Title: Neon Genesis Evangelion

Any fans of that anime here  ?

Anyway, it's my second favourite anime, just behind Rozen Maiden. It's a great mind rape  .
Shinji Ikari is one of my favourite anime heroes, just behind Jun  .

And that music - it's simple but it tends to cut deep into brain, especially "Fly Me To The Moon" - it sounds so irrelevant, yet so fitting  .

It's my second favorite as well, falling only behind GaoGaiGar FINAL. The "deep/emo" factor definitely adds value, but when it really comes down to it, the beastly-awesome Evangelion fight scenes are probably the main reason I love it.

Also: The last episode is just freaking amazing in an indescribable way, especially considering what came before it.

emo

I don't recall seeing any Emo poseurs in NGE  .
Also, for some reason I find "Fly Me To The Moon" more depressing and addictive than any other song I have ever heard.

I liked how they could make those beastly-awesome fight scenes a small part of the show and focus on psychology. I like when creators are disciplined enough to be to not let showing-off the ultra-cool thing to overtake a show.
You mean the one with "Congratulations!"?
Yeah, episode 26.

Not by appearances, but Shinji and Asuka were often... so... "D:" and emo, sometimes more than it seemed they should be. Granted, it was often appropriate considering the things they had to deal with, but sometimes it seemed too over-the-top and fake.

...Never watch GGG Final xD

Yeah, episode 26.

It was weird, but I liked it  .

Also, End of Evangelion was mindblowingly awesome  .
Shinji completely breaking down and then being placed in control of Instrumentality and turning everyone into Tang - pure awesomeness  . In this movie his mind became epically screwed-up  .
I don't recall seeing Shinji or Asuka wearing strong make-up and listening to an obscure subgenre of Punk or making up trivial reasons to cry just because it's trendy  .

Well, they both had to deal with their past and their weird parents and war and their personality disorders  . I think that it's way too much for 14 year old kids  .

What is GGG XD ?

Anyway, I made an error of listening the ending song three days ago and it's like a virus - it just keeps destroying my brain since then XDDDDDDDDDDDDD .

I think you're confusing my use of the word "emo" with the cultural trend of "emo", rather than the psychological dysfunction that usually accompanies "emos". :P

GaoGaiGar: King of Braves. It's fifty-two episodes, and fifty of them can be summed up as: Good giant robots kicking the shit out of evil giant robots, and "plot" which gives reason for the fight(s) to happen.

GaoGaiGar FINAL is the eight-episode OVA sequel of GGG. It's basically the same, but with a better overall story and higher production values. It's mainly still about the giant robots kicking ass.

I'm an eva f4n. It's odd though, Asuka's always been my favorite character, and then this last time I watched it, suddenly Rei was. I have no reason for this, especially considering I've always previously rather disliked Rei. o.o

Episode 22 is one of the best in any anime ever though.

Delight - October 20, 2008 11:47 AM (GMT)
I always liked Rei  .

I find calling people with psychological dysfunctions "emo" offensive. It's not like people want to have psychological dysfunctions  .

I've still yet to watch the movies. Are they as good as the show?

I have several so-called psychological dysfunctions (primarily paranoia), yet people label me emo everyday. Besides, there's often no fireproof way to tell the difference between a "posuer" emo and someone with actual dysfunctions. I suggest you stop getting upset about what random strangers say on the Internet, especially when they weren't originally trying to insult anyone. .-.

End of Evangelion is ultra-brutal and completely crazy  . I loved it  .

Let's start with belonging to the "Emo" subculture :P .

Euphorian - October 21, 2008 02:07 AM (GMT)
Or we could not use confusing abbreviations. Emo is the culture. Emotional is what the characters in this show are, with their psychological complexes and what not. Savvy?

To be fair, Shinji is a whiny little vitch, and if he wore more black, he probably would be considered Emo.

Hah, I'm reading the NGE manga now  . Damn, Rei is so awesome       ...

jadestar - July 21, 2009 01:39 AM (GMT)
I'm reading too much right now to start the manga, but I recently finished the anime.

Rei is wonderful. Though she can go overboard, I admire her unlimited devotion. How I was touched when she told Asuka she would kill herself if Commander Ikari told her to!

Delight - July 21, 2009 05:57 AM (GMT)
I'm reading the volume when Asuka appears. Suddenly, reading the manga became a chore. Damn, that girl has really toxic personality.

It makes me wonder how things would go if she wouldn't appear...
