Can someone please advise on the function of the God Gan Tian Da Di? Isn't his position similar to that of Tu Di Gong as a land god? 'lotus'

Gan Tian Da Di in the main stream Taoism is consider as a very high ranking Deities, we have to address him as Heavenly Master Xu.

In Folks Belief, Gan Tian Da Di got 2 versions:

1. Xu Xun in old man form, able to assist ppl in getting rid of bad stuffs

2. Jie Zi Tui, a real historical character, ppl respect him becos of his filial piety action.

So they are totally different from Tu Di.
