So, I thought it would be nice if there was a thread for fanfics (from outside of forums) recommendation and comments (with spoilers in spoiler tags, of course).

I just finished reading Seven Faces - I spent half of a day reading it. It was the most awesome Rozen Maiden fanfic I have ever read :wub: .
It's so good, that it's like a third season of anime to me :wub: .
It has a well though out, gripping plot, good character development and good narration.
It has plenty of drama (that has much more sense than the depressing buckets of angst and tragedy from Träumend) and Jun is maturing a lot, like in the first series.
The only problem with that I have is that the author has some problems with following speech patterns of the dolls and doesn't include things like "desu".

Did anyone else read it?

My thoughts after finishing reading it:
[spoiler]The whole love and transformation of dolls thing has totally blown my mind. It was interesting to see how poor Jun was dealing with his increasing loneliness caused by departure/death of his close ones. Also, the whole Rozen family/Sakurada family plot was great :D .
All the tragedies gave it a distinct dark and oppressive atmosphere, but almost every element of darkness served moving the plot forward and didn't turn the fanfic into an angstfest.
Also, Jun/Shinku, Jun/Suiseiseki, Jun/Suigintou, Jun/Kirasomething romances :wub: .[/spoiler]

I know that some authors don't like speech patterns [ie. desu, nano etc], and I know it's one of the things that really annoyed me about Suiseseki.

I liked one on FF.Net called 'Broken like a Doll' but I don't think the author is going to finish it [shame].

I really liked seven faces because of the way it was written, and the theory behind the new Alice method.

I meant the way they speak in general, not only verbal ticks.

^ If you think about it, "desu", "na no", and "kashira" shouldn't even be used in English Rozen Maiden fanfics. They were used for the Japanese language, and so they shall continue being used in the Japanese language. It's like randomly putting romanized Japanese phrases like "Ohayou!" and "Arigatou" in English fics. It's wrong.

Here's another good fic from FF.net - "You are All I Ever Wanted". It's thirty sentences of Suiseiseki and Souseiseki, and it even includes evil Souseiseki!! :lol: And even DYING Souseiseki!! :smile: :smile:

DESU DESU (...) DESU

Just like "Heil Hitler!" and "Sieg Heil!" in non-german language WWII movies and "Amen" in prayers. It may be "wrong", but Desu is so characteristic for Suiseiseki in the anime that it feels wrong when she doesn't say it :P .

Another one that I liked is Carpe Diem. A cute little fanfiction about Suigintou getting her revenge :wub: *giggles*. NSFW - contains Suigintou x Shinku yuri. It happens during the last episode of the first series and is pretty well written.

[spoiler]I just love when Gin-sama tortures Shinku :wub: *giggles*. It should happen more often in RM series :wub: ... It's soooo nice that this time she does it right and kills Nori, Jun and the other dolls before playing with Shinku*giggles*.[/spoiler]

I just finished reading an awesome doujinshi - C Series.
It's a darker and edgier alternative ending to RM series. It's based on a premise that Bara-bara and Shinku died somewhere during Träumend and that the Alice Game somehow ended without a winner.
It has an interesting graphics style and awesome combat choreography. I love it's atmosphere :wub: . I can't believe people can create such awesome things :wub: .

I really like Jun's Birthday too, but towards the end, it became a bit weird [with the zombie dolls, and Kira jumping in towards the end].

Indeed, Carpe Diem is pretty awesome !! Though me hates, hates, HAAATES GinxShinku (It's supposed to be GinxMegu and ShinkuxJun :P )

I think it's forgivable, because the first series of the anime didn't have Megu :D .

I finished re-reading the C Series and I'm still stunned by their pure awesomeness. I just love that slim/dark/tall character style and faces of the characters and the brutality of combat which is fought mainly with melee weapons :wub: .

[spoiler]The beginning of Crossfire with Shinku and Bara bara torn in half is awesome.
It's interesting to see Suiseiseki so full of grim determination...
And then Megu getting killed and that explosion of emotion - pure awesomeness...
Somehow everyone seems to be tainted with darkness here.

Then the Conclusion - with even more gore and darkness...
I loved how Jun tried recreating Shinku and ended up creating a poor weakling girl who also wants to become someone else (oh, the irony :D !).
And then Suigintou getting mortally wounded in fight with Bara, who went completely nuts. I wonder what Suigintou means when talking about about "her" (Megu?) coming for her...

And then Shinku coming to doll heaven and meeting that psycho doppleganger doll :D . I love how her calmness in combat contrasts with fury and desperation of other combat scenes. She seems to like calling people "junk", though.
Also, I love how despite all that darkness and horror there is a bright and heart warming end :smile: [/spoiler]

The C Series was breathtaking. I love Jun's rebuilding of Shinku... she is like a daughter <3 So cute!! The art style was also really neat. Thanks a ton for the download!
