Title: Kaka Knee surgery

kencini8287 - May 22, 2008 12:03 PM (GMT)
World Player of the Year Kaka will meet a specialist in Brazil to determine whether he needs surgery on his knee, AC Milan confirmed on Thursday.

Brazil’s Globo television reported on Wednesday that he would be examined by Brazil team doctor Jose Luis Runco in Rio de Janeiro.

“AC Milan communicates that Kaka will undergo a specialist examination in Brazil to verify the condition of his left knee,” the club said in a statement on its Web site (www.acmilan.com.)

“The examination will be performed by the medical staff of the Brazilian national team in the presence of club doctor Massimiliano Sala.”

The surgery would put Kaka out of action for about 15 days, ruling him out of friendlies against Canada and Venezuela, the report said. He could also miss next month’s World Cup qualifiers away to Paraguay and at home to Argentina.

On Sunday, AC Milan said they would not allow him to take part in the Olympic Games tournament as an over-age player. The 26-year-old has been troubled this season by fitness problems.

Milan playmaker Kaka will undergo an operation to his left knee on Friday and face a lengthy lay off, the club have revealed

The Rossoneri's magician is currently in Brazil where he underwent examinations to his knee by both Milan and the Brazil squad doctors.

The tests confirmed the worst and the club have announced that he requires surgery.

“Kaka will undergo surgery to his left knee on Friday and his rehabilitation period will be confirmed by Professor Runco, who will carry out the operation,” read a statement on the club’s official website.

The player has been complaining of severe pain in his knee for most of the season but he has carried on nevertheless.

However, he is now likely to miss Brazil’s summer tour of the United States as well as two vital World Cup 2010 qualifiers against Paraguay and Argentina in August.

It is not yet known how long Kaka will be out for, but it seems like it will take several weeks before he is back on the training pitch.

Milan will be hoping he makes a quick recovery as they will need him back in top condition for next season as they look to mount a serious challenge for the Scudetto next season.

Drizinha - May 22, 2008 11:34 PM (GMT)
This means he'll be ok when next season starts? He'll have a lot of time to rest then, it was better not to play Olympics after all, he wasn't good with his knee.
God bless you Ricardo, good luck and be healthy.

Kaka feels pain in knee and will be sidelined for another 15 days

BRASILIA, Aug. 2 (Xinhua) -- Despite the recent arthroscopic knee surgery that took place months ago, Kaka relived sharp pains in his left knee on Saturday.

In a match between Milan of Italy and Sevilla of Spain, the player reluctantly asked to be taken out of the game because he felt pains of what he considers to be tendonitis.

In May earlier this year, Kaka underwent corrective surgery on his left knee. The player was expected to recover quickly as the head coach of the Brazilian national soccer team, Dunga, counted on his presence during this year's Olympic Games in Beijing.

However, the player was not liberated by his Italian team, Milan, to participate in the Olympics. His teammate at Milan, Alexandre Pato, was cleared to play and will be playing along side the team's main attraction, Ronaldinho.

The 15 days allocated to Kaka's recovery from Saturday's scare are optimistic. The player may well need much more time to recover, not only physically, but mentally as well.

Kaka's surgery that took place in the city of Rio de Janeiro in the month of May earlier this year was performed by the Brazilian national team doctor, Jose Luiz Runco. If necessary, Kaka will return to Brazil to receive a check-up from doctor Runco as well as an examination of his current status.

Kaka: "I'm in bad shape"

Milan’s woes increase as Kaka admits his knee problem is so bad he isn’t sure when he’ll be able to play again.

“I am in bad shape. I don’t know when I’ll be back,” he told journalists this evening.

The Brazilian limped off during this week’s 1-0 defeat to Sevilla in Moscow and was ruled out of today’s 5-0 thrashing by Chelsea.

Officially the club website would only confirm it was “an inflammation of the knee,” but reports from Brazil paint a far darker picture.

They suggest it is a case of tendonitis in the same knee that underwent surgery in May and will keep him on the sidelines for at least two weeks.

With Ronaldinho and Alexandre Pato at the Olympics, Marco Borriello out for two months following meniscus ligament surgery on his knee and Pippo Inzaghi dealing with recurring muscular problems, this leaves Milan with no strikers.

Only 18-year-old Alberto Paloschi is available and he cannot play two games on the trot. Paloschi was left on the bench for today’s 5-0 defeat to Chelsea in a line-up so reshuffled that Massimo Ambrosini and Andrea Pirlo had to play upfront.

With this situation deteriorating and Robinho’s admission he wants to join Chelsea, it is increasingly likely that the Rossoneri will make a bid to bring Andriy Shevchenko back to San Siro.

Sheva faced his former club for the first time since making that Ł30m move in Moscow and it provides the two sides with the perfect opportunity to discuss his future.
