Well, this is an interesting one, even allowing for the arty-farty element that creeps in now and then. It's a bit prog-metal, without really being either prog or metal, something that seems to make no sense, but does.

The Polish outfit put out their debut single, 'Jestem' in 2006, but the usual array of lineup changes meant it took a fair amount of time for their sound to be refined and their personnel to stabilise. A few months in the studio and 'Time Must Have A Stop" is the result, and something that fans of Opeth, Blackfield, Anathema and Porcupine Tree might have an interest in.

They're actually not a million miles away from Riverside, the much lauded Polish act, although Votum have more oomph to their music than the more progressively inclined Riverside. It's a good sound, and if the production doesn't always match the ambition, it's something that can be fixed in the future.

It's a dark and brooding release, with plenty of promise. The middle section run of 'Passing Scars', 'Train Back Home' and 'The Hunt Is On', is the best part of the album, well worth listening to, and if the Polish six-piece can build on this, we should definitely hear more from them.
