I have no idea where to put this, but this is a standpoint of mine.

why do we all insist on saying one pairing is canon?

Cleris to me, is not canon. It is a very beautiful sweet pairing, that symbolizes much to me, love beyond death. But I know, from AC, Maiden, CoT, CoD, everything. Everything just says it to me.

Cloud loved Tifa.

But you know what? That deosnt mean I'm going to decide "haha cleris sucks!" I LIKE Cleris, I think it's beautiful. But I like Cloti as well, and I debate on the cloti side because Cloti in my view, is canon. Cloti from all evidence appears canon to me, but even if it wasnt I'd still love it!

I'm going to wear Cloti banners, Cleris banners, say i like Cleris and Cloti, that deosnt mean I'm a hypocrite, it means to me that, I liek both, but i believe in cloti as the truth because of events that shape it that way.

think....if Nomura said Cloti was canon would all you cleris hate Cloudxaeris?

^^ I've been meaning to say this all my life. I question the world on this. :no: Heck yes, I would always love Cleris, even though if one day Nomura makes Cloti the official pairing. You're not alone Lady Yazoo, I also have the same feelings you have. :wink: I've been having these same feelings too. Even though I strongly disagree that Cloti is the only canon pairing, I do agree that it's quite cute. ^_^ I'm only on the Cleris side because I think it's the true pairing, and also that it's one of my beloveds of OMG TEH KAWAII. XD But I don't know wth people just hate eachother like we're on WWIII just because we're debating on who a pixelled person loves. Just between 3 RPG characters for cripe's sake, nothing like international terrorist attack or something. >_<;;;

But that's your opinion. Everything in AC, FFVII, MotP, and CoT say to Cleris people like me that Cloud definitely loved Aerith, not Tifa. That's our opinion, just like it's your opinion that Cloti is canon.

That's fine. Other people here like both pairings, too, like Fury Brand, True Serenity, and Rikkulicious. That's why we have a Neutral group - for people who like both pairings.

I think the only reason "which group is canon" gets brought up is because people see the "truth" of FFVII, AC, CoT, and MotP differently. Many think the "truth" is Cloti, whereas many others think the "truth" is Cleris. If we believe that the "truth" points toward one couple, then we are naturally going to think of that couple as the "canon" couple.

Does that mean we wouldn't love the couple if they weren't canon? No. There's many people who like non-canon couples such as ZackxCloud, YuffiexCloud, and SephirothxCloud. There's also many people who don't like certain canon couples from other games, like RinoaxSquall. The love or hate of those couples has nothing to do with whether or not they are canon, so why would it influence whether someone likes Cleris vs. Cloti? :unsure:

It's hard to give one single reason why people get offended because it's different for each person. Some people get upset when someone like Yazoo gets called gay, and other people could care less. Some people get upset when people post porn, and other people don't. Some people get upset when their favorite character gets flamed, and other people could care less. Some debaters get insulted when their ideas get called "stoopid" or "delusional", and other debaters laugh it off. Some Cloti's get upset when they hear a Cleris person say something like the Night Under the Highwind scene wasn't romantic, and some Cleris people get upset when they hear Cloti's say something like Cloud didn't cry at Aerith's death. Different things offend different people.

Because of that, isn't it best to keep all anger, insults, and harassment in the Venting forums where there's no possibility of anyone getting offended? Personally, I'd rather see people get along than see anyone get offended. Debates don't have to be flame wars. ;)

I don't think "preferences" is an issue at all. I think most who debate understand people prefer different things/pairings/etc. Likwise, I would still love Cleris to death even if Cloud had gotten with Tifa at the end of AC. I debate because my opinion is that Cleris is canon: Tifa loves Cloud who happens to love Aerith. Cloud didn't "get with" anyone, but he loves Aerith who loves him...so yes, that would make them canon.

Usually, people end up insulting each other rather than discussing the events of the game itself. :ermm:

I totally agree with you Lady Yazoo. I know some really amazing and friendly Clerises and CloTis. It's a matter of preference, if SE said that Cleris was canon I would be major disappointed but I wouldn't love CloTi any less. It's sort of the way you see it. And they way I see it is that CloTi was the intended couple.

um no i wouldnt hate them ^_^ but id be mad at Nomura :angry: and id also get a weird sickness in my gut also :puke:
