Greetings from Taiwan,
Since it is getting close to the Lunar/Chinese New Year let me send you all a cyber-card for Lunar New Year. Everyone here in Taiwan is pretty excited about the holiday this year, the reason being it is a long (albeit late) New Years. The holiday this year runs nine days (Feb. 17 to 25th). Is it the same there in Singapore, you guys get nine days off?
My wife, Elizabeth Guo, and I wish everyone here a happy and healthy new year. The card is intensely red which kind of screwed up the scan but I wanted you all to have an authentic card and the authentic ones are verrrrrrrrrrry red. (I had to wear my sunglasses when I went to scan it in just now).
Take care,
Brian (and Elizabeth)
Ha..ha..ha...
Brian, we Chinese loves red but westerner (like you) won't want to see red for sure! (especially financial statements). Funny things about color in different cultures.
We here in Singapore only have two public holidays. Fortunately, the first day falls on Sunday thus we have Tuesday in lieu off.
Lovely card. Thousand thanks to you and Liza.
Our Best wishes to you both too!
Hi Reborn,
Yeah, and the other strange thing about Taiwanese/Chinese greeting cards is that they smell like flowers! Really, I do not know if it is the same deal in Singapore but here in Taiwan the holiday cards all have a smell to them.
I will never forget the first time I went shopping for greeting cards in Taiwan. I was standing in the store and I thought to myself, "jeez, some woman has really put on a lot of perfume,". But then I looked around and there was nobody near me. I wondered, "where is that smell coming from?". And then I put one of the cards up to my nose and realized the card had been "perfumed". And then I picked up other cards and realized they have all been sprayed with perfume!!
It is a nice enough smell, it is pleasant----but for an American--kind of weird...and then the "high voltage red color".
Okay then, although we got the holidays coming up, today is a work day so I better get moving.
take care,
Brian
