The match is suspended cause the fans of Atalanta don't want it to continue and they were destroying the glass which separate the field

Lilas - November 11, 2007 02:40 PM (GMT)
The cool thing (if it's like in France) is if they don't let players play then Milan will have the 3 points...a bit unfair though...

ATLAS - November 11, 2007 03:13 PM (GMT)
This is actually a major defeat and utter disgrace to the world of football. The animals actually succeeded in canceling the match.

I'm completely lost, though. I've no clue as to why this happened. Any explanation would be appreciated.

fofinha - November 11, 2007 03:18 PM (GMT)
I heard that a fan (Lazio fan) was killed when he was going to see the match , soo that's why they didn't want that they play

QUOTE
The game between Inter and Lazio, in program today at 3pm (CET) at San Siro. has been postponed.

A Lazio fan was accidentally shot by a policeman during a fight which erupted between Lazio and Juventus fans at Arezzo.

Apparently, the Lazio fans cornered some Bianconeri fans in Arezzo, and a confrontation between the two set of fans degenerated into a fight.

Police arrived on location, and according to the latest information, a gunshot hit a Lazio fan who died instantly.

This tragic event occurred early this morning at around 9am. The rest of the Serie A program will go ahead, but all games will start with 10 or 15 minute delay as a sign of mourning.

News has since filtered through that the Atalanta-Milan game has also had to be suspended following crowd trouble.

QUOTE
The Atalanta-Milan game has been suspended after seven minutes of action due to fan violence.

The signs were ominous ever since news filtered through that a Lazio fan had been killed by the police. The Inter-Lazio game was immediately called off, but other games went ahead with a 15 minute delay.

While most games began without too much trouble, the Atalanta fans were not in a mood to take it lying down.

The ultras decided to express their displeasure by trying to break through the glass barriers between the stands and the pitch, just behind the Atalanta goal.

Objects were also thrown on the pitch, and at the police, and after just seven minutes, the referee had to halt the proceedings due to concerns over the safety of the players.

There were discussion all around, and after ten more minutes of uncertainty, the players headed down the tunnel.

There were attempts to calm the fans down, attempts that did succeed to an extent, but the players as much as the referee decided that it was best not to play under this cloud of uncertainty.

The game was officially suspended at 1540 CET, and will be rescheduled.

--annie-- - November 11, 2007 05:41 PM (GMT)
It seems the death of the Lazio fan was an accident and had nothing to do with football.. the incident didn't even happen in Milan where Inter-Lazio was going to be played.. that match was suspended out of respect to the fan (may he R.I.P.)
But all the other matches were supposed to be played.. it's just some Atlalanta fans are complete idiots and wanted the match postponed and they got it.

Edit: Oh! and Gila is injured (ankle)

kimi@ - November 11, 2007 07:17 PM (GMT)
Oh my God!He only wanted to support his favorite team and then :bearcry: It's painful.
This is not football.Football is a way to make people and countries close to each other not for...

Kaka_yllka - November 12, 2007 10:25 AM (GMT)
Very sad :(

Does anyone knows what will happen with Milan?Do we have to play or we'll get 3points....

edit:I wanna post the word of Grande Nesta about this match:

QUOTE
THE WORDS OF NESTA
11/11/2007
BERGAMO - Here are the declarations of Alessandro Nesta after the suspension of Atalanta-Milan: "All of us players came on the pitch convinced we would play, then unfortunately the fans started to break down the barriers that separated them from the pitch to have the match suspended, and at that moment there was no police on the pitch that could intervene. Football is the mirror image of what's going on outside the stadium."

bruNETka - November 12, 2007 05:17 PM (GMT)

farakaka - November 17, 2007 06:46 AM (GMT)
R.I.P. Gabriele Sandri :(
it is too bad for Serie A. its all about their problematic society, political and econimically, as i read.

Atalanta-Milan Match Rescheduled

The abandoned Serie A game between Atalanta and Milan will be replayed behind closed doors.

The match originally kicked off on November 11 and tensions were running high following the tragic death of Lazio supporter Gabriele Sandri earlier in the day.

Atalanta Ultras were determined to cause trouble and the game was abandoned after just eight minutes when they threatened to cause a riot if play continued.

Objects were hurled onto the pitch, while the safety glass separating the fans from the players was kicked and smashed.

There had been reports that Milan may be awarded a walkover 3-0 win for the game, but the Italian football federation has instead decided that it will be replayed at a later date.

All fans will be banned from attending the match, and indeed Atalanta supporters will not be allowed in the Curva Nord for over four months, until the April 6 clash with Inter.

Nerazzurri followers have also been forbidden from travelling to this weekend’s game against Inter at San Siro, as the authorities really come down hard on the Bergamo-based club.

I thought we could have the result 0-3
