It all depends how do you explain it...if it's couse of the lyrics, every song that has a word or it's based on: hate, love or any other feeling or let's use the word EMOtion (afterall this is where the word EMO comes from), every song it's emo!
Beetles are emo, Mayhem are emo, Mozart is emo....

I was readin on wikipedia that there was a genre in hardcore that was called emo, but that was in 80's...what it means that there is no music like that and all the music on MTV and all the bands that people are naming it emo music is actualy a genre of hard rock, or should we say nu wave...
bands like Bullet For MY Valentine, MCR, Emanuel...ye they have the singin part in the middle of screaming...but so does Slipknot and nobady is callin them emo....
also the screaming and growling?? that is emo? wtf is black metal then : hardcore emo? brootal emo?? c'mon...labels sux...

about the clothing? that's the fashion mtv started as most of other fashions...it's popular and that's why youth loves it, that's why the guys are wearin like that, to get the girls and vice versa....

Emo was once a wonderful form of music, even if it's fans where very pretentious.

Scene kids/screamo fans are absolute idiots who dont even listen to music, they simply buy into a fashion/scene.

They effectivly ruined music for every unsigned band who didnt buy into image based stupidity.

That said, as far as i'm concerned metal heads are about as bad they just smell worse and have more blast beats.

Oke, I see how u relate to the whole glam rock scene and i agree there are certainly references to that, but glam rock was just kinda fun n everyone knew it. in my opinion emo is just so shittttt because it was forced to be mainstream and bands were just mass produced and they all DRESS,SING AND FUCK the same way. its just total monotony in the music world at the moment and the kids n teenagers hav their hed full with all this bullshit lyrics and fashioncore shit.

its also a lot about 'the scene'. its all about being hip and 'in'. if u r not emo these times, YE JUST LIKE IN THE FUCKIN 80s u r not part of the cool people. this fuckin attidude just does my hed in - i hate people that just follow trends and r too retarded to think for themselves - THATS what it comes down for me personally.

i ve seen friends chaning into this stereotypical image which just makes me go mental. its like they listen to this music n dress that way even thou they dont really want to.
