Cannavaro press conference
"We work as a team"

Fabio Cannavaro spoke to the press today after spending today's training session in the gymnasium. The Italian gave his opinion of the season so far, discussed the team's work ethic, and spoke about this year's Balon D'Or candidates.

Schuster really wants to win the Champions League.
We're on the right track and we need to stay on it.

Who do you think will be your FIFPro World Player and Balon D'Or successor?
It's a hard call, but I am sure it will be Kaká. That's the name that comes up most, but there are also players like Pirlo, Ibrahimovic... There are many candidates.

There are only two Real Madrid players compared to Barcelona's seven on the list of FIFPro nominees. You are the League champions.
There's always a lot of talk about the list and you just have to accept it. We can't do anything about the names that appear. Barcelona may have more individual talent, but we are a team. That's the difference I see.

What has changed since last season? You appear a lot more comfortable.
It's no secret that last year was hard for me. You don't feel physically fit after winning something important. I didn't just win one, but four important things. I got a lot of rest over the summer, I am more relaxed and more comfortable, I felt good this first month, but you have to give credit to the team. We're winning almost every match and we're the top team in the League. That's been the key.

Are there still gaps in defence?
It's only normal that a First Division team creates scoring opportunities. I really liked the team's attitude over the first month. We attack when we have to and we fall back and suffer as a team when we have to, and both are essential to a team that wants to win the League.

You didn't include Messi among your favourites to win the Balon D'Or.
You just have to look at last season, not this one. He has gotten off to a phenomenal start and is doing incredibly well. Winning a World Cup or League is important.

Capello and Calderón crossed paths in a Madrid restaurant the other day and supposedly didn't say a word to each other.
I'm shocked because they are both very intelligent. I wasn't there so I can't comment. Everyone has their opinion, but no one knows what really took place.

Capello was seen celebrating Lazio's goals. He looked happy with the draw.
I didn't see him. I was playing.

Schuster's Real Madrid is more attack-minded, but it's the defence that has really stood out so far.
Things are going well this year. We're all working together. We struggled a lot at the start of last season, but we are focused on work this year and things are turning out for the best.

There's been a lot of talk about rotations, but you always play. Would you like to rest?
Sitting out a game is crucial when you play every three days. Some may not like it, but it's necessary for a team that aspires to win many titles.

Real Madrid may sign David Villa next season. How do you feel about that?
He's a good forward, but I think we're fine in that position. It's a matter for the Club, and I only speak about those I have at my side. We can discuss anything else next year.

Joan Laporta has publically said that his players should take it easy when playing for their national teams. Do you play at half-throttle with Italy?
No. I am always happy to play with Italy. Donning that shirt is very important to me. Representing my country is a huge responsibility. Every player should be very happy to be called up.

What are your thoughts on the Raúl-Spanish national team debate?
Controversy should be expected when the national team coach doesn't call up a player like Raúl, who has spent 15 years playing for the most important Club in the world and has always been its most representative player. I think it's better for us that he stays and rests because we need the best out of him.

How do you feel about Juve's return to Serie A?
They've got a long history and always play all-out. They are a strong team and I expect they'll have a good year

Codina press conference
"I learn a lot from Iker and Dudek"

Jordi Codina comes from the Club's youth system and he knows he will have to make great efforts to get chances to be the team's keeper this season. He hopes to get his chance to shine due to the large number of games the team will have to play this season.

What does the team do during training with such few players?
We focus on doing physical exercises. Our international teammates are also training with their national teams, so we try to keep fit too.

Do you hope to be an international someday?
Yes. I hope one day to be one of those who miss training due to being with his national team.

Barcelona's President recently said players should take it easy when they play for their national teams. What do you think of that as the Catalan that you are?
I don't share Barcelona's opinion. I don't think a player should take it easy when he's with the national team because playing for your country is the most important thing there is.

So, it's not right for sports to be politicized...
I am from Catalonia, but I've been here for a very long time and I feel truly Spanish. It's important to feel identified with your own country.

Your are the team's third keeper, but you always seem to be happy and excited. How do you do it?
I think it is important to always try to be excited about something. I know anyone would like to be in my shoes right now. It's hard to earn a spot on the team, but I learn a lot from this experience and I spend all of my days with some of the best players in the world.

Casillas to El Pais

"I'm fortunate to coincide with Raúl"

Currently training with the Spanish national team, Real Madrid goalkeeper Iker Casillas talked to Spanish daily El Pais about what it's like to share a dressing room with Raúl, a player he considers to be "going throught a great patch right now."

Playing for Spain:
"I've never wanted to draw attention to myself. Everyone expresses themselves in a different way. I have more caps and have played in more final stages than any of us here. I contribute what I have learned, although most of those that here already have some experience."

Raúl:
"I am fortunate to coincide with Raúl at Real Madrid because he is going through a great patch right now. This, however, is the national team, not Madrid. Everyone in this country thinks they are the national team coach. The day you have a girlfriend is the day you want to be single, and the day you're single is the day you want a girlfriend. I think we make too much of nothing."

Being a goalkeeper :
"If the centre-backs advance, then the keeper has to play further up as well. I can't stay back. Sometimes it forces me to act as a sweeper. They'll score a goal on me from the midfield some day and it will look great on television, but I may have saved seven long passes by anticipating what the rival attacker might do."

Training:
"We play piggy-in-the-middle and practice matches, and we get touches on the ball with the goalkeeper coach. We have to make the appropriate adjustments according to the changes football undergoes."

Alfredo Di Stéfano:
Don Alfredo always has something great to say. It must have been a pleasure having him as a teammate. He is a great person."

Robinho: I Can Play At My Best Under Schuster

QUOTE
Robinho is revelling in his new freedom under Bernd Schuster after revealing that he lost some of his energy performing defensive duties last season.

The Brazilian forward feels that he is able to play at his best with the German coach at the helm and admits he was not happy working with Fabio Capello.

This season has seen Robinho come to the fore and he is enjoying his football again without the duties that were imposed on him before.

"With Schuster I can play at my highest level. I know that he has real faith in me and he lets me play more where I like," he said.

"Capello had a different style, more defensive. He liked all the players to apply pressure, even the forwards.

"Schuster likes us to keep the ball and remain patient when in possession. That is the style that suits me best.

"With Capello there were times when I had to drop back a lot to mark and when I was on the attack in one against one situations I was not as strong.

"With Schuster, things are better for me because I do not have so many other duties and I am fresher going forward.

After scoring twice against Olympiacos as he led the Madrid fightback, Robinho admitted that he was pleased, but still has plenty more to prove.

"It was a good performance, but I am not happy with that. I am pleased, but I have to think about the larger scheme of things," he explained.

"I have to remember I have improved and then in the next came play just as well, if not better.

"I am improving an every game is a story in itself. If the move requires stepovers then I do them, but only responsibly and I always look for a way to goal.

That's a good thing

Robinho: I Dream Of Being The Best
QUOTE
Real Madrid sporting director Pedja Mijatovic might have already declared Robinho the world's greatest player, but the Brazilian winger himself insists that he has some way left to go...

Robinho took a while to get going, but eventually came good as Real Madrid ran out 3-1 winners over Deportivo La Coruna at the Bernabeu on Sunday.

The Brazilian winger netted the third goal, continuing the fine form that began with victory over Olympiakos midweek, a match in which Robinho played a key role.

Real Madrid sporting director Pedja Mijatovic declared Robinho "the world's best" in the aftermath of that encounter, although the player himself today revealed that this isn't an accolade that he would self-apply - yet.

He told Radio Marca, "I dream of being the best, but I must work hard."

Robinho was said by some to have started slowly at Real Madrid, with the 23 year old now claiming that Bernd Schuster's style of play suits him better, hence the improvement.

The former Santos man also praised the supporters for their efforts, saying, "I'm delighted with the fans.

"And now my obligation is to live up to their expectations on the pitch."

Robinho arrived at Madrid in 2005.

Van Nistelrooy: Real Madrid captain Raul living legend

Ruud van Nistelrooy has described Real Madrid captain Raul as a "living legend" after they both scored in yesterday's 3-1 victory over Deportivo La Coruna.

Real had to come-from-behind again to see off brave Depor and Van Nistelrooy remarked: "I cannot explain the reasons for our bad starts. When we play away from home, we're much more motivated. The first minutes of the game were very good on our part, but they scored very quickly and made it difficult for us.

"Nevertheless, in the second half we were far better. This season we have won all the games played at the Bernabeu.

"What can be said about Raul? He is a living legend at 31 years of age. He is the leader of this team and an exceptional person."

wow. it is almost impossible to imagine REAL without RAUL. With no one to replace him, the REAL ICON might be forced to play more games than he has to. Both GUTI and RAUL are essential part of REAL now and the near future :) ~~~OH RAUL~~~

Heinze And Cannavaro May Make Valencia Clash

QUOTE
Fabio Cannavaro and Gabriel Heinze are expected to return to the Real Madrid lineup in time for Wednesday's match with Valencia, but there do remain minor question marks over their fitness...

Fabio Cannavaro and Gabriel Heinze could be fit in time for Wednesday night's meeting with Valencia at the Mestalla.

The defensive pair were sorely missed against Deportivo on Sunday, with Marcelo deputising for the Argentine, and Metzelder and Sergio Ramos playing centrally in the absence of Cannavaro.

Should the pair return, Sergio Ramos will be able to return to his native right-back position, sending Michel Salgado to the bench, while Heinze should retake the left-back slot.

However, there are still injury issues. Arjen Robben remains out, and centre-back Pepe will almost definitely miss this encounter.

Some other changes may be forthcoming due to form concerns and not fitness issues. Saviola could drop out of the side for Raul, while Higuain may lose his berth out wide as coach Bernd Schuster seeks more cutting edge.

Real Madrid remain top after that win over Depor, having 22 points from a possible 27.

Schuster Wants Fred For Christmas
QUOTE
Bernd Schuster has told Predrag Mijatovic that he would like to sign Fred from Olympique Lyonnais in January and off-load Roberto Soldado and Julio Baptista.

Real Madrid have a litany of attacking options, but the German coach is determined to bring in his own man to help bolster the forward line.

After failing to land Diego Milito in the summer, Fred has now been identified as player that could be prised away from his club in the winter transfer window.

While the 24-year-old would be ineligible for the Champions League, it would give Schuster the option to switch him and Ruud Van Nistelrooy in domestic games.

Schuster is reported to have not much faith in Javier Saviola, Roberto Soldado or Julio Baptista, while he views Robinho and Gonzalo Higuaín as preferable in deeper positions.

Lyon president Jean Michel Aulas is already aware of the interest from the Spanish giants, according to Sport, and is willing to listen to their offer.

If a bid is successful then Madrid will need to off-load one of their three non-European players that are currently filling the allotted spaces in their squad.

While Robinho and Mahamadou Diarra are fixtures in the side, Marcelo has failed to win over his new boss and could be loaned out in the New Year to make way for the new arrival.

After spending nearly €115m in the summer on new arrivals, Madrid will be cautious not to offer over the odds for Fred, but are prepared to back their coach with the players he wants.

Cannavaro: Raul Is Magnificent
QUOTE
Fabio Cannavaro told Spanish sports daily As of his admiration for Raul, and his respect for coach Bernd Schuster's way of doing things...

Fabio Cannavaro feels that Raul's never-say-die attitude is emblematic of Real Madrid, and that the veteran captain deserves more respect.

The Italian defender told Spanish sports daily As, "He's magnificent.

"What's happening with Raul now is the same as what's going in with [Alessandro] Del Piero at Juventus. People get involved and say he has to retire, then he responds with goals. That's what's happening with Raul.

"And our captain is a symbol, an emblem of Real Madrid."

Raul may have remained constant, but the Bernabeu side have seen many other changes in recent months, not least the departure of coach Fabio Capello, to be replaced by Bernd Schuster.

Some felt that Cannavaro may have lost out in the transition, but the World Cup winner insists that he's delighted to work under Schuster.

"I feel very good with him," he insisted.

"At the start of the season, everyone said that I was Capello's man, that I would react differently to the changes.

"But in truth, I've not always played under Capello. I played more than 500 matches with the likes of Napoli, the Italian national team and the top flight... and spent just three years with Capello.

"We won three leagues together, but now I'm with Schuster and I love how he works, and I like the relationship that he has with us.

"We're not playing well at the moment but the most important thing is that we have confidence and are keen.

"The club's kept confidence in me and I appreciate it. Now I have to repay the trust that's been put in me since the start. We have to do our job, and I'm happy to be with Madrid and be able to do so.

"It's true that the football style is different, but we've signed quality. The main difference is that we've played with one central midfield instead of just two, but we retain the same mentality: keep winning, stay together, and work well during the week."

Cannavaro's eager to succeed both at a domestic and European level, and feels that, on the home front, the Merengues have the advantage over their fierce rivals, FC Barcelona.

"Last year there was more pressure on us, and now it's coming for them," he said.

"The problems have moved there; we're calmer and more detached."

Real Madrid and Cannavaro - recovered from injury - face Valencia on Wednesday.

Madrid Chase Sporting Pair Veloso And Moutinho

QUOTE
Spanish sports daily Marca contends that Real Madrid are hot on the heels of Sporting Lisbon duo Miguel Veloso and Joao Moutinho...

Real Madrid are said to be hot on the trail of Sporting Lisbon pair Miguel Veloso and Joao Moutinho.

Veloso, pictured here in battle with Inter's Luis Figo, made the breakthrough to the Sporting first team last season and quickly established himself as a regular.

After taking part in the Euro U-21 Championships of 2007, he then made the breakthrough to the full national side, for whom he has two caps.

The versatile 21 year old can play on the left or in the middle, usually in a defensive role.

Moutinho, meanwhile, is more established, despite being the same age as Veloso. He debuted in the league a year earlier, having played in the Portuguese Cup as early as 2005.

He is an attacking midfielder but is also valued for his leadership ability, having been appointed a vice-captain at the end of last season and full captain for this campaign.

According to Marca, a Real Madrid scout has twice been deployed to watch Sporting in action; once at a home game in Lisbon, and once in Italy as the Verde-e-Brancos traveled to face AS Roma.

Real Madrid's last signing from the Portuguese league, Pepe, arrived in summer from Porto for a fee of 30 million euros. However the centre-back has spent the bulk of the campaign so far laid up with injury.

hahahaha the same thing :P  as always

My Best Birthday Present - Guti

QUOTE
Real Madrid midfielder Guti was in jubilant mood after the 5-1 win over Valencia at the Mestalla.
Happy Birthday

"We played well from the start against a team that isn't currently going through its best moment," he said after the game.

"Scoring the first goal so soon calmed us down and allowed us to play our game.

"We scored practically from every chance we got."

The midfielder also turned 31 on the day, and thus had more than one reason to celebrate.

This is the best present I could have hoped for on my birthday," he beamed.

"We had a very defensive midfield at the beginning, putting pressure on Silva, Valencia's most important player."

Difficult Sevilla Clash

"Today was set to be a complicated game and our match this weekend will probably be difficult," he continued, looking ahead.

"Winning tonight gives us confidence to win in Seville."

"Many people have been saying that we don't play well, but we always do very well in important games and away from home.

"The game against Sevilla will be difficult because their morale is high, but we have faith in our style."

Robinho: I'm Not The New Zidane

QUOTE
Real Madrid midfielder Robinho has been on form lately, and now feels that his Real Madrid side are beginning to operate to their full potential, too...

Robinho couldn't hide his delight in the aftermath of Real Madrid's 5-1 win at the Mestalla against Valencia.

The young winger told As, ""Against Valencia, we saw the Real Madrid that we all want to see.

"We enjoyed it and knew that it was a very important clash, and after Raul scored, we knew that we could manage something significant.

"After that, we were a machine. That was the Madrid that Schuster, the fans and the players all want.

"But we need to be careful: if we lose against Sevilla, Valencia may only be three points behind us."

Robinho restated Real Madrid's commitment to attractive football, saying that it was a product of confidence and relaxation.

"Our main goal is to win, but we also want to play well, too," he added.

"I usually compare Real Madrid to Brazil: it's not just about victory, but playing beautiful football.

"Why didn't we do so earlier? We needed to enjoy and have fun with football."

As well as enjoying football, the Brazilian international feels that Madrid always rise to the occasion in the big games.

"I think that we play our best against the top teams. I have superb confidence in Real Madrid.," he said.

"I know that it's at crucial moments when the players start to show their capabilities. It's these games that tell people that we're here and ready to fight for the title.

"That's what we did in Valencia, and that's what we'll do in Seville.

"They're playing well at the moment. Last season they had a fantastic season and still have good players. And they're already gelled together, having a settled squad that's been around for a while.

"They play well together: they all defend and attack as one. It's a true team.

"My own play there? I'll try to make a match that people enjoy a lot. I hope that it's an attractive game and that Madrid win again.

"I'm working hard this year, and I think that I can play well. First and foremost I want Madrid to win titles in all our competitions, and to enjoy myself as well.

"I prefer playing on the left; it's my natural side and I feel I have more possibilities there. That's not to say that I can't play on the right; just, I prefer the left.

"Zidane's successor? He was a unique player. He had unbelievable quality. I learned so much from him and I'm proud to have played alongside him. I want to have the success that he had, playing with joy and making the Bernabeu crowd happy.

"Does that make me the new Zizou? No, the new Zizou is much more! Zizou is Zizou, Robinho is Robinho. I still have much to learn and want to do all the good things that he did."

QUOTE

Manzano Dreams Of Bernabeu Success

QUOTE
Real Mallorca coach Gregorio Manzano has set his sights - or at least his hopes - on a fine performance and a good result away to Real Madrid...

Mallorca boss Gregorio Manzano is dreaming of a happy ending at the Bernabeu this weekend.

The former Malaga boss told Marca, "I dream of winning and playing a good match at the Bernabeu.

"However, Madrid will always be the favourites against Mallorca.

"Still, in recent visits we've given a good account of ourselves at the Bernabeu.

"One of the keys to our team will be to be comapct and balanced in all of our lines.

"But, if we enter into a battle of head-to-head, then our chances of losing the match will increase."

Perhaps, then, an emphasis on defence is order of the day for Manzano, whose side lost out 3-1 on the final day of last season in the capital.

After all, he sees Madrid as a great threat.

"They have a similar structure and a spirit of unity and overcoming that they've had in other seasons," he said.

"But we must play our own game."

Declaring the absence of Sergio Ramos and Guti as "significant", Manzano could well feel that a shock is on the cards..

Hope that we win

Marcelo: Don't Compare Me To Carlos

QUOTE
Young Brazilian Marcelo has really established himself on the left-hand side of Real Madrid's defence, that despite the summer arrivals of Gabriel Heinze and Royston Drenthe. Speaking to Real publication Grada Blanca, the left-back discussed his role in the side, his aims for the season and comparisons to Roberto Carlos

In spite of the stiff competition for places on Madrid's left flank, Marcelo Vieira has now started in seven of los Meringues' first eleven league games.

Speaking to official club publication Grada Blanca, the youngster expressed his delight at the way things are going in Madrid.  "I'm very happy with the start I've had this season," explained the Brazilian.

"We are leaders in the League and in the Champions League and I am having continuity on the team.  I knew I would have some chances to play and that I had to work hard.

"I must continue doing the same in order to keep playing well.  The more I play, the more confident I will be."

I'm No Roberto

With Real legend and fellow Brazilian Roberto Carlos opting to swap Spain for Turkey this summer, Marcelo admitted that Carlos' shoes were big ones to fill.

"Many people say I'm his successor, and I am honoured by that because he is one of the greats."  Nevertheless, the youngster is uncomfortable at being compared to any Madrid greats.  "I would like [fans] to see me as Marcelo, someone who has his own identity."

Attack, Attack!

This being Real Madrid, a full-back knows that defensive duties are only one part of what the job entails.  "We have to support the forwards in attack and look to cross the ball into the box," said Marcelo, explaining that the role isn't always a walk in the park.

"When our opponents have the ball, our job is to defend and strengthen the back line with the centre backs.  It is a very complicated and demanding position to play in - you have to be exceptionally fit," revealed the youngster, though he admitted that the team wasn't the strongest at the back.

"Every team that looks to attack all the time has to take risks in defence.  Nevertheless, we should all help to defend better."

Madrid Feels Like Home

With his increasing prominence in the Madrid side, Marcelo is feeling more and more at home in the famous Bernabeu stadium.

"It's great.  I can hear [the fans] asking me to attack when I have the ball at my feet.  It helps me to try to pull off some beautiful moves.  I'm working hard to get the crowd behind me."

That he can link up with another Brazilian, Robinho, down the flank has added further to the settling-in process.  "He knows where you are going to go once you give him the ball and he always anticipates what the opponent is going to do in order to give you a perfect pass."

Lofty Ambitions

As for the team itself, Marcelo belives they are ticking along nicely and are well placed to accomplish the dual aims of La Liga and Champions League titles.  Real are odds-on to reach the European knock-out stages, but received some criticism for their inability to win in Greece in midweek.

"We played well against Olympiacos and we had many chances on goal," Marcelo opined, "but the ball didn't go in and we failed to win.  I think it was all down to bad luck.  It's not easy and we must continue to work hard to reach what we need."

The Future's Bright

The youngster clearly has a bright future ahead of him, both for Madrid and the Seleção, and the recent awarding of the 2014 World Cup to Brazil hasn't escaped his attention.

"I'm going to work hard to play for my national team. It must be amazing to play a World Cup in your own country, with the crowd supporting you and being close to your family. It would be great to take part in it."

chuster post-match presser

"Robinho is in fantastic form"

Schuster praised Robinho's performance and Mallorca's game after the match was over.

What did you think about the game?
It was a very open match. Many goals were scored, partly because Mallorca tried hard to earn a victory from the very start, unlike other teams who just sit back in defence when they come here. Mallorca were never scared or disheartened. I think a 4-3 score is much better than winning 1-0.

What do you think about Robinho's performance?
He's been playing at a very high level in the last few games. That's what we expect him to do. We need players like Raúl, Ruud, Sneijder and him on this team; players that create dangeorus plays. Our opponents know Robinho is in fantastic form and they have a hard time trying to stop him. He is present in most of our important attacks. He is in great form and I hope he continues being this way a long time.

Did you miss Guti today too?
I like to have all my players. I don't like not being able to count on them either due to injury or because of a suspension. We have to be patient because these things happen every year. Every player will be available for us in two weeks.

Robinho has never been as regular as in the past few weeks. Why do you think this is?
I think he still has to be more regular. He is still very young and he has a lot to learn. Even being at Real Madrid, he has to improve on things as he matures. He helps both in defence and in attack. His attitude has also improved. We are here to help him improve on smal things. He should feel happy and comfortable, and think only about playing down the wings and moving on the pitch... That's his strong point and I think we are making good use of it. He still has to make more progress.

You say you can't comment on Manzano's complaints about the referee's performance...
I understand him; I complained the other day. These things happen.

Robinho & Marcelo

"We are young and we have to work hard to improve"

Robinho and Marcelo were satisfied with their performances tonight against Mallorca. They know they are both young and that they have to keep working hard in order to succeed.

Robinho
"It was an excellent game. We are in great form and I am very happy with the the victory because the three points were very important. I am also happy with my performance. I hope to continue playing this well."

"I dedicated my first goal to assistant coach Manolo Ruiz because I have a better finishing touch and I still have to improve on my headers. I work with him on it."

"We are gradually doing things better. Marcelo is very young and he still has to improve. Me too. We gradually feel better, but I think we can do much more."

"I have to keep improving and fighting to win titles with Real Madrid, the best team in the world."

Marcelo
"The game was spectacular, but we can't allow ourselves to concede so many goals. I feel great. All my teammates help me and they encourage me to attack."

"We thought winning today would be important because it would distance us from our opponents and we did it."

Pepe & Heinze

"We had a positive attitude"

Pepe and Heinze were paired as centre backs in the second half of the clash with Mallorca. They were both satisfied with the team's work.

Pepe
"I'm happy with the fact that Portugal has called me up again after so long. I'm also happy for playing with Real Madrid again. It's been great to be able to enjoy this marvelous atmosphere again after such a long time. I went through a hard time with my injury, but I luckily pulled through."

"I've been inactive for a very long time, but I've pulled through thanks to my teammates and my family. You only think about recovering when you're injured. A times it all seemed to be endless."

"We were calm throughout the encounter and we were able to turn the score around. The game was tough, but we had a positive attitude and pulled through. We must now continue working hard."

"Tonight's three points are very important because they allow us to relax a bit more during the League stoppage."

"Robinho is playing brilliantly. Thank God we can all enjoy the football he is showcasing. We dominated at crucial times tonight."

Heinze
"It's good for the other contenders to lose points, but we still have many more games to play. We are still leaders and that is what we most want. We believe in our chances and I personally believe in mine, so I never comment on the coach's decisions. I make it hard for him to decide."

I didn't watch it but i wish that i had cause from what i read it was a great game   :groupie: Lova ya guys  Ur the best

Schuster Has Helped Me So Much - Robinho

QUOTE
Robinho has credited coach Bernd Schuster with helping him produce his current run of good form and has revealed that he is unconcerned about the pressure on him to perform.

The Brazilian was inspirational in the victory over Real Mallorca at the weekend as he scored twice and set up a third goal and earned praise across the board.

Now Robinho has said that Schuster has given him more freedom and is always speaking to him and giving him advice which is helping him to improve.

“The coach understands me," he said. "He speaks candidly with me because he's been through these situations. He always gives me good advice. Schuster allows me to play with more liberties on the pitch, and that's how I can develop my football.

“I reach the last third with a lot more energy to take on defenders and dribble around them, but I also understand that I have to help out the team when it comes to defending.

“I'm not scared about carrying Real Madrid or the Brazilian national team on my shoulders. I just go out there to have fun on the pitch. We all enjoy playing and all we want to do is touch the ball with patience.”

Despite the adulation following his performance on Sunday, Robinho is not going to be carried away and puts his displays down to the fact that he is enjoying life in Spain.

“Any time I play well people say that it was my best match with Real Madrid. All I can say is that it was an absolute thrill;" he continued.

"I have to keep working hard and take it all in stride. I have a lot of confidence in my football right now. I have played three straight matches at a consistent level.

"I am happy playing for Real Madrid and living in Spain. I truly believe this is the best team for me. I feel I can develop my skills and reap all the rewards here. I would like to end my career playing for Real Madrid.”

Real Madrid maintained their position at the top of la Primera at the weekend and are doing well in Europe, but Robinho believes that patience is required.

“We have to take it slow. We're in good form, leaders of the League, and first in our Champions League group. I would love to win the Champions League," he explained.

"Every player here is excited about our chances. We're going to work hard in order to achieve great things.”

Spanish Press: Quaresma Wants Real Madrid, Not Atletico

QUOTE
Mere hours after Atletico Madrid confirmed a renewed interest in Porto winger Quaresma, Spanish sports daily Marca alleged that the 24 year old has his heart set on a move to city rivals Real Madrid...

According to Spanish sports daily Marca, Porto winger Ricardo Quaresma is indeed hopeful of a return to Spain.

However, dsepite Atletico Madrid publicly admitting that they're still interested in the former Barcelona man, it seems that he has his eye on only one club.

Marca quotes him as telling his confidants, "I want to play for Real Madrid."

These alleged words come after Atletico Madrid president Enrique Cerezo told the media of his continued desire to land the highly-rated wide midfielder, seemingly indicating that Quaresma is not willing to join the rojiblancos.

Another theory is that Atletico already knew of Quaresma's desire to move to the Bernabeu, with yesterday's statement serving as a prelude to a bidding war.

Atletico already have a host of attacking midfield talent; in numbers, perhaps they have even more than Real Madrid. As such, whether Quaresma would move to the Vicente Calderon even for better terms remains to be seen.

The highly-rated Portuguese international has arguably become Porto's finest asset since signing on from Barcelona in 2004
