ROMERO AND KING?
BY DF NEWS
George Romero and Stephen King have teamed up in the past with mixed results. On the one hand you have movies like CREEPSHOW and its sequel. On the other you have THE DARK HALF and KNIGHTRIDERS, in which King had a cameo. The duo are set to team again with a big-screen adaptation of FROM A BUICK 8 and unfortunately I'm guessing this will fall in the latter category of stinkers. Why? The script was written by actor and writer wanna-be Johnathon Schaech whose acting credits include such winners as POISON IVY II, 8MM2 and the upcoming ROAD HOUSE 2 (though he is married to Christina Applegate so he must be doing something right). Now I love Romero and King both and wish them the best but I can't say I'm overflowing with optimism here. I'd rather focus my attention to THE GIRL WHO LOVED TOM GORDON, which the dynamic duo are also working on.
Since I love King and Romero, I will go see From A Buick 8..I don't know very much about the guy who they had write the script, but I have read the book. Only a few chapters, it was kind of hard to get into, so I am not really expecting the movie to be great, but I will watch it..
I loved Creepshow (1 and 2)...I liked "The Dark Half"...so this one does have a bit of potential. I wonder why nobody's made a movie of "Insomnia"...guess they figure an elderly lead character is boring...pffft... <_<
