Title: RMF Secret Santa Contest

Stormin Norman - December 11, 2006 06:25 AM (GMT)
In the spirit of the holidays, our next contest will be an RMF Secret Santa contest. This will be rather simple.

-To start, sign up by posting here before next Friday the 15th.
-Anyone except for myself may enter.
-When the signups end, I will separate the contestants into pairs.
-Several rounds of clues will begin, where you have to come up with a hint for your identity. You will PM me this hint, and I will PM it to your partner.
-The first person from a pair to guess who their partner is will be the winner of that pair.
-The clue rounds will continue until one person from each pair has guessed their partner.
-The winner of each pair will receive a small prize.

I hope to see many of you enter!

Ooh. I thought this was going to be like a regular gift-giving secret Santa, but this is cool, too.

Count me in.

Styx Boatman - December 11, 2006 07:53 AM (GMT)
I think it's time for me to enter a contest...so I would gladly like to join...ah for the spirit of Advent...arrr :arrr:

Bara-bara - December 11, 2006 10:32 AM (GMT)
Okay, I'm in~. ^^

Edit: By the way, this will be a literal 'A and B send one clue per round, which are forwarded to the other by a third party' thing, as opposed to a 'A and B send a few clues at a time, and a nonrelated party will choose a pair of clues to forward from each list for each round that are closest in terms of difficulty' thing? I think the latter approach may be potentially more even, though it's a bit more work...

Stormin Norman - December 11, 2006 07:13 PM (GMT)
Well I was thinking that each round would have a theme. Like the first round would be a picture that's a clue, the second would be a quote or slogan, or something like that.

Bara-bara - December 11, 2006 07:27 PM (GMT)
Ah, that'd work, I guess. I was just thinking about how a general clue with no guidelines could have a rather variable level of difficulty. ^^

A Lion - December 11, 2006 09:29 PM (GMT)
Sounds like fun. Sign me up.

:3

Glossarienvogel - December 12, 2006 03:05 AM (GMT)
Hello, fun contest. I will try you.

FallenSeraphim - December 12, 2006 10:18 PM (GMT)
Sounds very interesting. I'll enter.

Stormin Norman - December 16, 2006 03:07 AM (GMT)
It's Friday now, so the sign ups are over, and I've organized you into three pairs. The first clue will be an image. This can be any image, something you find on the internet or something you make yourself, so long as it is appropriate. You have until this coming Monday, the 18th, to PM me your image clue.

Also, each of you will get one guess per clue round. If you're correct and your partner is not, you win. If both are right, it's a tie, and if neither are right, you move on the the next clue round.

Suigintou's Friend - December 18, 2006 09:16 AM (GMT)
I was thinking: if both people guess right in a round, wouldn't it be more fun to move on to the next round so that there is (a) more participation (b) more likely to be a winner?

Well if you already know who your partner is, then the current clue guessing scheme won't work. If there's a lot of ties, I'll figure something else out.

Suigintou's Friend - December 18, 2006 09:53 AM (GMT)
Oh yeah, I knew I was forgetting something.

Durrrrr.

Glossarienvogel - December 18, 2006 09:58 PM (GMT)
I really think this is an awesome event to be having.

Stormin Norman - December 19, 2006 04:08 AM (GMT)
All three pairs have a winner or have tied after the first round. It went like this:

-Bara-bara wins over FallenSeraphim
-Styx Boatman and Glossarienvogel tie
-Suigintou's Friend wins over A Lion

For the pair that tied, this is how it will work. Each of you will think of a gift you would like this holiday season, and PM me what this gift is. Once I have received both, I will start a new topic. There you will go back and forth asking yes or no questions about each other's selected gift, in a attempt to guess what it is. It will go something like this:

Poster 1:
Is your gift electronic?

Poster 2:
Yes

Does your gift cost more than $100?

Poster 1:
No

Is your gift a video game?

Like that. When it is your turn, you may also guess your opponent's gift instead of asking a question. However, if you guess incorrectly, you lose. So you'll want to make sure you have an idea what it is before guessing, but will also want to make sure your opponent does not guess correctly before you do.

Whoever posts in the topic first gets to ask the first question, and it will alternate as described from there.
