Now, i am doing Ph.D. about Taoism and Buddhism: A comparative study

I would like to know about similarlies and difference about Practices of Taoist sect; Quanzhen and Zhengyi.

Please help me. I really need to know.

Just a quick intro on the 2.

Zheng Yi, founded in Han Dynasty, which is abt 1800 - 2000 years ago by our Heavenly Master Zhang Dao Ling. During the initial period, it was known as Wu Dou Mi Jiao - Five bushes of Rice Sect.

Quan Zhen, started in Tang Dynasty by the influences of Lu Yan aka Lu Dong Bin and later in late Ming and Yuan Dynasty, being promoted by Master Wang Chong Yang and his disciple Master Qiu Chu Ji (which you can see in some Movies, these 2 characters do appeared).

Zheng Yi, most of us or our Ancestors settled in the Southern part of China (after Taoism moved from the central China to the Southern part of China), whereas Quan Zhen still stayed in the Northern part of China (and this is why we have classified ourselves as Nan Zong and Bei Zong, meaning the Southern Lineage and Northern Lineage).

As for the disciples or Priests for Zheng Yi, we need not need to stay in Temples like Buddhist Monks or take vows for not to get married or taking long-term vegetarian diets (some will). Whereas Quan Zhen Priests (in China) will do that (live exactly like a Monk).

If you will to go into the normal Practises, Zheng Yi will be known as/under the Talisman Sect which we uses Talismans or the energies that supported by Talismas during Rituals or ceremonies, whereas Quan Zhen wont.
