| Brazil will have their new model jersey unveiled in the next World Cup classifier against Uruguay to be played on Wednesday 21st of November at Morumbi stadium in São Paulo... The Seleção are about the replace the 'dog collar' shirt that sank in Germany with another that is hoped to soon be immortalised as the shirt with which Brazil won their sixth World Cup in 2010 as the tournament reaches Africa for the first time - and four years before the Cup comes to Brazil. Nike have based their design on the model that Brazil wore to glory for the first time in Sweden 1958. The players have already donned the kit for a photo session at the Granja Comary training facilities at Teresópolis with a view to the fourth matchday. Although there are no major changes to the shirt aside from the collar, the difference is in another technological breakthrough that keeps the shirt hugging the body with the added edge that pulling shirts is now much more difficult for adversaries. The shorts are the same shade of blue with a white stripe down the side that harks back to previous designs and the socks have the five stars and a dedication to the fiftieth anniversary of the first World Cup win in Sweden. Although designed with the World Cup finals in mind, the kit will first be used in the Peking Olympic games in 2008 in the quest for a first-ever Gold Medal: the only major honour to have eluded the Canarinha despite the five-fold World Cup success. |
