the 6-0 victory over Man City certainly came out of the blue alright! :winner: omg one of the most amazing games i've ever watched, 1)goal after 2)goal after 3)goal after 4)goal after 5)goal after 6)goal... yeah that's six... i was amazed at how poor the Man City defence actually was, for a team 3rd in the BPL! one swallow doesn't make a summer and all that, but it was a nice breath of fresh air to see Chelsea running rampant for once. but i think if we play like this every week, WATCH OUT Utd we're coming to get you!

Everton aims to upset Chelsea
Everton is counting on home advantage to help overturn a 2-1 deficit against Chelsea and secure a place in the League Cup final.
Everton hosts the second leg of the semifinals on Wednesday, hoping to end a winless streak against Chelsea that dates back to November 2000. Chelsea won the first leg on an injury-time winner by Shaun Wright-Phillips on Jan. 8, but Everton striker Andy Johnson believes the London side will find it tougher at Goodison Park.
"There will be a fantastic atmosphere at Goodison," Johnson said. "Everyone knows it's a tough place to come, with 40,000 fans screaming away. It's been hard for sides here over the last few years and we can use that to our advantage."
Johnson missed out on a League Cup medal in 2001 when his former club Birmingham lost to Liverpool in the final. Johnson missed a penalty kick in the shootout and said it was his career low point. "But it's made me more determined and it made me a stronger person," he said.
Both teams are in healthy positions in the Premier League - Chelsea is third, four points behind Manchester United and Arsenal, while Everton is fourth after Liverpool's 2-2 draw with Aston Villa on Monday.
Everton's best chance of trophies this season are in the UEFA Cup and League Cup, and manager David Moyes had one eye on Wednesday's match during the 2-1 win over Wigan in the league on Sunday.
"We have not been in loads of semifinals, so maybe we are fixated by it and we know what is waiting if we can get a result," Moyes said. The two teams drew 1-1 in the Premier League at Stamford Bridge on Nov. 11.
Chelsea is also in contention for the Premier League, Champions League and FA Cup, and manager Avram Grant said defending the League Cup title isn't his top priority.
"The Carling Cup is not my main target, but it is a good competition," Grant said. "If you get into the semifinal of any competition then you want to qualify, and any game we have played in the Carling Cup we have taken seriously."
Grant doesn't plan to send out a defensive side.
"We will not change our system and our style of play will be the same we play at home," Grant said. "I believe Everton feel more comfortable to play at home, but for us it is the same.
"The atmosphere at Liverpool and Goodison Park is very good - I like it. The supporters get behind their team. It is a great atmosphere."
Both teams are missing players at the African Cup of Nations. Everton is without Aiyegbeni Yakubu, Steven Pienaar and Joseph Yobo, and Chelsea has lost Salomon Kalou, Michael Essien, Didier Drogba and John Obi Mikel. Midfielder Frank Lampard will miss the match with a thigh injury that's kept him out since Dec. 26.
"It is a little bit more complicated than we thought," Grant said. "He has torn his thigh muscle for a second time and I think it could be between days or two weeks from now."
Captain John Terry and striker Andriy Shevchenko are not in the squad, but Wright-Phillips was named despite hurting his ankle at the weekend.
"Not all the players have been 100 percent fit for the last few games, but the squad is very short," Grant said. "Everybody, including Shaun, is doing everything they can to play, but it is good news he is out there."
A shortage of attacking players could give Claudio Pizarro, who scored in Chelsea's 1-0 win over Birmingham in the league on Saturday, the chance to start.
"We have five strikers at the moment, but most of them are away or with injury so it is important for me to play and I am getting my chance," Pizzaro said. "I hope I can use it and keep playing."
Pizzaro will face competition from new signing Nicolas Anelka up front.
Chelsea beat Arsenal 2-1 to win the League Cup last season, and a repeat would be the first title for Grant. The other semifinal is between Arsenal and Tottenham, with the first leg ending in a 1-1 draw. |

LONG LIVE THE REAL PRIDE OF LONDON! MUAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA  :warrior: :duelo: :clapp:  :maldini:
farakaka - February 24, 2008 06:22 PM (GMT)
spuds 2 - 1 chelsea
scorers: drogba, berbatov (penalty), woodgate (extra time)
fuck. we lost. :loser: :loser: :loser: :ink: :hit: uncle grant does not know what he is doing, his idiotic choice in playing anelka the entire game. he played an awful game which is still giving me chronic diarrheahe! stupid manager should not had tested anelka and drogba partnership at the freaking final. and why the heck he kept my ballack and joey (no execuses but ballack and joey almost made it to the Victory again :gloomy: ) on the bench when they should of started and the team paid the price. as for the penalty it did not look good to me. as for drogba, he works because he is the prototype power striker/target man. now, what will that russian do now? he made a big mistake once before and personally i hold him responsible for chelsea's loss. don't get me wrong he has done alot for the club financially and for that i am grateful, but when it comes to the beautiful game like uncle grant, he does not know what he is doing. i hope that he will try to make ammends for this but knowing that russian, i dont think so. WHERE IS JOSE? :cry3: :cry3: :cry3:
as much as it pains me to say this, the SPUDS deserved to win this. congrats :gloomy:
still lots of run to made. still lots of win to design. Go Chelsea.. :)
