Hi Jave,
I read in one source, it mentioned that Chng Bo ma is the the mother of Nezha. She was promoted after Chi wang was defeated. Does this story hold water? :P

I come across this before, but that story is only believe in the Min Jian (folk's tale).
Chng Beo (Chuan Mu) exists before the Na Zha "pop out", so it is a bit impossible that is the mother of him.
And so more, to be more exact, Na Zha is a deity or character in India, so do you think that his mother came all the way to China to promote to Chng Beo? :P

Hee hee...sound sensible. However, it could be that the former Chng mu also got promoted, thus Nezha's mother took over ( to earn her degree )???

Erm, if this really occur, then i got no comments, 'cos in the world of immortals or deities, they do have promotion and also degrading, maybe Na Zha's mother is one of them got the promotion.
But from olden records, she is being summon back to Heaven to stay with her husband Li Jing, as for her title, i will need to dig my box for it :P

Many people mis-taken that Chng Beo (aka Chuan Mu) is a deity that helps to bless couples in giving birth, but actually is not.
She is a deity that helps to look after the babies at night, blessing them to have a good night sleep till morning.
Then how she perform her task?
One of tasks is just like what bro you have said, getting rid of all the negative or bad energies around in the bedroom, follow by preventing "dirty fellows" getting near to babies.
As for nightmares, these are something that out of human or even deities control.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
A few things that you all can observe during the babies sleeping.
1) babies smiling or laughing - this is believe that the Chng Beo and the nannies are playing with the babies in their dreams
2) babies reciting words (in mumbling words) - Chng Beo and the nannies are teaching the babies to read and memorised wordings
3) babies shouting or get angry - Chng Beo and the nannies reprimanding them (due to some issues)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
All these are the folk's beliefs, but some of them are quite logical.. :P

then when i was 16 as my grandma sae is the last time I have to pray liao we call it "Chu Huay Her" aka out the garden direct translation, and give thanks to them so got pray duck, chicken, fish(with scale on) etc. then must wear a new set of phyjamas and new pair of clogs and for that also must wear some gold stuff.... so i'm not very sure is it link to "Chin Bu"... so this is the side of my contribution... :)

Yes, people in spore are considering Chng Mu or Chng Beo as one of the Yim Sin (Hell Deities), but they have mistaken that.
Chng Mu the so-called Bed Goddesses are part of the 36 Nannies of Zhu Sheng Niang Niang (Goddess of Giving Birth). During the period of having babies to the Period of give birth, all these Nannies are around to give their blessings to the pregnant lady.
Even after the lady give birth, the next stage's Nannies will still have to take turns to look after the babies till they become adult.
