IMPELLITTERIWicked Maiden
Metal Heaven 2009
That great bane of the spellchecker, Chris Impellitteri, is back with his latest album, one that sees the return of Mr Rob Rock on vocals, for the first time in six years. So, if I was to tell you that this is a folk fusion jazz album with trip hop overtones, you'd know that either I'm a liar, or that I've taken leave of my senses. Both reasonable conclusions, but it's the former. For this is another mighty fine installment of shred driven, melodic power metal.
Something that may come as a bit of a relief for Impellitteri fans who've had their patience tested with recent developments. But, panic over, this is a return to form for the guitar maestro who seems to have rediscovered his passion for all things metal.
There are some mightily impressive riffs on display, attached to some really good songs, which will see fans taking the likes of 'Garden Of Eden', 'The Vision' and the delightfully old school metal sound of 'High School Revolution' very much to heart.
With an excellent production and strong performances from all concerned, including drummer Brandon Wild and bassist James Pulli, this is one to enjoy.
