Description: As the title says....
Styx Boatman - September 26, 2006 07:32 AM (GMT)
We've got one for anime, one for manga, and one for music...might as well have one for books..!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Presently reading the Count of Monte Cristo (for the nth time)
- I must say I really love reading this book over and over...vengeance indeed is a dish best served cold. :arrr:
nekoconeko - September 26, 2006 12:18 PM (GMT)
The Last Book in the Universe by Rodman Philbrick (for the 2nd time!)
I really like the way it's displayed on the paper. It's really quick to read, but can get confusing at some points. The only problem is I can't skip parts since my teacher recomended it to me! *last year of course!*
Kisa-chan - September 27, 2006 08:31 PM (GMT)
"Samurai Shortstop" by I forgot. xD Haha
And I'm gonna read "New Moon" by Stephenie Meyer in a few hours
Riza - September 30, 2006 11:43 PM (GMT)
The Dark Tower: Book Seven in the Dark Tower Series by Stephen King. I love his works, and I'm just happy to finally finish this series.
Suigintou's Friend - October 1, 2006 05:41 AM (GMT)
I just re-read
Killing Monsters. A great book that details how children process the media they receive and why they like violence and such things.
Styx Boatman - October 3, 2006 03:46 AM (GMT)
:arrr: Jude the Obscure by Thomas Hardy
- One of the most tragic novels I've come to read...a sad story of shattered hopes and dreams...a must read for everyone.
Miri-chan - October 4, 2006 01:56 AM (GMT)
Scarlet Letter by Nathaniel Hawthorne
It's for AP English III ._.
Styx Boatman - October 14, 2006 04:28 AM (GMT)
The 48 Laws of Power by Robert Greene :arrr:
--Very, very, verrrry nice and instructional book...as insightful as Sun Zi's Art of War...this book is packed with common sense and gives other instructions on how one must deal with the world around him...especially in the pursuit of power...now if only I could get my hands on Clausewitz's On War (Vom Kriege).
nekoconeko - October 17, 2006 11:29 AM (GMT)
Emily of New Moon by *the person who wrote Anne of Green Gables and all those books*

Count Alucard - October 25, 2006 06:54 PM (GMT)

Suigintou's Friend - October 26, 2006 01:59 AM (GMT)
I'm about to finish Fire Sea by Margaret Weis & Tracy Hickman.
Styx Boatman - November 2, 2006 05:13 AM (GMT)
Presently almost done re-reading Nabakov's Lolita...after that I shall re-read once more Raymond Feist's Magician: Apprentice
Nidas - November 2, 2006 01:17 PM (GMT)
I don't really read much for fun anymore, most of my current reading is for my degree. Anyway, for the Theology part of my course, I'm currently reading "A History of God" by Karen Armstrong. Its pretty good. Somehow it manages to avoid the use of overly pretentious language which is usually the biggest problem most academic books have. That makes it a lot more readable than most academic books imo
Kino ex - November 2, 2006 08:06 PM (GMT)
I'm not reading it yet, but I'm planning to read the Kino's Journey novels when they come out. Reviews are positive, even though I don't useally care for reviews. And well...I'm a huge Kino fan and the books is where it all started.

Reminds me of a Computer Architecture textbook I liked for occasionally framing questions in odd contexts, like one asking about what a guy using an "and" and an "or" when ordering food might get, which included "Nothing, for being a wise guy." as an answer. ^^
On topic, I've been reading The Prestige by Christopher Priest, though 'reading' in this case means 'keeping it with me for the rare occasions where I have time to spend in the Uni area and nothing better to do with it'. This means I'm only 67 pages in.
And non-book reading materials don't really count for this topic, but I've also begun reading Watanagashi-hen of the Higurashi games. I've not been spending enough time on that objective recently. =|
Shinku-Chan - November 4, 2006 05:29 AM (GMT)
I have my chinese HOMEWORK book in front of me xDD
Styx Boatman - November 10, 2006 07:43 AM (GMT)
The Professor and the Madman - A Tale of Murder, Insanity, and the making of the Oxford English Dictionary by Simon Winchester
- a most interesting read about the two of the most influential and curious people responsible for compiling that ubiquitous of accessory in most self-respecting libraries in the English-speaking world...arrr :arrr:
Jake - November 11, 2006 04:48 PM (GMT)
Do mangas count?
One Piece vol 1 and Dragonball vol 15

Technically manga are books (particularly tankoubon) but since manga have a separate topic set aside for them better post them there....arrr :arrr:
Count Alucard - November 15, 2006 01:00 PM (GMT)
Just in time for Christmas I'm reading Charles Dicken's "A Christmas Carol."
Suigintou's Friend - November 15, 2006 09:06 PM (GMT)
I'm currently in the middle of Dogs and Demons: Tales From the Dark Side of Japan by Alex Kerr.
Bara-bara - December 27, 2006 02:53 PM (GMT)
Just finished Wintersmith by Terry Pratchett. Points I particularly liked were Rob Anybody's epilogue, and Horace the highly-unusual* pointless side character. ^^
*Explanation:
Horace is a blue-veined cheese which seems to have gained sentience. And also possibly the ability to communicate; it apparently told someone its name at one point somehow... O_o
