Name: Hafifu
Gender: Female
Age: 3 Years
Alignment: Light
Appearance: Hafifu isn't much of a special individual when it comes to her appearance. She is a little taller than most leonines; she's all legs. At the shoulders she's about 52 inches. Including her tail, she measures about 100 inches in length. Her sleek body is layered in bulging muscles that have been developed from play in her youth, and long hunts in her adolescence. Now, in her adulthood, they serve her when she hunts still, but would not do if she were to come up against a male of her own species.
The lioness's pelt is clean of scars, except for one on her hindquarters. It stretches from hip-point to hip-point, the reminder of a fight when she was two years old. Her pelt's base color is a rich tawny that perfectly matches the long savannah grasses. The rosettes that are meant to fade before adolescence have not disappeared completely. She is a special example in that her rosettes are still clear, even if very light. They are barely a shade darker than her fur. Under each eye, there is a streak of white, making her pale yellow eyes seem incredibly haunting, while a slightly darker marking over each brow gives her a serious, almost brooding look.
Her tail is black-tufted, and her ears are rimmed in black. Because of her long legs, Hafifu is capable of moving faster than most lions... but, like all others, she was not meant for long-distance running, and can only go for short bursts.
Personality: Hafifu is a very friendly and easy-going lioness. Though one might not think it now, she was once, and could possibly be again, very confident in herself and in others. She's a little jittery and nervous around other lions. She's very tender-hearted and caring. She could not stand to see another lion hurting, emotionally or physically, and would do her best to accomodate them in any way she possibly could to make them feel even just a little bit better. She was hurt deeply in her past when she was forced from her pride, and life on her own has made her much less trusting of other lions, despite her friendly nature.
Once a friend, Hafifu is very loyal. Naturally mischevious, she's also the one that's bound to pull pranks when she has little to do around the pride. Suprisingly enough, Hafifu can hold a long grudge if you upset her. Thankfully, however, most often if you upset her she simply won't speak with you for a day or two. After that, or if she recieves an apology, she acts as though she had never been upset. Though she is three years old, Hafifu is remarkably playful, and is often the first to join in a game with the cubs, if not the only lioness to join.
There are but a few notable downsides to this lioness's otherwise friendly personality... she may enjoy cubs, but mention or ask why she herself does not have any, and she becomes unusually irate... twice on the savannah did she attempt to have cubs, whether she wanted to or not. Both times, she did not concieve. ...she is barren. She also much deeper than one may realize, and she may seem to take insults and other dark words well, in truth she seems to store her frustrations inside until she's ready to burst... so she may seem irritable on rare occasions.
History: Zuri's first litter was to be born in the rainy season of her third year. She was only a Mtu in the Rivier Pride... and that was perhaps the greatest mistake she'd ever made, having cubs. In the breeding season she had been forcebred by a young male named Nyoka. His name suited him, for it meant "snake" and that was very much what he was deep in his heart: a vile adder on the savannah. At first, Zuri's pregnancy was easy to hide. But as her belly started to become swollen, it came to the Maliki's attention.
Zuri had always been a good lioness, and so she was not punished as harshly as some. She was demoted to Zia. By word of the Maliki, her cubs were to be killed, all but for one female. Zuri agreed, for she thought that to have at least one cub live would be good, rather than to lose all of them.
When Zuri's time came, she left the pride temporarily to give birth. She found an ancient baobab tree, and under the leafless tree gave birth to four cubs. The first two were twin males, the third, a female, and the fourth... the fourth was stillborn. Zuri did not mourn, but did send a silent prayer for the soul of the cub that never saw the world. After the birth of her children, Zuri moved them to a thick bush, for she knew the scent of her birth would attract predators. She moved the female first. Upon her return to carry the one of the males to the new location, she found that one had been claimed already by a hawk and could not be saved.
For a little over two weeks Zuri remained on her own with the cubs, then spoke to the Maliki. Her son was killed... but her daughter, named Hafifu which meant "light," was allowed to live as promised, and then was introduced to the pride.
Hafifu proved to be an outgoing and friendly cub. She was accepted amongst her peers easily, and made friends fast. In fact, she was like a magnet, and as she became friends with the others, their attention drifted from the Mrithi, Eusi. Eusi became jealous, and he alone seemed to hate Hafifu. Eusi never physically harmed the lioness cub, but he called her bitter names. Hafifu, however, was a kind and easy-going cub. His words did not bother her, at least ouwardly, and she would only smile and retort with something far better than any insult he could toss at her.
There was only once, ever, that Eusi chose to physically harm Hafifu. As she fought playfully with another lioness cub, he leapt at her from behind and drew his claws over the base of the back. The wound was deep, and once it healed, it left a long, pale scar... but only one, despite the fact that all four of Eusi's claws had met her skin.
As Hafifu grew, she proved to be very forgiving, and was as friendly as ever. When a new lioness came into the pride, it was always Hafifu who would come to them and make friends. Many with a troubled past came to Rivier Pride, and always they were treated by Hafifu with a gentleness and respect that would make them happy where they were.
By the time Eusi became the pride's Maliki, Hafifu was two years old, and more than half the pride considered her their friend, all but for Eusi and his Mshauri... and little did Hafifu or any other lioness or lion but Zuri know, that the new Mshauri was none other than Nyoka, Hafifu's father.
Eusi had carried his jealousy of Hafifu into adulthood, and it had become a deep hatred of the worst sorts. He waited only two days before forcing Hafifu from the pride. The lionesses cried out against him, but he forced them into silence. Hafifu became a loner then. She had never realized how deeply she had been hated by the new Maliki, and it stung her deeply to be forced away from her friends and family. After that, she was not quite the same lioness. She became a little more serious, and seemed on edge and nervous around others, where once she was easy-going and confident. Indeed, some things seemed to have hurt her more than she let show.
For a year, she roamed on her own... she did not look for a new pride, for she was scarred deeply by the loss of her friends, and it was their memory that kept her from finding a new home. She felt she could never have friends like those she had lost again... and if she ever did find friends like those, she feared losing them. But as she entered her third year, she found a small longing for companionship... one that would drive her to seek a new pride. Before she would be able to seek one, though, she would meet, and be forcebred, by two lions, and she would find herself unable to concieve...
Other: Ummm! Nothing for now... ...although I believe this is the longest app I've ever created in my life yet.
