Hi Bro,

Here's some explanation on the slaughting of pig and goat as offering:

1 expressing our greatest gratitude or thanks to Heaven and Earth after certain request being answered

2 requesting certain blessing from Heaven and Earth, by using this Big Respect (hokkien: Dua Lhay) to move the necessary targeted Deities.

In the past, only good harvest year or peaceful country or areas or able to perform such a ceremony at a certain day or at the day of mortals paying respect to Jade Emperor aka Heaven.

Such ceremony represent good harvest, people are not suffering from wars or certain sickness, or country has gained peacefulness.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Then why pig and goat are selected for such ceremony? Cause in the past, in rural or folks' culture, pig and goat are consider as the highest or the most precious food among the society. In-order to show the sincerity, the folks will present the most wonderful offerings to the Deities during certain ceremony.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Now, in Spore, it is difficult to see such ceremony carried out.

During such ceremony, only alive pigs and goats can be used, once the animals died before the ceremony, the animals will have to put aside. If the died animals are used, this will somehow show the dis-respect of the mortals to the Deities.
