Title: First Anime

I looked through this forum, but surprisingly didn't find a topic for this. :whoa:

What was the first anime you ever watched? For me it was watching Pokemon on TV as a kid. However, I didn't really understand the difference between anime and American cartoons back then. The show that got me into anime was Azumanga Daioh when I watched it in February/March 2006.

Ginga Nagareboshi Gin aka Silverfang. ^^ And I was 3 years old. =P

Astroboy and Sailor Moon. *Hums theme songs*

Then there was Bubblegum Crisis Tokyo 2040 and other anime on TV. Finally I joined the anime society at uni and it all went downhill from there.

Sailor Moon. It made me hate anime and manga for many years XD .

Probably Pokemon... That got me into anime, before I was even sure what anime was. But I believe the one that really drove me to nigh-obsession was Macross 7, either in 2005 or 2006.

Digimon.
I at the time It was in style I was in the first grade. Plus I liked dinosaurs and most of the digimon looked like dinosaurs to me and as a first grader we all loved action cartoons so one great thing with another great thing put together was awesome. I still like it today. Though the 3rd and 4rd season where kinda a let down. I liked 1 and 2 the best because they connected.

Totoro. I had no idea what was going on. I don't really think that would change if I watched it again, though. Then Grave of the Fireflies in 9th grade English, then miscellaneous stuff with chums in 11th and 12th, which led to my seeing the first two episodes of Azumanga and needing it. I had already starting buying Excel Saga and seen Eva and that, but Azumanga was what really got me watching.

Longwait for American release was loooong, and file-sharing on the Mac was not so hot back then.

First anime I ever saw was Pokemon.
First anime I ever followed was The Twelve Kingdoms.
First anime I ever followed, in Japanese with subs, was Tokyo Mew Mew.

So I'd consider Tokyo Mew Mew my first anime.

The show that really got me into anime was Serial Experiments: Lain, when I saw it at the video store for some reason.
