Title: Household Altar

purelander777 - April 28, 2007 01:30 AM (GMT)
Can someone please advise on the proper process on arranging the home altar. In my home I have a Guan Gong, and Tu Di Gong facing the front door, and a small plaque with the name of Tu Di Gong on the outside of the door. In my prayer room I have Staues of Mazu (ling mo niang), Gan Tian Da Di, Tai Sui, Fa Chu Gong, and Wu Cai Shen. Could some advise on how to arrange the statues. I bought these statues from a person who collected them from a temple in Singapore and have not engergized them in any formal way other than to venerate them with incense fruit and water. Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

Hi purelander,

I'm worry that ur room is over occupy with too many statues and some more, no enhancement on them (in-order to avoid any issues from occuring, cut a small red paper, 8cm by 8cm, to paster them on the un-enhanced statues).

On ur main altar, try to arrange the Deities according to this:

For the moment, you got only 2 statues, this is forbidden, so you have to get another extra statues to make it into odd number.

After adding another new statues, then most probably we can advise you on the setting up.

Here are the statues in my main altar room? In my prayer room I have Staues of Mazu (ling mo niang), Gan Tian Da Di, Tai Sui, Fa Chu Gong, and Wu Cai Shen. How long should I cover their eyes? They came from a temple. Shouldn't they already be energized?

Actually I am thinking of moving all the statues in my home to one area in the altar room. The statues will be:
Mazu, Gan Tian Da Di, Tai Sui, Guan Gong, Tu Di Gong, Fa Chu Gong, and Wu Cai Shen.
Please advise on the best way of arranging the statues. 'man'

They may come from a Temple, but due to the lack of offering Incenses from the “owner” and the sincerity that you have, the Deities might or not, have left the Statues.

Usually before inviting an old statue back to one’s home from any places, we need to “send off” the old energy of the old statue away 1st and then invite back the empty statues. Only after inviting back, then we engaged Masters to re-do the Enhancement again in one’s place, etc.

Before any enhancement is done, no removing of red-paper is allowed.

You can go according to this position:

Tu Di Gong, Wu Cai Shen, Guan Gong, Tai Sui, Gan Tian Da Di, Ma Zu, Fa Zhu Gong.

I am assuming that the order of the deities you gave Tu Di Gong to Fa Zhu Gong are from lowest to highest. Fa Zhu Gong being the highest??? I do not have access to a Taoist master to enhance the deities in that case what is the process? The Buddhist masters locally will not perform this service for Taoist statues. In this case should I just go forward to worship the deities with sincerity and devotion and invite them in my home?

For us chinese, usually the centre one will be the most highest rank, in ur case, will be Tai Sui.

Why? People might ask that I thou those with beard and older age Deities shall be the one who's doing the leading? Hahahaha, if you got this type of thinking, then you might be wrong.

Tai Sui, a Deity that are appointed as the Overall In Charge of the Year, and so, everything, every living lives and even all Deities will need to respect or so-called give "face" to him, so no matter what happen, Tai Sui shall be the place at the leading position, follow by the left side of the Statue (which means, your right hand side of the altar).

For the enhancement issues, maybe you can get any Feng Shui Masters in your place to do the enhancement, if not, then we will discuss thru PM (private message). :P

In My Altar (Daochang) I Worship Sanqing Daozu and Yaochi jinmu. So, should I move Sanqing Daozu from the middle and replace it with Taisui?
