Title: Terry: Grant The Right Man For The Job

Chelsea captain John Terry insists that new manager Avram Grant is the right man for the job, despite constant bombardment from the press and fans alike. It was always going to be difficult for any manager to follow in the footsteps of Jose Mourinho, even more so for an individual still relatively unknown in world football.
After a shaky start to his tenure at the club, with a defeat to Manchester United and a point against Fulham, Grant has steered Chelsea to three consecutive victories, the most impressive against Valencia in the Champions League last week.
Terry admits that the transition from having Mourinho in charge to taking orders from Grant has been made easier by the presence of assistant manager Steve Clarke and several other long-term backroom staff.
“Avram’s come in and with the likes of Clarkey (Steve Clarke) and Brendan (Rodgers) about it’s been fantastic. It’s great to have familiar faces,” he told the club’s official website.
“Clarkey knows the club inside out, and when he speaks it really goes in. It’s from the heart with Clarkey, not just for the English lads but the foreign lads as well.”
The skipper also insists that fans of the club are behind the team, and perhaps more surprisingly, behind the new manger too.
“They’re turning up and travelling all over the world for us, so they’re still behind us and behind Avram. Having spoken to them, they’ve got great feelings for Mourinho and they’ll always sing his name, but Avram is the next step and we move forward,” he continued.
“They’ll certainly love him in the future. He’s definitely the man for the future, and you can see we were always going to have that first week or two where it didn’t as well as we liked, but he’s putting his thoughts and feelings onto the training pitch and we’re developing that in the matches. He’s the right man in charge and everybody has to get behind him.”
From a personal perspective, Terry is adamant that Grant is the right man for the job.
“There’s always a lot more to come from Chelsea. He’s trying to do his bit along with Steve Clarke and the likes of Brendan Rogers in there. It’s great to have people like that around you, and it’s important for us because the lads fully respect him, are fully behind him and we’re happy with him,” he concluded. |

I must say despite losing Jose this is an exciting new era at the Bridge. With attacking minded manager and coaches and now we got 10 Cate. We will see a lot of attacking minded and stylish players come in :)

Don't you already have a lot of stylish attacking minded players? The thing is, Chelsea don't play pretty football. It's not their style. Full stop.
Roman Abramovich should have taken over Arsenal if he wanted beautiful football. As it stands, Grant is not doing a very convincing job as Jose's successor. Ten Cate won't change that much. You can't turn Chelsea into Man U or Arsenal in the blink of an eye.

:kots: oh please. of course chelsea CAN'T turn into the egoistics united or arsenal. chelsea will be chelsea. jose was a great manager but that is now in the
PAST. what's the point when everyone living in the past? and it's not going to change now. so stop jose for CFC because WE WON'T GET HIM BACK. about grant being our manager, i'm prepared to give him a go and see what happens. i will support the club whoever is manager even if that there has been some terrible ones! - farahCFC -
