Chong Wen Ge (Situated beside Thian Hock Kheng)

Singapore 1st Chinese Educational Organisation. Built in 1849, sponsored by Hokkien Leader Tan Kim Seng and Teochew Leader Seah Yew Jin.

萃英书院
Cui Ying Shu Yuan

Set up in year 1854, consider as the 2nd Chinese School in Singapore. Sponsored by Hokkien Leader Tan Kim Seng. The old address of this school is at Amoy Street No. 131, unfortunately, the school stopped functioning in year 1954.

章苑生学校
Zhang Yuan Sheng School

The 1st School that teaches English in Singapore. Built in 1875 by Zhang Fang Ling.

颜永成义学
Gan Eng Seng School.

Formely as Ying Hua School, set up by Mr Gan Eng Seng in 1886. Situated at Telok Ayer Street. Before a proper school was being built, Mr Gan Eng Seng uses his shop houses as classrooms for teaching. Due to the increasing of numbers in the enrollment, Mr Gan decided to build a school which can take in 300 students. 1893, the new campus was officially put into function.
