Chronicle of Xiao Gong Cun (Xiao Ming Rui)

1141AD: Born in lunar June 30th day , named Xiao Ming Rui (肖(萧)明瑞) , in a rich family, in the village of Long Po She.

1150AD: Age11 Worked as a farmer helper in his aunt’s farm in the village of Bai Ma Po where he met and befriend Ji Guan (a distant relative) who was also working in the same household. Their friendship grew and soon they become sworn brothers.

1156AD: Age 16 and Ji Guan, now age 18, both decided to travel to Jiangxi Lushan to seek and learn Taoist skills and martial arts. They started off in mid autumn. On their way, they passed the village of Minqing where they met Zhang Min (章敏 ). The three of them became sworn brothers. They then travel to FuZhou Yang Jiao Zhou Lushan. They met Taoist High Priest Zhou Zou who becomes their master. Master Zhou Zou gives Xiao Min the Taoist name of Lang Rui (朗瑞). After 49 days, they quickly learned all the 36 heavenly celestial palaces; 72 earthly combinations; Taoist magical skills; Exorcism skills; Able to communicate directly with deity(s). Master Zhou instructed Lang Rui to grind powder daily (without fail) and at the same time taught him the Taoist martial arts. Xiao Ming Rui trained and practiced very hard for five years. Master Zhou was satisfied that Xiao Ming Rui now is well prepared and instructed him to leave Lushan to accomplished his mission of good deeds and removals of devils and demons that causes people troubles and hardship. This mission is necessary before Xiao Ming Rui can become a deity.

1163AD: Age23 In March, in the western part of Futian, there was a huge demonic snake causing chaos and fears to the villagers. It especially likes to swallow maidens who wash their family laundries under the bridge. All maidens who go there disappeared without trace. At this time, Ji Guan and Lang Rui was traveling together and when they knew of this news, quickly when in search of this demonic snake. One afternoon, this demonic snake was out for its meal. On seeing it, Ji Guan immediately drew his sword and floated (like a cloud) and attacked it. The first strike, his sword cut into the snake’s body. But the snake was very strong and fierce; it opened its mouth wide and big and strikes back at Ji Guan. At this critical moment, Lang Rui quickly used a long and thick bamboo trunk, with poisons applied on it; trust it into the snake opened mouth and straight into the snake’s stomach. Soon the poisons that were applied on the bamboo took effects and the snake was struggling in pain and sunk into the river bottom. Thus Lang Rui and Ji Guan had done a great deed for the villagers.

In April, after disposing of this demonic snake, they travel deep into the mountain forest. On their way, suddenly the sky darken, strong winds blew from all directions. They noticed a group of local villagers who ventured here to find herbs and wood were dead from poisoning. All the body was swollen and reddish. There was a huge demonic centipede living in this forest. However, both Land Rui and Ji Guan, both skillful Taoist, were not afraid and seek out this demonic centipede. This demonic centipede lived in a dark and foggy cave. It was feasting on dead human bodies. Ji Guan killed this monster with one blow of his magic sword. Thus another great deed done.

1166AD. Ji Guan was staying at Lang Rui’s house, from where they could travel far and wide collecting herbs and doing good deeds (helping and saving life). One day, they saw a poor old man crying and pledging for justice as his young grand daughter was taken away by force by a playboy son of a notorious bandit. The three brothers immediate when to find this playboy family and on arrival, find him in the main hall having a good time drinking wines and womanizing. The playboy was about to tear off this young girl’s clothing. Ji Guan shouted him to stop. When this playboy saw that the three brothers were dressed in poor farmer clothing, ignored them and continued with his act. He (the playboy) then throws one punch at Ji Guan’s eyes. Ji Guan avoids the punch and kicked his bottom. Unfortunately, the kick was so strong that it immediately killed this playboy. Lang Rui then set fire and burnt down this evil stockade. They then returned this young girl to the old man. Thence fore, peace returned to Mafeng stockade. In the same year, Ji Guan and Lang Rui also done a few more good deeds by removing of more devilish forces and demons.

1168AD. Ji Guan was in a fierce battle with the Five Tong Devils at Shi Nui Shan. The devils and their soldiers outnumber yet Ji Guan fought on fearlessly. However, Ji Guan felled into their trap and was trapped in Shi Gu Tong ( a deep cavern in the mountainous forest and burnt. The thick smoke soon darkens his whole face and body. A huge rock was blocking the cave entrance, thus Ji Guan was trapped inside. Ji Guan gathered all his power and used a special skill to inform his two brother of this situation, seeking for help. Soon, Lang Qing arrived. He used his hammer and breaks the rock that was blocking the cave entrance. His power was so great that one of the broken rocks flew and hit Ji Guan on his forehead, causing a huge swell. He was so embarrassed that his face turned red! When Lang Rui arrives, he saw what happened to Ji Guan and was so angry that his face turned green! The three brothers then combined their power and finally subdued the demons. These demons then become the Wu Tong Gui (Five Pass Devils) and kept as their protective assistances. The three brothers then stayed at the Shi Nui Tong to cultivate and improve on their skills.

1174AD. Age 34. Its Autumn and the three brothers returned to Shi Nui Tong for their annual get together, to discuss and study and what they’re learned during the year. They then decided to go to Jiangxi Lu mountain to pay a visit to their Master (and to learn more from him). They cut bamboo to make a draft and carried it to Mingjian River. They used their magical power to cross many rivers and rough seas and finally reached their destination. However, Master Zhou already knew of their exploits and knowing that they have learned everything from him, decided to leave the place, thus the three brothers couldn’t find him around. The three brothers then kneed on the ground and kowtow three times (as showing respects to their Master), then returned to Fujian. Later, those people who saw the three brothers on the bamboo draft crossing those rivers and rough seas knew that they were deities.

1188AD. Age 48 now accomplished his mission. While meditating at the retreat of Nanping Dang Shan cave, ascended to heaven. He was later known as Xiao (xiao) Gong Jun [肖(萧)公 君].
