The rather peculiarly named Ashcorn hail from Italy and are firmly entrenched in the modern industrial metal scene. The promo mentions the fact that they fuse classic metal with traits of modern metal but to be honest I'm not hearing even 1% of classic metal or rock feel in this band. The music in this band is based around sweeping industrial metal halfway between Nine Inch Nails, Korn and Fear Factory. Unfortunately the music on offer is nowhere near the levels of the giants of modern industrial metal or the nu-metal pioneers, Korn.

These guys try hard to be heavy, aggressive, use industrial dancey beats, tick all the cliches for modern metal with screams, heavy vocals, use double bass drumming, industrial vocoder mics, soaring clean vocals etc. You name it they try it on this platter but it all sounds really rather tame and with very little musical impact on the listener. The vocal styles are not anything to write home about either and the general air is of a band trying very hard to fit in within the modern industrial metal scene but ultimately failing. In fact the clean vocals in this band are perhaps the most limiting of all the weak aspects that I can hear, sounding quite painfully weak on occasion.

It's hard to pick out too many positives from this album but I suppose they have the perfunctory foundations in place for a possible future within the modern scene but at the moment the songwriting just isn't there and the rather weak production doesn't help one iota.

I don't mean to sound overly harsh or critical as the band is not totally awful and have obviously impressed in some circles to allow this album to be released, but once again personally speaking this music does diddly squat for me. If I was an industrial or modern nu-metal fan(which I'm not), I'd just rather put a Fear Factory CD on where you are actually guaranteed heaviness and class.
