DazeOfWarKid - June 23, 2008 05:47 PM (GMT)
i like some of his stuff
i think it's quite decent
better than anything rap can throw up at the moment
then again 90s gangsta rap was actually good

Born_2_Ride - June 23, 2008 09:34 PM (GMT)
great rapper

gingersonny - June 23, 2008 10:09 PM (GMT)
Yeah he was pretty good, no doubt, wasnt no genius or nothin tho

iblackout76 - June 24, 2008 05:07 PM (GMT)
no genius but one hell of a good rapper and yeah i agree his stuff is better than rap now adays

SHaGGGz - June 25, 2008 06:11 AM (GMT)
im gonna have to respectfully disagree. although i havent heard much of his stuff, from the little i have heard, most of it has simplistic rhyme structure and just doesnt appeal to me. but then again i got into more recent rap first (2000 and on) and then checked out the old school stuff out of curiosity. i strongly disagree with the notion that rap back then was better. it wasnt. maybe it gets points for being nostalgic and paving the way for todays acts, but the rhyme structure is just too damn SIMPLE for my ears. im more used to rappers with more complex rhyme structure and subject matter like immortal technique, sweatshop union, eminem (his old shit), necro, ill bill, etc.

oh and the first time i heard straight outta compton, i actually laughed out loud the very second his verse started. this skinny little nigga jumps out of nowhere like a kid on a playground and his voice is so high and funny sounding. very unlikely characteristics of a gangster rapper. heh, makes me chuckle just recalling it.

Born_2_Ride - June 25, 2008 09:21 AM (GMT)
sometimes simplicity is best i mean thats how music evovles like bricks it stacks and the rap back then was nothing like the rap nowdays and i have respect 4 it all i mean u can say that u dont like it but the rappers today wouldnt be what they are without these artists

gingersonny - June 25, 2008 11:31 AM (GMT)
Cant be saying old skool hip hop and rap was simplistic bro, go check out public enemy dude, thats the good shit

tray_cee - June 25, 2008 12:46 PM (GMT)
whoa shagggz, gotta say I disagree with you completely! alot of old skool is better then that shit we have now, even rappers now a days are tryna go back and somewhat patternt themselves or make themselves like old school rap artists. like The Game, he is always talking about being the "new NWA" with Dre.

Unless your referring to underground hip hop, old school is better then todays. For the most part the only really hip hop out now is underground. Cause now we got whack people like SOulJah Boy & 50 Cent takin over the radio.

Born_2_Ride - June 25, 2008 01:36 PM (GMT)
haha yea all this silly mofo's iam sick of hearing songs 4 the club bout dancing and what not thats the trend and the tpain sound everyone wants to do that nowa days like snoop dogg tried it lil wayne did it nobdy in mainstream rap thinks 4 themselves they follow trends all in it 4 the sales and the cars and money not about the music anymore

id say the most real in the mainstream right now

3-6 and ugk (rip pimp c)
ludacris still love him and his style

they have paid there dues and are keeping it real as far as iam concerned

iblackout76 - June 25, 2008 03:52 PM (GMT)
haha yeah i know right solja boy i just want to shoot his ass im so sick of that damn song

Born_2_Ride - June 29, 2008 03:08 AM (GMT)

i completely agree, mainstream rap is a disgrace and shouldnt even be called part of the hip hop culture. but that kinda goes without saying. i was, of course, not referring to them when i said that todays rap is better. there are only a few rappers (most of them underground) i listen to, and i mentioned most of them.
i know perfectly well that im mostly ignorant on the topic of old school rap. i didnt listen to it growing up and only went back to listen to some just out of curiosity. all im saying is that from the albums ive listened to, the style is very noticeably simpler. of course, this isnt to say that this makes them "inferior" rappers, because you have to judge them within the appropriate historical context, and that was simply the style back then.

tray_cee - July 1, 2008 02:10 AM (GMT)
haha I hear ya on that man, when I think of the word rap I think of commercial radio shit, and then when I hear the word hip hop I think of the underground, the real shit.

but I dont think historical content and time period should be used to judge music, hip hop is about the attitude and way of life. if that was the case then what would you say about old rock like ac/dc and pink floyd n shit? same thing

iblackout76 - July 1, 2008 10:56 PM (GMT)
well guys i love eazy e hes awsome and no matter how simple it is i still loe his music headbanger

i dont really care about the "way of life" aspect to it. i dont live the hip hop lifestyle at ALL, i just like some of the music.
as for pink floyd and ac/dc i dont like them either :P. but im not saying theyre not GOOD, just that they dont appeal to me personally.
