SYSTEM OF A DOWN Guitarist's SCARS ON BROADWAY Confirmed For COACHELLA

SYSTEM OF A DOWN guitarist Daron Malakian's new band with SYSTEM drummer John Dolmayan, called SCARS ON BROADWAY, has been confirmed for this year's Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival, set to take place April 25-27 in Indio, California.

For more information, visit www.coachella.com.

Malakian has told Revolver magazine that SCARS ON BROADWAY is his first priority right now and he doesn't see a return to SYSTEM any time soon. Malakian explained, "SYSTEM is not my band right now. I'll go back and do that someday. I'd expect a second SCARS album before I'd expect another SYSTEM album." That could mean a long wait for SYSTEM fans, since SCARS ON BROADWAY has yet to finish recording its debut album or set a release date. The last SYSTEM CD, "Hypnotize", came out in late 2005.

SYSTEM drummer John Dolmayan, who also plays in SCARS ON BROADWAY, told The Pulse of Radio he understands fans being concerned over SYSTEM's future. "The SYSTEM issue is gonna come up forever," he said. "It's unavoidable because people really like the band and they want to see the band working, making albums and touring. The only thing I would ask of our fans is just be a little bit patient. We are in a phase of our lives where we need to do something different so that we can come back to SYSTEM renewed and refreshed. That's not gonna take 15 years. We don't know exactly how many years it'll take. When we're ready, we'll get back into it."

SCARS ON BROADWAY has yet to determine which record label will release their debut album.

SYSTEM vocalist Serj Tankian released his debut solo effort, "Elect the Dead", last October through Reprise Records.

SYSTEM OF A DOWN bassist Shavo Odadjian recently launched a music-based social networking site called urSession and is working on his own side project with WU-TANG CLAN member The RZA.

finally heard THEY SAY
i think its pretty good
not anything particularly special
but good

SmokeDogg - June 3, 2008 07:27 PM (GMT)
I've only heard about 6 songs from the album and only like 2(kind of) from what I've heard it's kind of poppy rock. Not what I was expecting from Daron and co.

SHaGGGz - June 18, 2008 06:22 AM (GMT)
i havent heard the rest of the album, but i found They Say to be very bland. the same monotonous couple of chords over and over again was nauseating. the only redeeming quality about the song was that distortion noise during the chorus. hopefully the rest of the album is less... boring. as a long-time listener of soad, ive come to expect a degree of eccentricity and originality from them.

Broke2012 - June 18, 2008 05:29 PM (GMT)
what i heard sucks... maybe other trax are any good

Fatkid - June 20, 2008 01:59 AM (GMT)
Well Casey (Amen) was the original singer, once he departed it sounds like the band went in a diffrent direction. Regardless of how it sounds people are going to follow it because it's Jon and Darron from SOAD. But like Darron says do not hold your breathe for a SOAD reunion, their is a huge power struggle between Serj and Darron, both of them want to be the leader of the band. Darron is a real asshole if you ever watch any of his interviews he is very egotistical. I prefer SOAD up until Toxicity after that, that's when all the bullshit started and it rolled over into Hypnotize and Mezmerize, yes those albums sold well but that was a copout from SOAD we all know they are capable of making better material. Plus whent hey did Ozzfest that year they where fighting on stage during shows, taking seperate buses to gigs. Honestly I hope they do not get back together if they do it's for money.

gingersonny - June 20, 2008 10:41 AM (GMT)
SOAD are still like one of my favourite bands ever but I agree with the comments about Daron, talk about ego...im not a fan of his solo stuff, Serj's pisses all over it

Fatkid - June 20, 2008 01:12 PM (GMT)
No doubt Serj came out the winner, Serj stayed more true to the heavier side of things. All though I have heard some of the stuff Shavo did with Rza it is really not that bad but the way people are today they would know good music if it came up and face fucked them. If Scars stayed with Casey on vocals you would not be hearing that They Say shit

gingersonny - June 20, 2008 01:45 PM (GMT)
Innit man casey is a fuckin legend no doubt he'd have kept it proper punk metal, not this pop punk faggot shit

Lately, there have been songs leaked onto YouTube labeled as "Scars on Broadway demos" the band wants to make it clear that this music is from a disbanded project from four years ago, and is in no way affiliated with the current Scars on Broadway project. Any music that will be leaked or released from Scars, will be done so directly to their fans through the band's official website, scarsonbroadway.com

SHaGGGz - July 13, 2008 06:32 PM (GMT)

i agree this track is bomb. i like it better than "they say". this mite b the first band i see in london, after i moved up there ;) yay.

MadMadMan565 - July 14, 2008 05:40 AM (GMT)
i barely liked they say

i like this one even less

not sure why
but im not really caring for them

Original Hip-Hop Witch Doctor - July 16, 2008 10:27 PM (GMT)
thers no energy in these songs, his voice stays the same, he needs to change it up
idk, thats just me

SHaGGGz - July 18, 2008 06:34 PM (GMT)
he does a bit in chemicals

SHaGGGz - July 19, 2008 11:08 PM (GMT)
ok the album leaked and is quite bland and disappointing. chemicals is still the best track, with only a couple somewhat standout tracks. i can safely conclude that daron is a douche and serj is the creative force behind soad.

Atomic - July 20, 2008 06:28 AM (GMT)
Exactly!

this album was quite a letdown

Broke2012 - July 20, 2008 10:17 AM (GMT)
i don't like their singer... i guess this is my biggest let down from '08

MadMadMan565 - July 21, 2008 06:01 AM (GMT)
lamelamelamelame

guess we all know who was the creative force in SoaD

mr.sinester - July 21, 2008 08:06 AM (GMT)
Very very boring album. The artwork sucked and the music sucked and I hate Daron in the first place. So why did I listen to this in the first place?

SHaGGGz - July 23, 2008 05:22 PM (GMT)
they broke up because of him, right?
