Dida will no longer play with the Brazil national side, he said goodbye and asked that coach Dunga no longer call him up. In his eleven years with the national side, Dida (World Champion in 2002 as the third-choice goalkeeper) was called up 136 times. (Ansa)

That's sad... :( We miss one of the best goalkeepers of the world...
Hope the new one will be as good as Dida!
And what's his name? :scratchchin: I don't remember him..!? :P

Drizinha - October 2, 2006 08:06 PM (GMT)
Probably he wants to give chances to the younger players...
I mean he is like 32 now.. and maybe he thinks he better quit so new talents can come (just like Juninho did)
Brazil still has excellent goalkeepers like Alex and Rogerio Ceni (which is my fav)
anyway, of course he will be missed and is sad that a great player says goodbye. but won't be such a nightmare!
:)

censorthiis - October 2, 2006 11:59 PM (GMT)
I love Dida, but I respect his wishes and hope for his best anyway. :)

owh so sad.... :o

Elena - October 3, 2006 09:45 AM (GMT)
yeah it's sad..i'll miss him but i think he did that cuz dunga didn't call him up for the matches against wales, norway(well..) , argentina and kuwait (right!?). so it's better for him to say goodbye himself as being "kicked out" of the brazilian national team.
well, it's pretty sad but we've to respect his decisions.

MeSsSsI - October 3, 2006 10:58 AM (GMT)
Dida will not play for Milan next season too! :cry3:

AC Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani says they'll land a suitable replacement should goalkeeper Dida choose to leave at the end of this season.
"It's a simple situation. His contract expires at the end of 2007. He hasn't signed an extension, but I think it's legitimate that a club and player can reach a decision to continue or not. If he doesn't put pen to paper, Dida would remain our first choice until the last day of the season," the Milan transfer guru told Sky Italia.

"If he does leave us, then we'd thank him for everything he has done and find a new goalkeeper. I hope he does extend, and he's never said that he won't, but he's not irreplaceable."

QUOTE
AC Milan chief Ariedo Braida doesn't want to lose goalkeeper Dida.
The Brazilian is inside the final 12 months of his current contract and can leave the San Siro for nothing next June.

The decision to stay rests with Dida, who will consider all aspects of extending his contract with Milan, including whether he can still work with coach Carlo Ancelotti and his backroom staff.

that's too bad he's leaving. But if he is leaving because he wants to give younger players a chance, than i guess it's ok.
