This is an interesting article on whether you will feel like crying when you step into a temple/church/mosque/religion places.
This action is very popular in Taiwan, but in Singapore, seldom you will hear or see people discussing about this topic.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Not only crying, but actually there are more actions:
1) the main is feeling like crying
2) feeling tired
3) feeling sleepy
4) wish that someone can be by yourside
5) hope to see your parent
6) hope to get hug
7) hope to get pat by someone on your shoulder
8) hope that someone (on the support) can give you a few words of comfort
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
If you do have such above-mentioned feelings, then, it means that your "bosses" up there are sending a certain message to you.

Okay, you are not the 1st person to have such feelings.
Usually this occurs on ppl when they visit Buddhist Temples or Temples with high-rank Deities or Buddha.
In certain believe, this consider as, helping a person, to "clear" the "troubles" or "impurities" in the heart, soul and mind.
Usually ppl will get worry about their reactions, thinking that they have somehow offended the Deities or what, but in actual fact is not.
Let such feelings retain for sometime, whenever you visit the temple, worship with a Full hearted sincerity, after sometime, the feeling will disappear.
In Folk's Taoism, ppl believe that such reactions are due to the Deities are here to "catch Kis", but actually not, so dont mistaken. :P

I would assume that you are Buddhist and have taken refuge vows.
In Buddhism this is nothing extraordinary. It simply means that when chanting sutras and/or mantras your heart is moved by the essence and meaning of what you are chanting. This is very beneficial, because it helps clear off karma.
However it has been said that the karma we have accumulated since beginningless time is equivalent to an innumerable billion universes, and a single act of merit clears off only a grain of sand from these innumerable billion universes. :o Therefore it is extremely hard to clear off our karma so that we can all be enlightened. :(
Sometimes it's not because you are moved by the essence and meaning of the sutra, sometimes it is because we generally feel the compassionate power of the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas and we feel so loved that we feel like crying. 'cry'
It's perfectly alright. I get that feeling too when I meet great masters. 'shhh'
I do not really know what the Taoist explanation may be :huh:, but I would like to think that it is the same explanation.
As for feeling tired, sleepy, etc., from the Buddhist point of view, it can mean that there are many obstacles between you and Buddha/bodhisattva. Or simply that you didn't get enough rest before you visit the temple. :lol:

Hi Dorjie,
I'm a Taoist (or rather learning to be one).
Whenever I meditates and chant the 6 words Da Bei Chou, tear would drops like a waterfall, even though I don't feel sad. On the contrary, I feel very peaceful! Why is this so?
Thanks in advance.

I don't really have a full explanation, but according to Buddhism, the Great Compassion Mantra is supposed to bring calm and peace to the person who chants, hears, reads it, so you feeling peaceful after reading it is not really a surprise.
As for tears falling when chanting, it means that you are doing it right. Don't worry. :lol: Even up till now the realized masters cry and laugh at the same time when they meditate on Guan Shi Yin or any other bodhisattva.

:P
There are many sutra in buddhism context, all these sutra has special meanings or would i say an entity to a particular buddha or bodhisattva. Some are believe to help clear the soul, some are chant to bring peace to the mind....
As for karma, I think its avoidable, we can only learn the teaching of buddhism and to be enlightenment so as to avoid karma....buddhism talk about benevolence and mercyfulness, the main ingredient in enlightenment, being a good man, does not makes you enlighten, but with a heart of benevolence and mercyfulness, you are almost there.....
Buddhism has many compaliation of sutra, I personally likes the heart sutra(Xin jing), its the shortest but would say the most profound sutra among many. The heart sutra itself has a compaliation of 6/7 sutra to form the heart sutra....
I have heard many information about this heart sutra, one of it was xuan zhang, when he goes to the west to attain the buddhist text, along the way , an old injured man, pass him this sutra, and he receited along the way to the west and he is safe and sound. One of the other friend told me there is a king who felt that this sutra could be summaried further and one old monk tried to summaried it, but he failed, as the current heart sutra has already at its most summarised version.....
its good to chant sutra, but importantly, we must know what the sutra is interpreting, so that it will open out of knowledge..buddhism emphasy knowledge and intellecture...
cheers 'xiaofo'

This can be explained by:
1. The Sutra helps you to get rid of all unwnated past, so you teared to clear off your burdens that can be found in ur mind, soul and body
2. The Sutra helps to clear your past-debts, so you teared as a gratitude towards that
3. Helps you to get rid of all unwanted sins, so you feel ease and tears dropped without you noticing.

Da Bei Zhou not only being populared in Buddhism but also other religions like Taoism.
Many well-known Masters do encouraged their disciples to practise Da Bei Zhou as to get their mind, soul and body being purified.

Yes, Indeed!
Whenever I feel down or at a lost, I just chant (mentally) the 6 words Da Bei Chou. It gives me great peace...a feeling difficult to describe.
