Description: Suigintou's Friend has an MP3 rotation!

Suigintou's Friend - February 26, 2007 10:15 AM (GMT)
Click the /songs/ link in my sig to access the directory.

Basically, there's no set rotation time, but whenever I have some new songs I want to share, I'll post info on them in this thread. If you like what you hear or have requests, let me know in this thread.

For now, this is what's in the /songs/ folder:

Angel'in Heavy Syrup - I Got You Babe
Yes, it's a cover. Oh wow. This group is basically a retro-style jam band comprised of four women from Osaka, but this is quite a bit more of an accessible introduction.

Aural Vampire - Freeeze!!
Japanese dance-pop that doesn't sound like anime music. More like Daft Punk with female vocals.

Base Ball Bear - Black Sea
A funky and fun rock band. Creative instrumentation and riffs. Good stuff.

Chatmonchy - Tokyo Hachimitsu Orchestra
A female-fronted indie pop-rock band. Catchy, and the bass line in this song sounds vaguely 80's.

Chirinuruwowaka - Kasugai
After GO!GO!7188 broke up a few years back, the singer started this band. Similar style, but more straight up rock.

Dog Fashion Disco - The Sacrifice of Miss Rose Covington
DFD has been around for years creating some of the most demented heavy metal around. This song is in seductive color.

MPT - Track 4
This is a hardcore techno remix of Leva's Polka. I don't really need to explain any further.

Priestess - Time Will Cut You Down
A Canadian retro-hard-rock band (think Wolfmother). Pretty cool song.

Quaff - Kurabe
Really unique song. It sounds like Japanese samurai/battle music mixed with rock. Awesome.

Super Junky Monkey - Blah, Blah, Blah
It's always awesome when a Japanese girl raps. Always. Especially when it reminds you of Rage Against the Machine or Cypress Hill.

The Aprils - Twinkle of the Stars, Little Stars, Shining Stars
This group gets some help from YMCK here to create a Nintendo dance-pop song.

The Elephant Kashimashi - Last Game
Good ol' rock 'n' roll song with a cool, meandering vocal line.

Thee Michelle Gun Elephant - Russian Huskey
Some old TMGE ('97) sounding a little bit like old-school punk. From the album with one of the awesomest names ever: Chicken Zombies.

Tsushimamire - Ocha Ska
Mix GO!GO!7188, a sugar-rush female vocalist, and pure freaking awesome, and you have Tsushimamire. They toured with the Suicide Girls burlesque show. Milk tea! Lemon tea! Herb tea!

Whiteberry - Chuugoku Yonsennen no Koi
A very Chinese-sounding, very awesome-sounding, very fun-having rock song.

Some of these descriptions have me intrigued... I shall snatch a few later :D

Suigintou's Friend - March 13, 2007 09:35 AM (GMT)
Update time. I'm on a metal kick, I think, so we got some extra heavy stuff in here, but still a good mix.

Ares - W (Double You)
A Korean metal band that reminds me of Static-X. Definitely worth checking out.

Gojira - The Heaviest Matter of the Universe
This song lives up to its title. Gojira is one of the best heavy metal bands around. How did one of the best heavy metal bands around come from France? I don't know, but they did.

Heavensdust - The Reason
A band out of Japan that plays modern hard rock/metal that includes traditional Japanese instruments and both a male and female vocalist that sing in English. A novel combination, indeed.

Kaddisfly - Snowflakes
Off their brand new album. Alternative, progressive rock not too far off from Incubus.

MPT - Track 10
This time from MPT is a hardcore techno cutting-up of "Hare Hare Yukai," the Haruhi ending theme.

Mr. Bungle - Sleep (Part II): Carry Stress in the Jaw
The second half of this song is possibly the greatest thing ever to be recorded in human history. Seriously. The first half showcases all the band members' technical abilities, but the second half? Pure genius.

Only Human - Living in Truth
A Seattle-area thrash/death metal band with a singer that sounds like Serj Tankian when he actually sings. He's left the band unfortunately, but this is some brutal stuff

Stars of Track and Field - Fantastic
Laid-back alternative group that uses some drum programming (at least in this song).

Tsushimamire - Ume Umai Tane Dekai
Hella catchy. Reminds me of Puffy, but Tsushimamire rocks harder.

Wakamoto Norio - Very Melon
No, maybe I was wrong. This is probably the greatest thing ever to be recorded in the human history.

Holdovers from last time:

Quaff - Kurabe
Really unique song. It sounds like Japanese samurai/battle music mixed with rock. Awesome.

Super Junky Monkey - Blah, Blah, Blah
It's always awesome when a Japanese girl raps. Always. Especially when it reminds you of Rage Against the Machine or Cypress Hill.

It's been a while, but I've been copying every song I have to my hard drive and reorganizing. Here's fifteen new ones. As usual, click the link in my sig.

Ali Project - Nanashi no Mori
This comes from the "funky synth" school of Ali Project, kind of like Ochite Sourou. Good stuff!

Angel'in Heavy Syrup - First Love
Here's a good representation of their sound. If you always feel like being stoned in a van in 1975, this song is for you.

Bob Wills and His Texas Playboys - I'm a Ding Dong Daddy (From Dumas)
Delicious Bob Wills. This song is kind of like swing mixed with jazz and country. Plenty of old, old, incredibly old-school cool!

Gojira - Death of Me
Get out your calculators for this song. A kind of groove death metal that turns into just a minute or so into the track.

Gojou Mayumi - Love & Peace
If you've seen School Rumble Nigakki, this is Magical Mai's theme song. It's lovetastic and peacealicious.

Head Phones President - Inside
Yes, Japan produced bands similar to Kittie and Otep. This is one of them. Best band name.

Katakiri Rekka and Hirota Yoshitaka - Fukushuu no Juukou
Rekka sang the Higurashi ending, and she teams up with a different guy here for more moody music.

Merry - Seishun Neurose
These guys remind me of a Japanese version of At the Drive-In or some other kind of frenetic post-punk. Lots of cool instrumentation.

Miho Hatori - Walking City
The former Cibo Matto vocalist tells a futuristic sci-fi story in this electronic song.

Mod Flanders Conspiracy - Take a Ride on My One-Wheeled Rickshaw
If you like crazy music that will make you both rock and go WTF, get this song. This is actually one of the more serious songs on the album, though, if you can believe it.

Nakahara Mai - Baanana Banana
This is the full version of the Banana Song. Yes. Although, if you know Japanese, that last verse...

Redalice - S O R A (Separate)
A hardcore techno remix of Ryuuguu Rena saying "ka na."

Strawberry Jam - Kasabuta With 'Tambourine'
A female rock group similar in style to GO!GO!7188. This song is catchy as all get out, too.

Super Junky Monkey - Bakabakka
Seriously, these girls are like if Cypress Hill, the Red Hot Chili Peppers, and Rage Against the Machine had Japanese kids. Listen to this!

The Bird and the Bee - F*cking Boyfriend
An electro-jazz duet with a female vocalist full of cynicism. Hot.

Suigintou's Friend - May 21, 2007 03:06 AM (GMT)
Hey hey, kids, it's /songs/ directory the clown.

Our top stories:

Asriel - Yuki Tsuki
This group is kind of gothicesque alternative. It's a really cool song; check it out if you like Ali Project/Yousei Teikoku.

Aural Vampire - Preservative Woman
I said before these guys sound similar to Daft Punk; this song really reminds me of that. If you like catchy...

Gonna Get Got - I Want That Feeling Back
Gotta enjoy white, somewhat geeky hip-hop. I'll search every lost and found to get that feeling back.

Guano Apes - Rain
This is from a female-fronted German hard rock band, but this song is very beautiful and melancholy to me.

Heavensdust - Life to Dawn
A bit heavier than the last Heavensdust song I posted, but from the same album. Hard rock with traditional Japanese instruments. Awesome idea much?

Mosaic.wav - Meronpan
A pretty little ballad about melon bread. Mmm, mmm.

Redalice (feat. Kotsuki Miya + Yuuka) - Otome wa Do My Best Deshou? (Happy Remix)
Actually a cover, not a remix. But it sure is happy (and techno).

Shiraishi Ryoko - Smile
A pop song from the seiyuu responsible for Hayate (Hayate no Gotoku) and Rin (Nagasarete Airantou) in the current anime season.

Silver Forest - Tsurupettan
Oh Touhou doujin music, when will you stop being this awesome? (Never, I hope)

Snow - Through My Eyes
She of the Jigoku Shoujo openings, from her recent mini-album.

Takahashi Mikako - Fancy Cat's Eye
A Machi character song. Oh god yes.

The Clay People - Who Am I?
An industrial band turned hard rock; I really liked this album for some reason.

The Nightwatchman - The Road I Must Travel
Tom Morello does folk music, particularly Irish music on this song.

The Rise - The Strategy of Social Futurism
More electronic hardcore, off their last album.

Yousei Teikoku - Gothic Lolita Propaganda
Awesome song name; awesome song. Sounds like it looks. :P

Suigintou's Friend - July 17, 2008 01:07 AM (GMT)
I miss a lot of my music. :(

Anyway, I have decided to put up some stuff for the first time in a long time:

http://www.thoughtdump.net/songs/ is still the location!

Asriel - Metamorphose
Delicious gothic orchestral music in the vein of Ali Project.

Belanova - Paso el Tiempo
Pop en Espanol. Oh lord, it's so catchy.

Buono! - Kiss! Kiss! Kiss!
The 3rd ED to Shugo Chara. Another catchy, adorable song that I enjoy greatly.

Chata - Taiyou
Kind of a funky J-Pop style from the vocalist who brought you Dango Daikazoku.

Farzin - Baljuvon
If you like weird things like Tunak Tunak Tun, download this now and commence the wtf!

Gonna Get Got - Down, Down, Down
More counterculture hip-hop from this former Mindless Self Indulgence label member.

Heavensdust - And Forgive Me
A standout track off their new album, hard rock including traditional Japanese instruments.

Inoue Marina - Tokuzakari Happy
Kana from Minami-ke's character song. You can imagine, but just listen instead!

Kana - Innocent Starter
A hardcore trance remix of the Mizuki Nana song. I like this one a lot.

Kerli - Walking On Air
New female vocalist/songwriter with an outstanding, uh, creepy track.

Kitamuri Eri - Apron Dake wa Toranai de!
Always love the anime rap. Especially when it's all Akiba'd out. Koharu Biyori OP.

Mizushima Takahiro & Momoi Halko - Don't Worry Be Happy
Nagasumi & San chara-song from Seto no Hanayome. This reminds of a cross between disco, J-pop, and Keiichi & Oishi's Higurashi character song. Yes, what indeed.

Nakanishi Ryosuke - Motteke! Sailor Fuku (Electro Otomechikku Mix)
An awesome, toe-tapping remix of the Lucky Star OP.

Rishloo - Eidolon Alpha
A Seattle band that reminds me of a mix between Dredg, Kaddisfly, and Tool.

Saul Williams - Skin of a Drum
Hip-hop produced by Trent Reznor. The interesting part is that when Saul sings, he really sounds like Trent.
