Title: Books to Recommend
Description: any fav to recommend books?
alessandra - June 3, 2008 05:04 AM (GMT)
I've been trying to find a good read. So far I've been highly recommended to read Twilight lo by like 20 girls lmao so im just curious about what others have read. So you could just poost a title adn why you recommend it lol or just what you liked about the book :)
i go first? y/y? okay... :P
Its actually a book im reading at school and its actually good its called "Girl in Hyacinth Blue" by Susan Vreeland. its like about how theres this one painting (made up by author) and its by a Vermeer so through the whole book it goes backwards in time to who really had it first and how it affected everyone in different ways. it sounds boring  but really it's really good :D

Yes i just finished readin twilight a couple of days ago, its really great.
I havent read any really good books though besides twilight
those of u that havent read the first Gossip girl novel, u should read it, its a long book series & i have only read two books & out of them two the first is the best.
harry potter & order of the phoinex is the best HP book in my opinion.
also another book im just halfway through but its ok its called: Bad kitty

owh, i wanted to read gossip girl books...... :)
Hmm, for those who are tired of Harry Potter ;) , Septimus Heap is okay. It's children's story, but i don't care.I'm addicted to the book. I've read 3 of the 4 books. & i read that there will be a movie bout it soon! :hyper: :hyper:
I also like the Merde series by Stephen Clarke.
& Narnia :P & the Series of Unfortunate Events books. Ok, children's books, but they're the best :D :D :D

Awe, this topic is awesome cuz I adore reading books! Leila will be excited too I guess!! :bounce: So my favorite books are the following:
Harry Potter: All the books of Harry Potter are great. My favorites though are the 3rd, 5th and 6th. The story is about a young boy who learns one day he's a wizard so he has to attend Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, he makes new friends and has to face challenges. I think that the books are awesome, full of imagination and also there are some messages about friendship, love, courage etc.
When Nietzsche Wept: A book about Nietzsche and another doctor who tries to make psychoanalysis to Nietzsche but they end up being psychoanalyzed both of them. It's a great book full of quotes of Nietzsche such as "What doesn't kill me makes me stronger".
The Da Vinci Code: I liked this one because it describes Da Vinci's art so fully!! And there's mystery too!
Illuminati: It's written by Dan Brown too like the previous one so you can imagine that it's full of adventure and information about art and sciences
Pride and Prejudice: Awesome book!! The writer analyzes the characters deeply. And I have to confess.... Mr. Darcy owns my heart! :latente: I won't settle for something less than Mr. Darcy...

I love that book too! We watched the movie in our english class.Funny because me & my friends were head over heals in love with the character Mr Darcy (& the actor too). I remember when Mr darcy proposed to Elizabeth, and me & my girlfriends were like, 'I do!!!!'
My other faves:
Wuthering Heights (as old as Pride & Prejudice...), and
Heaven, Texas. It's a bout a plain girl having a job as a manager to an ex-American football star. He reminds me of Cristiano Ronaldo (he lives for money, cars, mansions & loads of girls... :D ). He got tired of girls in the end & announced to some socialites that his plain manager was his wife! Well, the story gives me something to hope for.....
:) :)

mmmhh...the one and only book I can recommend is "Oł est-tu" (Where are you) by Marc Levy...
It was hard to read at the beginign very boring but I read the end=250pages in one afternoon and I was crying like a baby my mom was making fun of me I remember it like yesterday...
It's the story of a guy and woman who are lovers but don't have an exclusive relationship cause the woman is always in a foreign country and the only place where they can meet is New York airport, always at the same table and eating the same thing. Many things happen (I'm not gonan tell you everything) but the end is very sad...
The other book I recommend is also by Marc Levy it's If only it were true [ there's a movie from the book : Just like heaven but it is a disatser for me, usually you can say books are always better than movies even if the movie is quite good but this movie is horrible they changed the whole story, it is ridiculous!]
anw it's a man who rents a flat and the ghost of the person who used to live there and who's in coma comes to visit him they fall in love, the man think it's stupid cause when she will wake up she won't remember him...
and I love reading, I love the Gossip girl series, every Sophie Kinsella book(especially the shopaholic serie), and The Alchemist by Paulo Cohelo...it's a classic....anyway I stop here the list is too long and my post may become too huge(what it's already?lol)

I know! It's so thin! I was supposed to finish it within 3 days!
But I found it a bit boring and have forgotten it. Plus, I rarely had time to read books or I was too tired (that's an excuse because books is the best solution when i feel tired)
It happened to me once again. I had started a book but didn't like it so when I tried after years to read it I found it awesome! lol
Well the part where I am in the book is boring. The girl that Dorian loved is dead and now I can't understand what I'm reading. Loads of pages with just the thoughts of D.G? Not sure though... I'll tell you in few years!

I read both, try the original one, for me it was really good; I had to make an oral presention about this book when I was in 5th course and won the competition. It gives me good memories, and has a good message. :D
Stella Joeff - June 5, 2008 09:50 AM (GMT)
I read that book years ago :). I'll read the original one Adri!
but after i finish readind P&P.
I have Sense & Sensibility (by the same author who wrote Pride & Prejudice) but i haven't read it at all. Doesn't really have the sparkle of P&P. I read Phantom of The Opera too. Okay, i'm a classical junkie.............
Omg, i love this topic
kowthεr - June 6, 2008 11:14 PM (GMT)
Lol, seems like you girls are big on fantasy. I hate fantasy :o
I fell asleep reading HP, and have only enjoyed reading one fantasy book.
Some people read books to escape reality but not me. I'm more of a realistic kinda girl, Vampires and Wizards make me yawn. I like reading National Geographics!
okay yea, I do, its my inner nerdness. But you know what? I really find them interesting. :P
K!M - June 7, 2008 01:14 AM (GMT)
I read both. Realistic and Non.
My library is made up of books on cultures and countries (geography my geeky passion X]) and also Harry Potter, Narnia, that stuff.
I like them all really.
I used to like the vampire series. But it's getting a bit too much now. Like HP and Narnia take place in 'other lands' but the Twilight series is about vampires in real life. ehh. Too much.
I do like the first one though. The other two are just like i said too much.
And I am trying so hard to read a book in spanish but it's so hard. :(
Well for me, it's like i can read the first two pages but if i dont keep reading and pick up on it a day or two after i forget what i read. >:[
They have such big words! =[

I have 3 Harry Potter books and all the Twilight ones but never touched them. Okay, only when I put them on my shelve. Seriously, I've attempted to read them but failed miserably. aha.
Aww, I wanna learn Spanish!
alessandra - June 7, 2008 07:46 AM (GMT)
is it bad that i've never read a harry potter book?
zar - June 7, 2008 08:41 AM (GMT)
just a bit yeah :P lol
Books that i really enjoyed reading are:
Afghanistan, were God only somes to weep : Its the saddest, most depressing book i've ever read in my life...so if you need to cry then this is the perfect book.
Jane Eyre: for some reason i liked it
The Da Vinci Code: really great...couldnt put it down
Harry Potter: I'm crazy when it comes to HP
and when i think of more i'll post them lol
just thought of a few more:
My Forbiden Face: a good read
The diary of a young girl,Anne Frank: I liked it...really sad though
Interview with a vampire: My FAV book
harmfulsweetz - June 11, 2008 11:34 AM (GMT)
I was contemplating adding my favourite list of books, but they are rather gruesome, and gory but extremely good. Here they are:
(Guess the pattern  )
Pig Island-Mo Hayder,
Joe Oakes ventures to the Hebrides, off the coast of Scotland, in order to 'demyth' or whatever some local "ghost story". A lot of murder, and a lot shocks, and an absolutely superb but twisted end. A must read.
Birdman-Mo Hayder (I love her books)
Dt. Ins. Jack Caffery has to deal with a serial killer with a penchant for mutilation and birds (odd combo). Really engrossing, keeps you guessing, but I was also kind of screaming at the pages for the blooming guy to figure it out, because I was already there. But the ending was amazing, all the way through it was amazing.
The Harry Potter Books, all of them. I read all 6 in a month, and waited for the seventh patiently, only to finish it in 2 days. :D
When I think of more, I will post them. Wanting Brick Lane by Monica Ali, and in the middle of reading Ritual by Mo Hayder (is amazing)
x :grinn:
