Hail And Kill! Classic heavy metal band Conquest Of Steel aren't messing about on this, their second full length album. Nope, the follow-up to "Hammer And Fist" is yer actual full-blown concept album. I'm probably wrong, but the title seems to indicate some kind of reggae revolution, something I am a hunnerd percent against, so let's take a listen.

Hmm, I think I'm wrong, but I'm not sure. It's hard to tell from the lyrics which are presented in olde worlde stylee, but there's no mention of Jamaica, Bob Marley or Lenny Henry. Instead, it seems to be one of those stories that people who visit Games Workshop will enjoy. Alone. In their mums basement. Musically, however, it's top notch, epicus heavy metallicus, which fans of mid-eighties Manowar and Iron Maiden will lap up. Now I enjoy a fur loin cloth as much as the next fully heterosexual man, so had a rather splendid time here.

I'm not a huge fan of Dan Durrants vocals, but he only has himself to blame. After all, DD Danger, Chris 'The Destroyer' Mills, Vic Victory and James 'Claymore' Clarker put some thought into their metal names, so I have to question his conviction. Best bits? 'The Prophecy', 'The Hangman's Smile' and 'Raise Your Fist'.

Their ambitions may outstrip the output for now, but they're having a go at making something special. And for that they are to be lauded and encouraged. Hail And Kill, indeed!
