Title: kaka not allowed to participate at the Olympics

kencini8287 - May 19, 2008 11:23 AM (GMT)
MILAN - The 2008 Olympics and the Brazilian national team. Here's the situation as made clear by the Rossoneri's general manager Adriano Galliani, who through a declaration to the Official Website ACMilan.com, he stated: "Ahead of the Chinese Olympic games, Milan confirms that they will allow the under 23 players like Alexandre Pato and Rodrigo Digao, who are currently in the pre-list of the called-up players, to take part.
However, Milan will not allow this permission to an over 23 player like Kaka for the simple reason that the Brazilian champion is already part of the Brazilian national team. The Rossoneri's club does not believe that it is fair that Kaka is included in the official games of the Brazilian Olympic national team."

it wouldn't have been a problem if they qualified to champions league..
but now what is the reason for refusing??

Lilas - May 19, 2008 01:04 PM (GMT)
Haha this is the worst excuse I've ever heard!

Anyway...I can understand that Milan doesn't want to let him pley though...
The Olympics are in August the scudetto starts again in August...they want to have fresh players for the new season...fair enough!

zar - May 19, 2008 02:17 PM (GMT)

this is what i think:

STUPID! God! could you not come up with a better excuse...3 yr olds could do better

azzurri_kaka22 - May 19, 2008 02:22 PM (GMT)
I don't know whether if Milan were being harsh or if it is fair, i don't think it's stupid but it's not right... but then again Milan need him & after all he is over the age so Milan didn't have to let him go so....

Stupidest thing ever.
Um, why don't they just stick to the rulebooks instead of making up unbelievable bs?
And, if it's true that acm won't let him play 'cause they want him fit for next season, that's kinda selfish don't ya think? I mean, it's kinda his dream and all...Anyways, I understand where the reason is coming from 'cause Kaka is always saying he "needs rest" or something.
He'll make his statement soon enough.

kiriyaganesh - May 20, 2008 08:17 AM (GMT)

or something else is there?!!!! im confused!!!!  he said kaka is already part of the brazil NT. soooooooo anybody can clear this ....

Stella Joeff - May 22, 2008 01:52 AM (GMT)
Only Pato & Digao are allowed to go.

Kaka is part of the NT. The players for the Olympics meanwhile are not the NT, they're just Under-23. That's how i understand it. :scratchchin:

Kaka: I Wanted To Play At Olympics

Milan superstar Kaka has revealed his disappointment at not being permitted by his club to represent Brazil at this summer's Olympics. All teams participating at the Olympic games in Beijing are allowed to select three players over the age of 23, and Brazil had wanted to call-up Kaka.

However last week Milan Vice President Adriano Galliani issued a statement in which he made it perfectly clear that the European and World Footballer of the Year would not be allowed to be selected.

This decision appears to have upset Kaka a little, even if he has accepted Milan’s wishes.

"I did everything I possibly could so that I could play at the Olympics,” stressed the 26-year-old.

“I made myself available. However, AC Milan have decided otherwise, and I have accepted it.”

Kaka also spoke about his knee operation, and he hopes to return to action much sooner than the three months that some sources have been predicting.

"This is the first time that I have had to have surgery, but unfortunately it could not be avoided,” he explained.

“We have tried, together with staff of Milan to do our best, but evidently it has not been enough. I hope to return soon, and I want to be on the pitch for the two World Cup 2010 qualifiers against Argentina and Paraguay [next month]."

I feel sad :(

Drizinha - May 24, 2008 02:56 AM (GMT)
It's annoying that it's Milan who decided not to let him go, they are being unfair. Very sad for him. =( Anyways, good luck Ricardo... I also hope to see you soon in the pitches.

Lilas - May 24, 2008 10:44 AM (GMT)
Wait....I just realized something in Olympics it's only under 23 players....errr from when Ricky is an under 23 player???

Read that Messi said he will go anyways cause in 4years...he won't be 23anymore!d'oh!

Stella Joeff - May 24, 2008 10:51 AM (GMT)
Each country allows to have 3 over age players.....that's what i read.
:scratchchin:
poor Ricky. looks like he really wanted to play in the olympics..... All the best for his recovery. :) :)

bruNETka - May 24, 2008 12:37 PM (GMT)
it's a pitty that he was not allowed but how he can participate if his injury is serious and he needed surgery? I think unless his knee problem Milan will let him play because Olimpic ends before new season. Just imagine what would be if he continue playing with knee injury, the examination of knee showed the worse result that is why he was operated so i think he should think about recovering and about his health) he can be one of over age palayers in next Olimpic games if he will continuedoing well) It's a great motivation)
