Singapore Min Nan Ong Clan Association (direct translate from Chinese) was set up in the year 1875, acknowledged Prince Jing of Chun Qiu Period (BC770-BC476) as their Ancestor for the surname Wang (hokkien: Ong).
BC550, Prince Jing (name Zi Qiao) was being punished by removing his Prince title and became a normal citizen. After the title being removed, he moved to Tai Yuan district. Due to Prince Jing was a member of the Royal family, the people at Tai Yuan address his family as Wang Jia (Members from Royal), from then, the surname starts to circulate.

1872, the later descendants of Prince Jing, named Ong Yew Hai, Ong Kiew Ho and Ong Zong Dong came out with a large sum of contribution to buy a plot of land in Bukit Timah Rd (300 over hect), this was where the folks called “Xing Wang Shan” – Hill of the Ong’s, and later part, a temple was being built at the land, given name as “Min Wang Ci” – Hall of Duke of Min Nan.
