Title: What is it about him?
Pythos - October 8, 2009 03:34 AM (GMT)
What is it about this man that makes him (at least in the minds of some here) incredible if not awesome?
I know his music, and style of his music has a lot to do about his allure. There is nothing else quite like his compositions and use of instruments.
But his appearance, at least for me plays a major part. But what is it about it?
When one really gets down to it, he is indeed a freak (absolutely no offense there, I am just using the dictionary term in a loose manner). He is a guy that wears fancy clothes, of feminine nature, and black and white (predominately) make up, and doesn't speak a word. He has a near permanent neutral expression on his face (though his eyes betray a lot sometimes). His imagery is both dark and romantic in many ways.
I am a guy, and I find his image pleasing. But not like looking at an attractive female. There is something else. There is absolutely no sexual energy, just sincere admiration. Is it the aesthetics? The composition of his appearance and backgrounds? I find his MDM look, or EGA look more appealing than his EGL or MM looks, though those are pretty impressive. His works such as his primary instrument is just gorgeous. I look at my Juene Fille, and see a most beautiful instrument, with sinister lines. Almost a violin body, with asymmetric horns coming off the top. A head stock that give the impression of a violin, just flat, but just as curvy. The guitar truly deserves the title "Young Girl" Every one that has seen it, just stare at it in wonder "what is that?" several have asked, quickly followed by "That is a beautiful guitar." This is a product of the mind in that spiky coiffed head, often seen vigorously slamming up and down while playing out his music on the stage.
I can't put my finger on it. He just looks so....cool. I guess.
Perhaps it is an acknowledgment of the work that goes just into his personal appearance. Perhaps it is a deep seeded desire to be like him, in looks and personality. Be the heartthrob of so many, by just being yourself. (contradictory I know).
What is it for you that has you admire, or dare I say love this strange little man? (well is he really that little? LOL)

To me, Mana just takes my breath away.........
I adore his MM looks the best though. I remember when I first laid eyes on Mana back in 2005, I was absolutely stunned by his beauty and elegance. My sister was to get married, but I didn't care--all I could think about, hear, see and draw--was Mana.
Those placid blue eyes just burrow into your soul leaving you--breathless.
Mana has ever since, been my muse for anything I put my heart and soul into.
When you own some of his very own designs--be it clothing, instruments, CDs ect...you can feel the love he puts into each detail. Just today, I was showing a male friend of mine my MmM blouse with oodles of rose cross lace on it. I pointed out to him, that every last detail of any of Mana's works--has to be the way it was meant to be; that lace, being a good example.
He truely is........amazing.

Hmmm, analyzing it... I think it's just that he seems like such a mysterious person... and mostly everyone is attracted to this. I'm not in the mood to write many pretty words, so I'll continue later...

I love the fact that if you strip away the stardom of him he's just another otaku.
Otaku = <33

LOL. I love to see this. That's how we should all love him.
You can love the so freakin' mysterious and silent Mana but hey, he's not that silent and mysterious movin' all the time you know. Like he's not that mysterious buying milk at the grocery store.
but that's the way I like him \(;_____; )/ <333
Come on he has like growing lunar crystalk whatever rocks in his house. XD Isn't that amazing

I hate it when people do the "OMGZZZ HEZ SOOOOOOOO MYSTERIOUS LYKE!!!"
Lets face it... He prolly goes home to a proper man cave of a place and not being funny when he's on tour... 5 men on a bus?! oh the shenanigans! XD

To know whether or not he goofs around like a typical guy (kid?), just re-watch the vignettes in the European tour. Moment's of silliness worthy of a Monty Python Award of slightly silly antics.
1) Standing in a field in full garb...playing air guitar. (suddenly)
2) Going to the market with your band mates in full garb, and completely acting like royalty...except when showing off your choice of mind numbing amber liquid.
3) Climbing on a jungle gym....in full garb, including 6 inch high platforms.
4) Hopping on a swing and swinging, in same as above including the platforms. (and unfortunately like a kid, injuring oneself while jumping off said swing, ouch)
5) Every darn time he gets caught on camera in the background of another member's interview he either flashes "devil's horns" or the peace sign. (Ok, that's not so funny, but neat none the less, and I think he gets "caught on film" on purpose)
6) Drawing on the wall in a concert prep area.
Then not shown on videos
a) Having sea monkeys, nuff said.
B) completely screwing up growing those moon crystal things (and who hasn't done that?), and his reaction to it.
c) Several other wonderfully silly and Non-mysterious things mentioned in the Madoushos.
In short the guy is only mysterious to people who don't consider themselves fans. But to some of his fans, he is as mysterious as any other celebrity probably even less so for M+A members.
Something else that is really obvious with him. He loves his fans. You can tell with his demeanor on some of the convention vids, with audiences. It is like he knows without them, he would just be another shleb working in the grind of Japanese culture. I know many artists are like that too, but Mana just exudes appreciation without saying one word. That takes a lot to do.

I like Mana so much, but i don't think he is a god. He is only a japanese guy that has a tallent. He looks different in casual life! He doesn't wear heavy make up and fancy clothes and his hair is definitely "down " xD. But that is the way i like him. He is mysterious when he is on stage, but he actually speaks, laughs, is sad or angry when we don't see him. I don't like he doesnt show his emotions to us...
Once i thought that Mana was something veeeeery special, but when i met one japanese guy that was really similar to Mana (both looks (face features) and tallent), i began not to consider Mana as "someone that is veeery special". There are more people like him. He is a typical japanese guy with a huge amound of make up and long hair. That is all. But, well, i still like him.
I even don't think he is that much tallentive. I have said this so many times, but i have to say it again... I think now i know how to create music like he creates and it is really not that much hard as it looks like at first ;)

Ah, but not everyone is talented like you or Mana. What is easy to you may not be easy for others.
I am a pilot, and pretty much naturally so, I really understood how a plane operated and could fly it with little help, it was the finesse that needed work.
You may have a talent that you until recently didn't know of.
I have been learning to play the guitar, and am amazed at how simple some of the most awesome rifts actually are. The rift for Pink Floyd's money, dirt simple, it just requires long fingers. What is the amazing thing is that a person at one time or another thought about how to combine the sounds of vibrating strings in such a manner it makes a tune, and from there, music. From there the adding of the sounds of a pounding drum, and, in Mana's case bringing in instruments not normally heard outside of a symphony, granted they are synthesized, but is there any doubt that he would turn down the opportunity to include a full orchestra along with real pipe organ, if he was offered such? He probably has dreams of such.
When you really get down to it, everyone is just an average person, some just have characteristics and talents that set them apart from the masses, and sometimes those characteristics are very thin and easy to shed.
IF you indeed have a talent, I hope you pursue it, and gain success with it, it is a gift, and should be used wisely, and not hidden
Like I did for too long.

lol
I been told by someone I'm rather talented in a certain field XD
I'm not saying who said it or what it's in though... or not yet anyway XD
'Cept Ludivine knows... but she's sworn to secrecy until I say :ph43r:
...Yet, probably only the ancient users on here will see the sheer lulz of it
hahahaha XD

You guys have brought up some good points already... D:
First of, he is kind of mysterious (we all know that now, k?). Of course, he's only mysterious when he's on stage, during most filmed interviews, in GLB, etc. But I guess he's a pretty normal guy off camera/stage.
At first, before I saw footage where he showed his real, not-so-mysterious nature, I thought he was, lyke, supor mysteriouslike. After I watched the Invite to Immortality and ~Fated~ raison d'etre DVD and saw how he acts off stage, I got a whole new picture of him in my head.
I just love how he can be both mysterious and goofy at the same time. He rarely changes his facial expression, as well as he uses colored contact lenses and alot of make-up (or sunglasses). At least that's my impression of him. Because of this, we have to think for ourselves what he might look like while he's laughing or crying. This is probably what makes him so... otherworldly.
Another factor that adds up to his raw awesomeness: his work. I love all his music, even though it's not all perfect. I love both MM and MdM. I have yet to step into a Moitie shop, but it has got to be a good label based on what I've already seen and heard.
Furthermore... I'm totally in love with him. Yes, I'm quite aware of the facts that he is WAY older than me, lives far far away, would never go on a date with a crazed teenage girl, might already have a girlfriend, blablabla. I'm just saying that I'm very attracted to him.
Before I knew about him and was gradually getting more into gothloli, I started to imagine myself with a boyfriend who was liked aristocratic fashion. Then, when I got into MM and, of course, Mana, my first thoughts on him was that the only thing he wore was women's clothing. That was until I eagerly started to search for pictures of him. When I first saw him in EGA, I was blown away. No one can deny that he is really good looking, even if he wears make-up. I find him downright sexy, but not only because of his appearance. It's been said that he is a very nice person, aswell as he's pretty shy. Aaand he's a nerd. This makes him seem less mysterious, and makes him seem a lot more human.
In conclusion; Mana is really one of a kind. He seems like a really mysterious person, but in reality, he's just a normal person. But I know we all love him because of he's unique. 'Cause he is.

I totally agree with this...
When I first heard of Malice Mizer, he was the one I fell in love with.
lips_blood_red - October 15, 2009 02:13 AM (GMT)
first i love his music. I fell in love with Malice from the first time i heard and saw Beast of Blood, but when i listened to Memoire i gat totally mad!! and started going madder and madder as i listened to Malice and when i knew he was the main brain behind these precious project (beside my dearest Közi :heartbeat: ) i was like
same with MdM, i love MdM as well, not like Malice, but almost. I feel entrapped by Mana when reading his interviews and the way he talks about his music and the world he pretends to create. <33
and as Izumi said, when you realize behind all his eccentric appeareance and his unveliabable androginy beauty. He's nothing else but a sweet nerdie japanese beautiful guy!!
i mean, Mana show us nerd people can be rockstars as well, and music genius as well!
and that's why i think he's awesome after all!
