Title: Primer 55
Serpent_Boy - July 21, 2006 01:56 AM (GMT)
Hey have u guys heard of a band called Primer 55. Their pretty good.
(Censored) - July 21, 2006 08:41 PM (GMT)
I dig primer 55.
Set it off is a good song. Jahred is in it.
SRD420 - July 23, 2006 02:39 AM (GMT)
Yeah, Primer 55 is the shit. They arent together anymore though are they? I haven't heard anything about them in a long time.
Serpent_Boy - July 23, 2006 04:43 AM (GMT)
Yeah they split up a few years ago. I just bought Introduction to Mayhem on Ebay :) !!!!
TheRev - July 25, 2006 12:37 AM (GMT)
Yeah Primer 55 is the shit. Intro To Mayhem is killer. Track 3 "Supa Freak Love" is just too great. Track 9 and 13 are also great tracks. I know track 9 is the one with Jahred. Can't remember the name to track 13.
Shakezulah - July 25, 2006 04:43 AM (GMT)
I thought The New Release was a much better album than ITM. It has a very original sound to it that their first album just didn't pull off. ITM was very repetitive in it's song structure for nearly every song. It got old after awhile I still like it - Loose, Supa Freak Love, and a few others kick ass - but I'd have to say that TNR is easily the superior. Besides, Ricochet is one of the coolest fucking songs ever. headbanger

I have AWESOME news. Primer 55 have reformed and have already started writing a new album. This article was taken from Blabbermouth.net:
According to a posting by SOULFLY bassist/ex-PRIMER 55 guitarist Bobby Burns on the PRIMER 55 MySpace page, PRIMER 55 has reformed and has begun writing material for a new album, tentatively due next year. "Jason Luttrell [vocals] and I are working on some new tunes we plan to start recording sessions by the end of the year!" Burns writes. "Every PRIMER 55 fan that's been with us from day one knows that every time we work together it's different and this new shit will be another step in a new direction for us both... Jason and I have tried to work together off and on for the past few years but addictions and inner turmoil stopped all attemps cold. But now for the first time in a long time shit seems fresh again. It's been years and you guys and gals are still here so you deserve it!!!! We love you all and we thank you for being here for us and with us through all of the bullshit!!! SO, now we just sit and wait to see what comes next!!!!!!"
PRIMER 55 released three albums before splitting up more in 2003: 1999's "As Seen On TV" (Fat Static), 2000's "Introduction to Mayhem" (Island), and 2001's "The New Release" (Island).
(Thanks: Dan Holmi)

Fuckin' Awesome! Great news, thnx.
Shakezulah - November 28, 2007 08:07 AM (GMT)
Well, apparently Jason Lutrell has left the band. They already have a new vocalist by the name of Heath Joyce from the band IGM. I'm not familiar with their work, so I don't know what to think. But the official statement from the rest of P55 has been made in their new blog on MySpace:

Drugs. What a fucked up world that is, it's a sad place and it's such a hard place to leave. About a week ago Jason left us high and dry while in route to our show in Flint Mi. In return it came down to him leaving the band and yes, it is for good and forever. Josh Toomey and I will never step foot on stage with him ever again. He fucked us over and he fucked you guys over for the last time. It's been great for Toomey and I to be back out playing the tunes for you all and we've had a blast doing it and it's sparked something inside of us and we plan to continue on for the love of the music and our fans. I know, I know, alot of people are gonna be like "it wont be the same without him" and you're totally right it wont be IT'S GONNA BE BETTER! One of my bros from back in my days in Memphis is has stepped in (to fill some big shoes mind you) and it's fuckin great! His name is Heath Joyce and he also plays in the Memphis band IGM. We're happy and it's gonna be nice to be able to go onstage and not have to worry about weather or not your singer is going to fall off the stage 12 times during the set or mumble his way through the lyrics or even fucking sing at all for that matter. Like I said, this tour has been a blast even though we've had to deal with alot of drama from him the whole time and it's only going to get better. It's a closed chapter in our book and we dont plan on opening it back up. We have the CD/DVD Family for life that just came out to help us close the chapter as well and now it's time to move on to a new page for Primer55 and the family.
We hope you understand but this is the reason that it's taken 5 years for us to do anything together and we dont plan on goin away for 5 more.
We'll see ya on tour!!!!
Bobby and Toomey

I always heard Jason was a real sack of shit, and this pretty much sets it in stone. Nice of him to get his band back together after 5 years and then fuck up when they've barely re-started. I may have liked him as a vocalist, but I honestly think they will be better off without him. Hopefully now the band can actually get things done.
Fatkid - November 28, 2007 02:43 PM (GMT)
Jason was the reason Primer 55 disbanded the first time.
Unisonband - November 28, 2007 08:15 PM (GMT)
That sucks; I was really happy to hear about them reuniting; I just hope that the new vocalist can bring them in the right direction. The New Release is an amazing record, right down to the instruments and lyrics. These guys have potential to make great music, hopefully it works out.
Shakezulah - November 28, 2007 08:32 PM (GMT)
I just hope this doesn't hinder the progress of their next album. And I hope it still comes out good. I'm looking forward to the Family for Life DVD/CD too.
Unisonband - November 28, 2007 09:37 PM (GMT)
All of the CD tracks are tracks I've already heard before.
Track listing:
1) Site to Side
2) Disconnected
3) Never Did Never Will
4) Bullshit
5) Drive It
6) Release
7) Texas (Acoustic)
8) My Girl (Acoustic)
9) This Life (Acoustic)
All of these tracks are from compilations, bootlegs, etc. and have been available already; still I'm looking forward to the DVD.
Fatkid - November 28, 2007 10:34 PM (GMT)
Well I remember when they announced they are getting back together Bobby was saying he was skeptical of working Jay due to past issues,
Original Hip-Hop Witch Doctor - November 28, 2007 10:59 PM (GMT)
jasons a fag
idc aslong as they fuckin blow my speakers out
as for that cd/dvd sounds like a kool package thats gunna be available, those acoustic songs will be interesting as well
Unisonband - November 29, 2007 08:45 AM (GMT)
I think they should have put a few more tracks on the CD. For instance they could of added:
10) Appetite For Destruction (NWA Cover)
11) G'S (As Seen On TV) This version is way heavier then off of ITM
12) Violence (As Seen On TV Version)
13) Against The Wall
14) Supa Freak Love (As Seen On TV Version) Sounds different then off of ITM
15) Slip Away
16) Tripin' The Head (As Seen On TV Version) More raw and heavy
Original Hip-Hop Witch Doctor - January 3, 2008 05:25 PM (GMT)
Hey.....these guys r amazing but i was wondering every1's opinion on Family For Life....IMO this was the worse out of the ITM and The New Release, i did actually enjoy the Texas Acoustic
So you think they went in the right direction with this CD?
Shakezulah - January 3, 2008 08:51 PM (GMT)
What direction? They threw together some old b-sides and accoustic shit along with some live footage on a DVD...it's not a real album.

They are on tour now, Bobby said they will start writing and recording new material soon!
Unisonband - January 3, 2008 10:14 PM (GMT)
Can't wait for some new Primer
Shakezulah - January 3, 2008 11:30 PM (GMT)
I'm pretty sure a majority of their material, since they stated almost 2 years ago that they have begun writing. I'd probably expect a mid-summer release for their next album.
Chizase 2012 - January 10, 2008 03:21 AM (GMT)
the new singer sucks though, i just found this video from last month of them performing loose

Shakezulah - January 10, 2008 05:16 AM (GMT)
Eh...he wasn't terrible, but he's no Jason, that's for sure. The quality wasn't that great either. Didn't seem like there were that many people there at that show...
Well hopefully this guy sounds better on actual recorded material.

That's what I was thinking. The quality was terrible all around...he will probably sound better on the record.
Original Hip-Hop Witch Doctor - January 10, 2008 03:17 PM (GMT)
ouchh that was bad....it sounds like a high school garage band covering Loose....ouchh

If I had to guess, I would say getting high off his mind on at least 10 different drugs.
SerpentBoy - January 14, 2008 10:20 PM (GMT)
I remember when listen to primer 55 playing the dave Mirra Game, "loose" got a solid hook and a good rhytm, before I look for his debut album but not find that cd on my town, my friend pass me "Introduction of mayhem",damn that albun really rocks. I like "Supa freak love","Pigs","Set It Off(The Jahred Rap's So Weak As fuck)","loose","dose","hate" and "Tripinthehead" the best of that album.
The New Release sucks like the paris hilton's porno movie.
only save "This Life" and "Hesitation".
is good hear new stuff of this guys.
i had some rarities of primer, like "bullshit","Slip Away","Drive It","No Sleep" and other shits.
never heard the tv version of Tripin the head,g's...
Shakezulah - January 14, 2008 10:38 PM (GMT)
The New Release kicks the shit out of ITM....easily. ITM is only decent, but it's so generic and formulaic that it gets old very fast. TNR was a very original album that fused several different styles that ended up working very well for the most part, and it remained pretty heavy for the majority of it. I can only hope that they evolve farther on the next record.

I agree, I absolutely love TNR; I went down to San Diego to sell some of my old CD's (I used to do that a lot) and I found that album in the bargain bin for a few bucks. Since I was selling so many CD's to them they gave me it for free!
I hope their material in the future is a nice combo of everything they have done so far, with some new elements added in there...I also hope the new singer doesn't suck!
Original Hip-Hop Witch Doctor - January 15, 2008 09:04 PM (GMT)
what???!!!!!
i thought ITM was ther best CD by far!!
the energy of a great hardcore band is in every song and the vox is like no kind when doin the screams\yells
and plus the song titles r genius as well with titles like, Loose, Set It Off, Supafreak Love, etc., who wouldnt like hearing those titles screamed out wit hardcore riffs in the background?!?
Fatkid - January 15, 2008 09:35 PM (GMT)
i really do not like that guy they have singing for them know, he just does not fit the band well. Bobby should just call it a day and stick with Soulfly.
Chizase 2012 - March 16, 2008 05:05 PM (GMT)
they have a new voaclist, i didnt even know about it until i saw it on their myspace page. his name is Donny Polinske.
heres a pic of him

i hope this guy sounds better than heath joyce.
Shakezulah - March 17, 2008 01:00 AM (GMT)
They got ANOTHER new vocalist? That was fast. I guess the rest of the band thought that the other dude sucked, as well.
Unisonband - March 17, 2008 07:32 AM (GMT)
Haha! Thank God...I was scared for Primer 55
El GRinGo LoCo - March 17, 2008 01:00 PM (GMT)
well, I can't imagine that DRP is the new vocalist of primer 55 cause he is already in a band called S.O.R.E. and they were supposed to release a new album this year
(mat)pe - July 29, 2008 08:44 PM (GMT)
Primer 55 one of my favorite bands Introduction to Mayhem is fuckin awesome, The New release is okay. Can't wait to hear some new music.
