SAO PAULO, Brazil (AP) - Brazilians think Dunga is doing a better job as national team coach than Luiz Felipe Scolari and Carlos Alberto Parreira did at the start of their time in charge, a poll released Sunday showed.
Forty-four percent of those interviewed by the Datafolha polling institute said Dunga's performance so far has been "good" or "great," according to the survey published by the Folha de S. Paulo newspaper, Brazil's largest.
Parreira, the South Africa coach who led Brazil when it was eliminated by France in the quarterfinals of the 2006 World Cup in Germany, was approved by 39 percent of Brazilians in a similar poll by Datafolha in 2003.
Scolari, the Portugal coach who led Brazil to the 2002 World Cup title, was approved by only 37 percent of Brazilians in the beginning of his job.
The five-time world champions have won 16 of 24 matches and lost only twice under Dunga, a former defensive midfielder who helped Brazil win the 1994 World Cup in the United States. It won the Copa America tournament in July by beating rival Argentina 3-0 in the final.
Datafolha interviewed 11,786 people across Brazil between Nov. 26-29. The survey's margin of error is plus or minus 2 percentage points |
Well, I can say I didn't like Parreira specially for what happened in Germany, lol. what a shame. I think Dunga has a lot to improve yet, but also like that fact that he gives chances to young players (but some strange reason he does not like Diego.... ). Can't really think he's better than Scolari by the moment, this guy made Brazil win world cup 6 years ago and now is doing a great job with Portugal.
What do u think? :D
I like Dunga  , he plays new young players and is not afraid to bench Brazil's biggest stars. That's what the problem was in the WC '06...Brazil had their stars but some of them are just not as good as they once were anymore. And when Dunga arrived he started off with a clean slate. I like that about him.
Although, i do have a problem with him, about him not giving Diego any playing time!
but that's my only complaint. :proud:
and i think Scolari might have gotten the WC in '02 because back then Ronaldo,Dinho, etc. were all young players! They were in excellent shape! But you cannot keep using them as they grow older and expect them to have the same abilities. :)
Thanks for the interesting article! :muitobem:
I really like Dunga and he is doing a great job for his first time training  and he is different from others his giving chances to the young players contrary to Parreira , and i think that he still has a lot to learn and improve
But in general he is Great  :groupie:
and for Felipćo he is an excellent coach he proved it when he was with Brasil and now with Portugal , and i didn't want him to leave Brasil cause he was doing a fantastic job which no one would have ever expected and i really hope that he comes back to coach Brasil  :groupie:
Thanks for the article :flowers:
agree! dunga has done well so far. he also has had a lot of good players to choose from unlike for some other countries where if one player doesn't show up, the whole team could collapse
