Title: Computer Addiction?

Delight - March 8, 2009 03:02 AM (GMT)
So, I've noticed something disturbing. If I'm not going to school, I usually wake up, eat a quick breakfast and then turn on computer. Usually I spend 9/10 of the time I'm awake and at home in the internet or playing computer games.
I think it's not very healthy but I don't really know what to do besides that.
All my old friends are too busy with school/girlfriends/work/hobbys to meet me and I didn't really make new friends that I could go out with.
So, I'm spending all my day before computer because I don't find anything more appealing. Theoretically, I can draw and sculpt miniatures, but I yearn for contact with other people or for some action.
Any ideas what to do?

Throw the goddamn com out of the window.

Or buy boose and drink with your friends for three days in a row. Then you're too drunk to use computer and when you're in terrible hangover, you just don't want to open the com. XD

I could quote the opening post here and it would apply to me almost perfectly.

Try joining a club, maybe? I was in the Drama production at my school for a few weeks, and I ended up spending most of my time away from home because of it.

'course now I'm back to the routine, since it's over. Bleh.

I guess I'll try to go to a club again. I'm in a comics club, journalism club and singing club, but I have lost motivation to go to them.

Euphorian - March 9, 2009 03:42 AM (GMT)
Aw, are they no fun? Well, the point is to meet people and make friends. I guess. Or something.

Delight - March 9, 2009 10:57 AM (GMT)
Well, most of people I meet in these clubs are 16 Years Old Girls :>.<: .

Euphorian - March 9, 2009 10:44 PM (GMT)
...What kind of school do you go to? o.o;

Delight - March 9, 2009 11:35 PM (GMT)
It's not school - it's a local youth palace - they have a lot of various clubs so that young people could get hobbies.

Euphorian - March 10, 2009 04:40 AM (GMT)
And your school- which I'm assuming has people your age- doesn't have clubs?

According to his profile, he's 24. I doubt he goes to school.

I don't know. I think it has a newspaper and a computer graphics club. The latter got gobbled up by my class when it turned out that there isn't enough of us for two groups but too much to be able to work normally on computer graphics classes.
Anyway, it's too far away to go there after lessons and the youth palace has much better teachers and equipment.

I went to comic club today, but no one was there but a teacher - I made a drawing and I think I made some progress - I got some advices. We have a horrible art teacher at school - she doesn't really teach us anything - she should have started with perspective and stuff like that but all she does is telling us to draw something. I guess she got used to having skilled artists as students - a few years before, this school used to have entry exams with drawing and stuff like that.

I have singing club today but I don't think I'll manage to get up for it. It's on 14:30 and it's already 06:18.

I can recommend martial arts ^_^

Can get a little expensive, though, so you have to want it.

You don't know how much that appeals to me also. I'm very addicted to the computer, I used to be addicted to the 360, but with the lack on Gold and games I just left it there. I'm mainly on the computer now watching anime or playing games.

Sadly, I don't have money for martial arts now.

Still, I've tried being more physically active lately - doing some exercises and at least 30 minutes of cardio every day.
To my surprise, it didn't make me feel better physically.

I have discovered that physical effort (in a long run) makes me exhausted instead of making me stronger. I don't know, something is wrong with me - exercises make me really weak, my joints hurt (since a year or two) and I almost constantly have a cold. And the worst thing that my doctor doesn't know what's wrong and can't really help me besides prescribing medicines that don't work :erm: .

Anyway, I started going to youth palace again. I try to be on every comic club. I'm learning something new about drawing every time I'm there.

BTW. When my mother got ill again, I realised why I got addicted to PC. When real life sucks that much, PC is the best friend. Also, I'm not in mood for banal stuff like school, going out, etc. then.

Have you tried reading a book?

Delight - April 15, 2009 02:32 PM (GMT)
Yeah. That's what I'm doing most of the time I'm not using computer and I'm not in school  .
