Anyone watching Strike Witches?
Havenīt found a Thread about it, so I started one ^^

Awesome Anime & Manga basically entirely made of fanservice *g

The Story: In the Year 1939 the World is attacked by an alien-like Force called the Neuroi. As no human Army is able to drive them back and Europe is nearly completely conquered by the Neuroi, the Worldīs most powerful Nations join forces and create a new military strategy. The combination of Magic and Technology. New Weapons only usable by Girls with magical Powers are created and so the Strike Witches are founded.

Interesting about the Anime is the mass of WWII references. Every Girl is based of a flying Ace of that time. They even share the same characteristics and some appear (like an Eye-patch for example). The Neuroi on the other hand are all based on prototype weapons (mainly the ones of the Wehrmacht).

Also the whole Worldmap in the Strike Witches Universe is based on the real World just with minor political and geographical changes.

Here a little Characterchart for you ^^

A very special thing about it: The Girls wear no Skirts as they would get stuck in their Striker Units and Women didnīt wear Pants at that time.

Some may say itīs just a stupid fapping Anime, but itīs pretty funny and Iīm enjoying it. A huge amount of WWII references based on well researched information adds to the awesomeness =)

I've been watching this as well. The WWII references are interesting, as are the pantsless flying lolis. :P

My favorite character is Francesca, primarily due to Chiwa Saito.

Yeah WWII references ^^
I especially liked the way they referred to Hartmannīs Hat-event. But Erica rocked by default in Episode 7 > "Itīs sleepday..." ^^

Oh I think Francesca has one of the biggest fanbases next to Eila. But my favorite chara is still Perrine (I really donīt get why most people hate her oô).

Next Ep. seems to be about Minna. I hope they donīt kill her off just because the real Wilcke died in WWII. Otherwise I hope that there is a new Neuroi in the next Ep - I wonder on which Nazi-prototype-weapon the next one will be based on >.>

For what seemed like a loli-fest at first glance, it turned out to be surprisingly decent. I haven't been keeping up with the episodes lately... But I'll probably end up downloading all of it, burning it to a disc, then popping said disc into a computer sixteen years from now when I'm the last man on earth, and there's nothing left to do but entertain myself with all outdated anime downloaded in my youth.

I never noticed the WWII references... Interesting...

I would have watched this beyond the first episode, since I do like little girls who fight, but I sensed drauma and stayed away. From what I hear, I may have been right.
