A brief introduction to Feng Shui

Heaven Luck:
The talents that you are born with, potentials and the capacity to make the most of your potential. Your family background, health condition and where you are born is also determined by Heaven Luck.
Man Luck:
The actions that you take to capitalize upon your potential and also opportunities that may present themselves. Your education, perseverance, beliefs and principle also form the basis of your Man Luck.
Earth Luck:
The area in which you reside/work. This is what is known as Feng Shui. Your external environments, where you work and where your home is located all plays a role in your Earth Luck.
Don’t expect miracles:
Many people equate feng shui consultants with miracle-making abilities.
Clients sometimes think that feng shui consultants can wave a magic wand, apply a formula and make all their problems disappear or turn them into millionaires when they follow certain water formulas.
Feng Shui does not work like that. It is not magic. Feng Shui consultants are not graduates of Hogwarts!
Let’s go back to the basics. Feng Shui is about tapping and making use of the correct Qi in the environment, thus maximizing the potential of the environment around your property to improve your quality of life.
There are many positive improvement that Feng Shui can bring to a person’s life but has to cautioned that there are also limitations to what feng shui can do, particularly if the role played by feng shui is not understood correctly.
When the Qi in the environment is working for you, you feel better, you are more energized, more motivated, more alert, you are able to respond to opportunities better and thus this contributes to your ability to perform better at work and enjoy positive relationships with those around you. When you are happy and relaxed, you are able to pursue your goals with a clear mind.
Often, wealth and increased prosperity or affluence is an outcome of that positive state of affairs.
But having the best feng shui is the world is of no benefit if the person does not take any action. Sometimes, people have the misconception that once they utilize feng shui, there’s no need to lift a finger - the formula (or if you are into New Age Feng Shui, the trinket, amulet or figurine) will do everything for you. As much as I don’t to shatter anyone’s illusions, feng shui cannot make money or miracles from nothing. Old-fashioned hard work is also required.
In feng shui, there are techniques and systems that can be used to produce quick results or bring about results that are more instantly notable. For example, using Water formulas often brings about faster results that using Mountain formulas. But of course, Water also does not bring about lasting results. For that, you need to use Mountains.
Similarly, the Eight Mansion system produces more steady and gradual results and is suitable for long-term outcomes while the Flying Stars system produces quicker. short-term outcomes. But no matter what system is used, not taking action is simply a zero-sum gain.(Extract from an article by Joey Yap)

Dear CT,
A person's 'sheng', 'ping','si', is inadvertentable.
However, I believed that 70% of our present life is a result of our past karma, 30% will result from what we 'do' or 'not do' in this present cycle.
I like this quote:
"Man is made by his belief.
As he believes, so he is."
But believing is one thing. Action must be taken to achieve what you believe in. Without action, nothing moves, nothing changes....
Without action, no matter how good the feng shui master is, nothing will happen, nothing will change.
I believed that no one is destined to be poor or rich. All are born equal. It's all in the mind. Here's an interesting story on this:
Once there was a eagle who was nestling an eaglet on a tree top. One day, a very strong wind blew and shaked the tree so hard, the nest dropped onto the floor.
A mother hen came along, saw this eaglet, mistook it for one of her chicks, took it home. Soon this eagle grew up together with all the other chicks. Behave and act like all the other chicks. One day, he saw a eagle flying in the sky. WOW! how nice if I can fly too but too bad I'm a hen and can't fly! So sad! Then he called out to the eagle in the sky. Uncle! Uncle! come down. Can you teach me how to fly?
The eagle laughed and said: "Of course you can!" --you're an eagle. Come, I'll show you how. flupp,flupp,flupp...this eaglet (now a full grown eagle) tried and tried but everytime just as he was about to take off, plodd...down he fell. However, after many many tries.....up up and away....he finally flew!

CT, do you know Joey Yap? He's a very famous feng shui master in Malaysia.

dear brother,
first and foremost i truly thank you for enlightening me on the subject. i totally agree with you on the karma effect. Buddha too said that "what we are know, is the result of our past and to determine our future karma, it is what we are doing know" the story of the eagle is an eye opener. however there are still some more aspects that i need to read up and search in order to alter my perception on the matter. i heard of Joey before but i think he is not as famous as Lilian Too in the Malaysian scene.
one of her phrases that i can nevrer forget during an interview in Malaysian TV1 was "if you don't believe in FS, it will never exists in your life and it will never bother you" thats why i sort of have this perception and i need to learn more from you.
regards

Hi CT,
I heard Lilian Too already confered Datin?
Lilian was my idol. I have read most of her books!
On Lilian's remarks, I think what she meant was 'if you believe in fs, it will works; If you don't, then it won't'. It's like rebirth. Some people believe some don't. Those unfortunated that don't will find out too late!
To me, fs is not 'blind' believe. It can and has been proven that fs works. But this believe must not become an oblivion. This is where con-men comes in.

dear REBORN,
yup she has been conferred datin and her shops are springing up all over KL. her books and fs has successfully spread to the non chinese and it seems that the malays are also deeply interested with the idea. yes i agree with you that it is not blind belief and it works. to me fs is actually ancient physics in China and adopted mystically by today's civilisation. i would think that fs is the comprehension of earth and nature taking into deep concentration on the works and the cerux of various energies that fuel nature and earth itself.
pls correct me if i am wrong. by the way. you have addressed me as CT and i personally think its a catchy call. i like it. thanks, now my frens will be relieved because they have a hard time pronouncing my name :P .
regards

"Datin" is a official title confered by the Malaysian's government to ladies of great services to the country.
"Dato" is corresponding title for men.
Something like the English's title of Duke and Ducess.
These titles carry significant weight in the Malaysian' govermental matters.
