Ok Pixel'rs

Here is my first tut here. today i'm going to show you how i make
my anime styled character's hair

and for this tut, we're going to make a spiky hair style (which is
really really usual and commonly used hair style in any anime characters
we've seen in our whole lives)

This tut is very applicable to character portraits....
if you're making an RPG

portraits are an important factor in RPG's...

So ler's start shall we?

Ok here is the base of the character's portrait.

Let's give him some spiky hair..... but
how should we start?

Actually guys, anime spiky hairs are not that hard to do.
since they are spiky... curves are not neccessary here

so to start this, i used the line tool

if you can see.. i outlined the hair style already by using line tool
it did'nt took me a minute outlining that. it's so easy...
So that is the first step of making a hair.

Next..... we will fill a color inside the hair outline. and
remember to choose a bit lighter color than the outline color.

Ok that looks good already, ain't it?
but we need to add more detail because its an anime portrait
of the character to be shown big in the screen.

So will make the lighting on the hair.....
first by outlining some shapes inside the hair shape....
like this:

Ok then again let's grab that fill color tool.
and apply the same color.

We're almost done.
BTW its like DBZ hairstyle.

Ok let's move on to the final procedure.
We will add further detail to the hair by giving it
more lines... the most lines should start at the middle.
the rest will still start relative to the middle point.

then also.... try to draw hair's casting shadow on the character's
face to add more depth effect and realism to the protrait.

like this...

Ok we're done.

You can design spikey hair styles of how you want
by outlining it first... then the following steps
and you can come up with a decent looking spiky
hairs in lightning speed

Ok that's all for now.
I hope this tut helps you a bit.

Enjoy life:)

Not bad at all. One thing to consider, next time you may want to consider explaining the texturing of hair some more. Though you did shade and texture it, there wasn't a whole lot of explanation towards how to choose. Perhaps you could just show an example with a simple lock of hair even, such as this one I threw together.

As simple as it seems, alot of people don't notice things like the shine on hair. It would probably be much more beneficial if you explained on that some.

Overall, good work though. :)

yeah i guess i didn't put enough
explanation there....
hey maybe i'll edit the tut.

thanks toopz

anyways i will explain more.....
on the next tut

the next tutorial is about straight hairs....
straight hairs are more shiny than spikies.
though straight hairs has a solid shininess spot
in the entirety of the hair. further info will be
on the tutorial.

Actually, that was a fine tutorial. I was just saying that hair shine would be a good thing to give some hints on next time. :)
