Title: Favorite Anime of 2008

Norman - October 9, 2008 07:47 AM (GMT)
This is a topic for those of us that like to keep up with the newest anime fresh out of Japan.

Which shows from the 2008 anime season have you been watching? Which ones did you enjoy the most (and the least)?

Euphorian - October 11, 2008 12:23 AM (GMT)
The only one I think I've seen from this year is Spice and Wolf.
I enjoyed Spice and Wolf the most.
I enjoyed Spice and Wolf the least.

Guy - October 14, 2008 08:31 PM (GMT)
The ones I've finished, or am watching... in rough order of favorite to not-quite as good:

Junjou Romantica
Penguin Musume Heart
Kaiba
Majin Tantei Nougami Neuro
Eve no Jikan
Hidamari Sketch x365
Kaiji
Natsume Yuujinchou
Kite Liberator
Kamen no Maid Guy
Kurenai
Mahou Tsukai ni Taisetsu na Koto ~Natsu no Sora~
Antique Bakery
Bamboo Blade
Macross Frontier
Amatsuki
Wagaya no Oinari-sama
Blade of the Immortal
Soul Eater
Telepathy Shoujo Ran
Minami-ke Okawari (First season was much better)
Hatenkou Yuugi
Strike Witches

There's a few more I watched part-way and dropped, but I probably can't remember most of them... I plan to watch some later, maybe next year, when there isn't as much quality new anime. In no particular order:

Zero no Tsukaima: Princess no Rondo
Kyouran Kazaoku Nikki
Slayers Revolution
World Destruction
Ryoko's Case File
Spice and Wolf
Zettai Karen Children
Vampire Knight
Allison to Lillia
Golgo 13
Itazura na Kiss
Koihime Musou
Special A
H20 ~Footprints in the Sand~
Kanokon (By far the worst one I gave a chance >_<)

Glossarienvogel - October 15, 2008 03:12 AM (GMT)
Toradora and Hyakko are awesome. Somethingsomething no Index is also quite fun. And since, like a small rodent, I can't remember anything from previous seasons, that will do for now.

Norman - October 16, 2008 07:43 AM (GMT)
2008 shows I've finished/plan on finishing:

Clannad After Story*
ef - a tale of melodies*
Hidamari Sketch x365*
Koihime Musou*
Kurenai
Minami-ke Okawari
Nogizaka Haruka no Himitsu*
Spice and Wolf
Strike Witches
Toradora*
True Tears
Wagaya no Oinari-sama (Initially dropped it, but I plan to watch it once a batch torrent becaomes available.)
Yotsunoha
Zero no Tsukaima: Princess no Rondo*
Zettai Karen Children*

Ones marked with a * I haven't finished, either because they're still airing, lack of subs, or I just haven't gotten around to it yet.

Shows where I watched a few episodes, but ultimately dropped it:

Allison to Lillia
H20 ~Footprints in the Sand~
Kanokon
Persona -Trinity Soul-
Rosario + Vampire
Shigofumi
They Are My Noble Masters
To Love-ru
Vampire Knight
World Destruction
Zoku Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei (Though I dropped this mostly due to lack of subs, maybe I should pick it back up since it's fully subbed now?)

As for favorites:
Spice and Wolf: Economics and naked Horo make it educational and fun.
Hidamari Sketch x365: Miyako and Yuno. 'nuff said.
Kurenai: Murasaki is the most badass 7-year-old ever.

Toradora, Clannad After Story, and ef - a tale of melodies are also promising, but I'll reserve my final judgment until they've finished airing.

I would have liked Spice and Wolf a lot more if it weren't so flirty. Good anime, though.

I think Shigofumi's my favourite. The few eps of Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei I saw cracked me up but I haven't seen enough to call it a favourite.

Other stuff from 2008:

Hidamari Sketch was really cute and fun but the action was a little jerky and gave me a headache so I had to drop it. :\ I know, lame.

Soul Eater wasn't too bad, but only saw a few eps.

Will be watching Nogizaka Haruka no Himitsu soon. (When it's *finally* downloaded.)

New stuff I'm liking:
[...]
To Aru Majutsu no Index

That's on my list too. Others:
- Chaos;head seems to have potential. Though, said potential may be for a Bad End on the scale of Higurashi or School Days...
- Yozakura Quartet is disappointing in (many) places, but still retains a fair bit of what made the source interesting. Could turn out quite well, or be a real mess, depending on where the plot ends up going - quite a few people from the Rozen anime are on this, so I'm hoping they deviate in a way that makes a good series with the time and material available (like what happened with RM).
- QMA was good fun.

Besides those, though, I can't really think of any other things from 2008 that I really liked. Perhaps because, for much of the year, I wasn't watching anything (or at least, not anything recent)? Or I could be forgetting things that should be on my list but I don't remember as being 2008 shows...

This topic is for anime that started in 2008, not everything you watched in 2008. :erm:

Takashi - November 17, 2008 01:06 AM (GMT)
