association. but they do welcome people to pray when they invite the gods out to celebrate his birthday.

i guess u will have to wait till next year if you hope to visit it.

Hi emptiness_yh,

from what i heard, the decoration for the central altar is sponsored by a devotee but it was printed wrongly.

though it was printed wrongly, they had seeked approval from Kang Tai Ye to put it up cause after all it was a donation made by a devotee.

yup. so the central altar is printed Nan Yue instead of Dong Yue.

oh, i see.
thanks for the clarification.

Thanks Bro limruihe_90 for sharing the info on the Tua with us.

Dong Yue Kang Tai Ye aka Dong Yue Kang Tai Bao, one of the 4 famous Taoist Marshals, full name known as Kang Miao Wei Yuan Shuai.

Before he being bestowed with the title of Yuan Shuai, he was a up-right man who saved the whole village from getting the fatal disease - Wen Yi.

After he saved the whole village by stopping the spreading of the disease, Heaven was moved and Jade Emperor bestowed him with the title Yuan Shuai and appointed him to assist Dong Yue Da Di in looking in matters that involved the living beings in the 3 Realms.

In Singapore, quite rare you can see any temples or altars dedicated to him solely.. this is the 1st time I come across. :P
