Title: Edwards Jeune Fille X
Description: I gotz one

Pythos - September 26, 2009 12:46 AM (GMT)
So after much annoyance with Paypal, and some worrying moments it finally arrived. My first, and most likely only guitar. My brother years ago spent some odd thousand dollars on his first instrument, a Gibson les Paul. Well though I like the Les Paul, I wanted something Unique. A Jeune Fille is quite unique to say the least.

What I got was the Edwards version, produced by ESP. It is a replica of :mana:'s earlier Mdm guitar. Satin black, with gun metal gray fittings, and Floyd Rose bridge. Like his later instruments it has one active pickup. I got the Edwards because from the reports I read on the net about Edwards guitars they differ very little from the actual ESP ones, that I could never afford in my wildest dreams:)

Compared to the Les Paul, this thing sounds HEAVY and clear. It has a nice sound, though it also has a kind of warble to it if the strings are struck too hard, this is probably a result of the Floyd rose tremolo.

Aside from one small error on the manufacturer's part, this thing is near flawless, not a dimple on the finish, and not one sharp point. The Mdm logo, and cross are crisp and finely detailed.

The Inlay of the fret board is the only trouble point. Instead of "Jeune Fille", it has "Jenne Fille"

Perhaps I have gotten my self another Mana Sama creation, the Jenne fille, named after a lost love or current love. Then again...it could be someone at the factory goofed.

I look at it like Sabe, or that imperfection that make something more perfect. This is certainly case with this.

I did some poses of me with it, mundane like, and realized it didn't look right. So I got in my cosplay attempt (I do have an actual costume in the works), please be kind the makeup was rushed, and terrible, LOL. But the point is the instrument.

This is it above my old loaner from my brother. Both are classic in my opinion, I just like the looks of the JF more. But you should be able to see the "Jenne Fille" inlay. LOL

An accidental low light shot of the MDM logo. Nice wallpaper material here.

A cool shot. I know it is the same shoddy cosplay of past, but my actual one is in the works.

Custumary devil's horns pic. LOL

Close up of the headstock, the only difference between a true ESP, and the Edwards is the Edwards logo.

and a lousy attempt at Guitar jab.

I really like this instrument, it is so unique, and has a nice heavy sound when on the amp, also with a good amp, or effects pedal, this guitar can sound like the les Paul, just crisper, due to the active pickups.

Due to issues with the thumnails not working I just replaced them with direct links. Hopefully they work.
Hope you liked.

Did you get raped by US customs for importing that!?

Ludivine - September 26, 2009 01:32 AM (GMT)
As you said, yes you should resize your pics.

Izumi, As of yet I have to get "raped" by US customs. But I have money in a holding pattern just in case they send a bill.

I am expecting one for $344 or so. Which sucks...but to be honest, it is worth it.

Reactions by my friends have been Extremely positive, alot of them say "they have never seen anything like it" or stuff along those lines.

Unique, just like I wanted.

Wow, it looks really nice! I want to get one too, even though I don't play guitar at all. XP
Lucky you are. :3

Dont know if its the same in the US as it is in the UK but you pay customs first before it gets release to the couriers who bring it to you. Looks like you got lucky escape.

The regular postal service to my knowledge. However it was my friend who recieved it, so I'll have to ask.

That would be too cool to escape customs fees. However was claimed as "gift" with a full description and it's value ($1,500), and upon checking with the customs (lousy) web page, it stated that Gifts below $2000, for personal use are assessed a $2.00 fee. But seeing how lousy the site is, I would not be surprised if this is a fee applied to the customs fee.

I also noticed that, The girl that runs Nightworld (a Mana fan site ) who has pics of her Autographed JF, actually has herself an Edwards E-JF-X, like mine, just with Mana's chicken scratches on it:).

As I am sure you all know an Bronze Jeune Fille goes for nearly $10,000...not in my craziest dreams. An ESP Jeune Fille Gips goes for something like $6000 some odd bucks.

So I think $1,500 is a fair deal for such an instrument, that really draws the eyes. I brought it into Guitar center to get a coffin case for it, and EVERYONE in the store looked on it with awe, and there were many "That is one Awesome guitar" and the like. Getting the case however....yea, there are drawbacks to unique shapes:) I just ended up getting a case with the JF's length, and gutted it. I will install new compartments for stuff later, but the JF is now safe and sound, when not in use, something that was concerning since bringing it home in the supplied gig bag, was it getting hit or kicked, or otherwise hurt...which would suck.
Now it rests peacfully in an appropriately shaped case.

:dix:

OMG! a Jeune Fille! that's quite expensive!Congrats gor you!! andi'm pretty envious! but lol! in a nice way ^^

tell me!! did the croos sparkling works?!!

can you pic yourself playing it with the cross sparkling?!

i'm sorry for demands... but i think if i ever get one jeaune fille one day, i would be like a kinder playing all day just to make it shine!!

yr LesPaul is lovely as well!

i'm so needing my Fender now! T_T

edit: ok, now i'm confused... did you pay only $1,500

is it an original ESP or is it some kind of a replica? that would explain the jenne fille thing...

Pythos - October 28, 2009 03:00 AM (GMT)
Sorry for the long delay to for a reply.

It is an Edwards (ESP Licensed replica, still of very high quality, I had a guitar shop check it out, the only dings are the painted on inlay, and some slight rough areas of the paint. )
There is no way I could get an actual ESP Jeune Fille. The cross does not light up, and the bridge is of his older design (floyd Rose). (This is of his earliest guitar with Mdm)

I can later get the inlay actually installed with mother of Pearl, and I am not sure if I will change it to the proper Jeune Fille. I kinda like Jenne fille. LOL.

It sounds incredible and my brother keeps sneaking it out to play it, and he is the owner of the Les Paul. So that speaks volumes to me anyway, my brother also knows his instruments.

There is a cosplayer around the other forums (I think flowers of Night, I am not certain) that also has one of these Edwards models...with an autograph from Mana, Now that I would so want.

Perhaps if I could ever get to a rendezvous event I can drag it along.
