Title: Nine Inch Nails
SHaGGGz - April 14, 2007 10:34 AM (GMT)
well, its finally out, and its fucking amazing. easily the long-awaited equal of The Downward Spiral. its just that good.
but the real fans of nin will know that its not just an album, its a concept album. but its not just a concept album, its a whole Alternate Reality Game (ARG)! this means that theres a whole alternate universe / storyline set in the futuristic dystopic universe described in the album (that weird hand thing you see on the album cover isnt some random picture, theres actually a backstory to it). many websites set in this universe have been discovered, but theres still others waiting to be found. check out ninwiki.com for more info.
for those of you that have heard it, any thoughts/comments? fave tracks?
at first, mine was My Violent Heart, but now so many of the other tracks are growing on me, its becoming harder and harder to settle on any particular one track as favorite.
Everything&Nothing - April 23, 2007 02:39 AM (GMT)
For that lack of better words, this album is fucking awesome! When I first put this CD in my stereo in my truck, when i heard the fucking beat to "the beginning of the end" I 'bout orgasmed! lol.
I have so many favorites but my most favorite is God Given. I love it's groove and sarcasm. also "the Great Destroyer" and "zero-sum" are also awesome.
NIN is my new all-time favorite band.
Waiting-To-Die - April 23, 2007 06:41 AM (GMT)
i m really disappointed with it to be honest. :(
the story thing is a nice idea..but i dont know... not my thing. but then again NIN never was one of my fav bands really
sixteenvolt420 - April 23, 2007 10:00 AM (GMT)
i agree with it being the long awaited sequal to t.d.s. the heat sensitive disc is pretty damn cool as well. i love evey song on the cd, but my 3 most favorite are The Great Destroyer, God Given, and Vessel.

http://ghosts.nin.com/Go for it! Check this out! All new Nine Inch Nails full-length album titled "Ghosts" was released today without any previous hints about it being released!
This reminds a lot like when Radiohead released "In Rainbows" with their "pick your price" deal. I am downloading now! headbanger

Not a big NIN fan but good for Trent basically releasing this album telling his label and mainly all labels to fuck off. This is how things need to be done, no labels involved just artitsts releasing the music they want to put out.

Yeah definitely. I mean two artists have already started this independent release thing and more and more artists will jump on the band wagon sooner or later.
I am really impressed with the instrumentals. I am gonna buy the two disc digipak set when it comes out in April for sure.
Waiting-To-Die - March 4, 2008 07:15 PM (GMT)
finallly pure instrumental stuff. love it. very nice to work to.
SHaGGGz - March 8, 2008 02:09 AM (GMT)
i would prefer stuff with lyrics but nevertheless this still should be quite good. thanks for the heads up.
YearZero - April 3, 2008 02:11 PM (GMT)
NIN is the most important band for me and means a lot to me. They haven't done yet any bad album, but this new album is my least favorite. I'm missing vocals but Trent's instrumentals sound awesome too. I can't wait to get the cd. Then I can listen to it by heaphones before/while sleeping. :)

Yeah man I can't wait till it comes out on Tuesday. I am gonna pick it up after school then listen to it in my cans. Since Trent didn't care if you bought or stole the album, I downloaded the free Ghost with the PDF booklet and listened to it at least 10 times. It's really good. Even though I was tempted to download the other tree Ghosts, I just wanted to wait the physical release came out to hear it.
DazeOfWarKid - April 9, 2008 10:21 PM (GMT)
this band fuckin rules
i've got (nearly) all their albums, bar with teeth
and i've not got y34rz3r0r3m1x3d or ghosts yet
but i used to be so into NIN
things have changed so quick

Trent Reznor recently released this out as a free download for the public. Since no label would even consider releasing such graphic content to the public, Trent uploaded it for all the fans to download. So technically we are downloading copyrighted material. It is in amazing quality so any NIN fans on this board should d/l this sucker fast.
Here is the "unofficial" DVD artwork.

NINE INCH NAILS: BROKEN Original "release": 1993
Unofficial DVD Release [halo 5 dvd]
In 1992, Nine Inch Nails released the "Broken" EP. It was followed in 1993 by a short film, roughly 20 minutes in length, known as the "Broken Movie." Filmed and directed by Peter Christopherson, the movie wove Broken's four music videos together via a violent "snuff film," and included its own video for the song "Gave Up" as its conclusion. Due to its extreme graphic content, the Broken Movie was never officially released (and likely never will be), but was leaked as a bootleg which became heavily traded on VHS in the 1990's, and in recent years via the internet.
This release contains the Broken Movie, in its uncensored entirety, in DVD format with the highest video quality that will likely ever be available. Enjoy, and happy new year's.
More about the Broken Movie: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Broken_%28film%29
Track listing:
intro pinion wish help me i am in hell happiness in slavery gave up
WARNING: THIS FILM CONTAINS EXTREMELY GRAPHIC CONTENT!
This disc is distributed as a .img disc image file (essentially the same thing as an iso file). It can be opened from your computer and played back like a physical DVD. It can also be burned as a DVD with programs like Toast (Mac) or Nero (PC). |

No I am sure there are others. I thought Ghosts was better like WTD said, but it was free. At first I thought it was really awesome but some tracks got old fast like Echplex and Corona Radiata. Still a good album though. I would give a 4/5.
DazeOfWarKid - May 21, 2008 09:03 PM (GMT)
the 3 instrumental tracks seem pointless and are basically filler imo
but the rest of the album i love lol
its great album tbh
just a shame that 3 tracks are seemingly filler material

i agree that it was "ok." but with nin, ive come to expect more from them. if its not GOOD and merely OKAY then i get disappointed with it. in my opinion this was their weakest album to date, even though it was ok. and yes, the instrumentals were boring and crap. one instrumental track after the other? i found that a very weird track ordering choice, it added to my dislike.

with teeth was the album that Trent needed to do at the time, heck, after alienating a heel of a lot of fans with "things falling apart" (yes i know it's a remix album but it's not his best one now, is it? well according to most it isn't, personally, i love it but i don't quite think it's what the fans wanted...)
and the fragile isn't that good either, especially after tds but i'd say that my least favourite is phm, i understand that it was the debut album and it was pretty early in his career but it wasn't as good as anything else that he did later and i do think they are decent at the most, for a debut album it is decent, and i guess thats where you need to start but it's got the odd poor song (thats what i get, ringfinger, maybe, i want to)
and i think that with teeth is good imo, better than the slip and i thnk he needed only 1 instrumental in the slip (the four of us are dead)
and it surely needed to have 2 more songs that are similar to 1 million as i think that's a tune
i think the intro, 999, 999 (or whatever its called again), could've been improved slightly as it was pretty dull
anyway, rant over

not that its my opinion or anything but i read a review in rocksound and they said that after the terrible album "ghosts" quote: "boring, repetetive and pretentious" NIN now hav a good album out again.

nah nah sure! but it just felt to me like the zine didnt like the self released stuff just for that reason (probably sayin that because labels dont make money of it) ... thats just what i think, cud be behind it.
