Report: Flamini signs for Milan
Saturday 3 May, 2008

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

According to reports in Italy this evening, Mathieu Flamini has put pen to paper on a Milan contract after rejecting Arsenal’s terms.

The midfielder’s future has been up in the air for some time, as his contract with the Gunners expires at the end of the season.

Arsene Wenger extended the deadline for Flamini to give an answer to Monday, but that probably won’t be necessary.

According to Sky Italia, the French star has already signed a four-year contract worth £4.3m per season.

It is a slight change from the expected five-year deal worth £3.1m per term that had been mentioned in the Press.

Juventus had also been in the race to snatch up Flamini, but Milan appear to have secured his signature or at the very least a promise.

There is no official word as yet from either Arsenal or the Rossoneri.

“It will be sorted out over the weekend, and will he stay or not is down to him,” said Wenger earlier today.

“But we cannot afford not to keep our wage structure. We have a £360m debt and we have to respect the structure or we will go bust.”

Flamini had been offered a contract worth in the region of £55,000 per week.

Alexander Hleb is in a similar situation and has repeatedly been linked with Inter – something the Nerazzurri have firmly denied.

I like him.. I think he's very good. So I'm hoping it's true
The only thing that worries me is the Gattuso situation  He must not leave.. it would break my heart! He's too important for us

Yeah he flew off to Milan right after the Everton match :( Aww, I was so upset! During the game, Cesc, Hleb, Flamini and Rosicky(who are best friends btw) were laughing and joking and tickling each other and one hour later he's off to Milan?
Grrr! And on Cesc's birthday too!
I don't know if he'll succeed in Milan because frankly, Cesc makes him look much better than he really is if you get what I mean. Still, he's improved leaps and bounds and I wouldn't be surprised if he cracks into Milan's first-team. He's class and during the Milan-Arsenal match, him and Cesc were scarily wonderful and I think that's what attracted Milan :(

We already have a french player in Milan???really??
Oh yes the one that keeps the bench hot...imagine if the bench ever has flue...

Well I just hope HE will play and that Mr Ancelotti won't ruin his career like he did with the official Milan bench "hotter"!

I don't know him though...he played for Arsenal?...that's maybe the reason why I never heard of him!

Kaka_yllka - May 5, 2008 05:26 PM (GMT)
Well, about bench "hotter" I agree. It is really sad!
About Flamini eh....(I love ur sarcasm Lilas  ) u will know(like) him now that he plays for us :P
I remember he was the greatest in the match against Milan <_< That's why I din't want him in our team  ...but now I hope he will do great with such great palyers we have in our team.

Lilas - May 5, 2008 05:32 PM (GMT)
I hope too...french players never had a great career in Milan (at least I'm thinking about Dorasso and Yoann) good luck to him anyways...we'll see what he's able to do on the pitch next season!

mmhh...I was wondring...are you sure "Matthieu" is spelled like this???it's weird and seems like something is missing isn't it "MathieuX"?with 1 "t" and the "x" we, french people like putting letters at the end of our words just for the pleasure of seeing them there! lol

Awww sammy! I'm sorry I know a lot of Arsenal fans are upset about this..

I just hope he's as good as he was against us, with us. And I hope he talks Yoann into staying. And I also hope that Carletto grows a f**king brain and plays them!

Welcome :) hope that he is a good choice :P

I don't know much about him either, considering I don't watch EPL :)
He isn't old, so that's a bonus lol.

Well let's hope he's great for us.

sam - May 6, 2008 04:24 AM (GMT)
Thanks Annie, but we all kinda knew he was leaving because he refused to sign the Arsenal contract for like, 2 months. Apparently, we didn't offer him enough money. Ah well.
Milan are bloody lucky to have him. He really really puts his heart and soul into the pitch. He's kinda like a younger version of Gattuso, except when we played against Milan, Flamini won and he even kept out Ricky.

I'm sorry for you Sam  I know what losing a player of your team means =/
and Leila don't be so pessimist about french guys in our team  Hopefully Carletto will prove him in some games and he does well, he'll stay, I'm sure.
In Yoann's case it's kinda hard to play him because we are already have other middlefielders, but it's ok, I also dislike how chances are not giving to him, so I get why many people is so angry about it.

I really wanna hear Flamini's declarations, I haven't heard or read anything coming from his mouth since he signed for Milan, anyway welcome boy and good luck!! :goooo: :goooo:

Kaka_yllka - May 6, 2008 06:45 PM (GMT)
“I am really happy, thanks to everyone, A 'Really Happy' Milanista '' :D

Oh don't worry Milan payed him too much so they will not do with him same as with Yoann.

hmmm....Do Milan really sign him for...free??? That's what the newspaper said this morning..... :scratchchin: Hmmmm...

I dunno much bout him either, but my uncle who is a Arsenal fan really speaks highly of him :) Maybe he will do wonders...

welcome to milan, Mate...... :winner: :clapp:

sam - May 7, 2008 05:28 AM (GMT)
yes Milan signed him for free because he was out of contract at Arsenal. I can say without doubt that he is the player who has improved the most in the space of one year. It's quite scary! Last season everyone was going, "SELL FLAMINI!" because he really was terrible. Then this season, he's world-class.
Milan are very lucky :( But you know, I'd rather him go to Milan than to Juve or Inter so I'm okay. He's fantastic, this Flamini. Think of him as a younger, more energetic version of Gattuso.
Thanks Adri!

don't worry sam, even if he's out of arsenal, you can still see him in Milan...

sam - May 7, 2008 01:08 PM (GMT)
Haha yes. I'm glad he joined Milan because they're my 2nd team. OMG if he joined bloody Inter or Juve I would have run over to Italy and killed him I think.
